Janie Grant - Need Help
Hi Steve I bought both of these from Soul Bowl in the 70's Parkway P-982 ............................................. Parkway P-983 The Janie Grant "Bell Sound" Matrix Stamp is Difficult to Detect. They appear to have sorted the problem out for the next number, which happens to be Christine Cooper.. This has "Bell Sound" firmly stamped on Both sides. However ..... I noticed that, on the Christine Cooper there is also another very faint Matrix, a little to the left of the bold "Bell Sound" possibly another "Bell Sound" very poorly stamped and very similar to the Janie Grant Matrix It almost looks like they had to replace a faulty Matrix stamp between these two issues.at the Pressing Plant. It is a Minefield - Bootleg guide is a must have.

Records For My Funeral
Has anyone else encountered this, I'm not sure if it's the case everywhere. Sadly my father in law passed at Christmas, we had his funeral at the beginning of this year. The question of music to be played came up, and I was shocked to discover that they had stopped people bringing their favourite CD or tape etc Apparently, If it isn't on our vast database they said then unfortunately we can't play it. We do try and have only failed a couple of times to find someones favourite piece of music. Shocked Surely this is wrong.

How Did You Get Into The Soul Scene?
Hi In the Early sixties, my eldest sister bought The Beatles, The Rolling Stones etc Whereas my Mother bought Mary Wells, The Crystals, The Ronettes. Guess whos record collection started me off. At the Youth Club late 60's Soul Music was played, and eventually I took my stuff up to play. It wasn't long before I was buying more, started Work and then buying records became my favorite pastime. I then moved on to play records at The Drum. So my Mother really had the Earliest influence on my musical taste

The Blossoms & The Toys
I Love "A Lovers Concerto", but "Attack" for me is one of their finest. as is "May Your Heart Be Cast Into Stone" Will we ever see their like again, awesome Girl Groups just don't cut it Nowadays. Dare I say it, Girls Aloud "C The Day" is the closest anyone has come recently.....Shame Hopefully The Dreamgirls Movie might prompt some more Soulful Artists to record, as a Girl Group.

What's Yer Fave Velvelettes Track?
So difficult this, neglected to some extent by Motown. A sort of poor relation to the other groups as far as releases go, and then we discover the wealth of recordings on the marvelous Double CD Collection. The Motown Anthology I love The Velvelettes, but If I was pressed I would have to say Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I. However I have been to a couple of functions recently, weddings etc where the DJ has played "Needle In A Haystack" and the like, in order to help get the party in full swing. Once the Dance floor is full to breaking point, all ages, he then turns to the chart of the day and the dance floor starts to empty. Good Move MR D.J. ........ NOT
