  1. Considering the Vast Motown Catalogue why were some UK Only Or should I say not released in the US as a Single The Night - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - Immediately springs to mind.
  2. I only have the one copy to check. This one has Stamped Matrix EAST COAST : "Arp"
  3. Whether you collect UK or US they are wonderful all lined up in a collection. Music downloads may give listening pleasure but a record is a thing of beauty to view and to own.
  4. Here is one of the reasons why I love collecting the US stuff. There is so much to collect for one release number. EAST COAST : "Arp" DEMO Credited to The Elgins EAST COAST : "Arp" Stock Copy Credited to THE DOWNBEATS PopSike.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ However, It is the MIDWEST Copies that carry THE DOWNBEATS as a DEMO Format Here it is with "THE ELGINS" Sticker over THE DOWNBEATS Printed Label Credit MIDWEST : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WEST COAST : Monarch This is a DEMO on the Early V.I.P. Design yet it is credited to ELGINS not DOWNBEATS The West Coast Monarchs tended to keep the Early Design for a longer period across the Motown Catalogue. I would love to see a West Coast Stock Copy with the early design if one does exist. As already mentioned, the name change happened quite late in the printing / pressing stage. Here is a West Coast copy with the Later Design and ELGINS Credit Could this be the only West Coast Stock Copy Design
  5. When I first started collecting I tried with Limited success to find the UK Tamla Motown 500-599, 600-699 etc As Pete says you will pay a lot more for certain UK Titles. I soon turned my attention to the US. You can always find something of Interest. I have found a lot of pleasure picking up the USA singles from Various different Pressing Plants Including the DEMOs for each. Many USA can be quite Rare now for certain DEMOs and Stock Copies, especially when looking for a particular pressing plant. Even these can still be found at an affordable price if you are lucky.
  6. VG+ (Has Storage Marks around Deadwax but Plays Excellent) £22 SOLD PayPal Preferred, First PM Secures
  7. This one has just found Its way Into my collection. RT-130
  8. The white label copy is the demo for this release.
  9. Original as Described above by Dave
  10. Here's the UK Release already mentioned, backed with Recipe For Love which was of course the other side of Be's That Way Sometimes.
  11. Original DEMO or Stock Copy should have Raised Marks under the Paper Label Can be tricky to spot at first.
  12. The DEMOs Vinyl www.popsike.com WEST COAST Styrene
  13. I have quite a few Ray Charles on Sparton here's a couple of the Northern sides.
  14. Here's The Duck where they obviously had a couple of runs at the pressing plant or printers. The Stock Copy above same layout as the demo whereas the following has different sized font on the "CONSCIENCE" side
  15. 2200 Numbered Sets and a Collectors Market willing to purchase, many at a time of their life with money in their pocket eager to add to the collection. At the run up to Christmas, It should have been Impossible to get this wrong. I've no doubt that every Motown 7s Box Set will sell this time around but at what cost. Let's hope that If there is to be a Volume 2 etc that Quality Control issues have been addressed.
  16. First PM Secures PayPal preferred VG++ - £15 VG+ Has been without Its cover has surface marks but plays really well - £15 VG++ - £15
  17. I agree, one of the first records to make it into my collection and still love to hear it. When I bought my ABC Stock Copy back then, Imports were just starting to make it to our shores. My friend bought a copy from the same box and it was a different label variation.
  18. I have these two, almost certain that I have seen You Always Hurt Me on at least three different Variations / Pressing Plants for ABC. This one the most frequently seen in my experience.
  19. Very nice, That's got to be a Rare one.
  20. Wishing you ALL a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
  21. I have seen the Silver / Red described as 1st Issue on a few lists. The Deadwax on all three is Identical. I have only ever seen the one White / Red Stock Copy Purchased from Soul Bowl back in the 70s. Though looking at the Label Layout the Silver / Red it has the same font spacing Artist & Title as the DEMO
