    Getting a few plays now!
  2. Very cheap! Very rare..
  3. Sorry Rachel, I was mentioned by name in a thread and felt I had the right to reply. Finished now.
  4. Wow, you certainly punch well below my weight intellectually Andy. So, to save you further humiliation (you avoided ALL the points I made anyway ), Ill just keep it very simple for you . You know nothing about music! You dont care about it. I dont remember you at venues before you started promoting. Ive never even seen you dance! Your just a promoter. FULL STOP.....your dj's know about music (thank god!) and you have some good ones. John weston is a mate and I love his music! Bluster, bluster, and more vacuous, chest puffing bluster. Thats my summary! No use talking about playlists, as i just did, cos you really dont have a clue, do you? So, do us ALL a favour, dont talk about across the board or music policy. Its just a world your not a part of! You would struggle to name 5 tunes each of your dj's plays! You see, to be into 'soul' you have to open up your 'soul'. You seem to be opening up your AH?Soul and talking out of it. Now, I have a busy day Andy, so if your going to attempt to articulate again, please consult a thesaurus (its not a baby dinosaur ) as "You f--k off too" is about as articulate as your music policy!
  5. I had it BAZ and cant remember who it went too.!ha! Good luck..a great soulful tune.

Just sold 'old man me'. I have LOVERS OF GOD on Shurtanga as I remember. (very rare though, so make an offer!). Not selling 'Sailboat'. Kool Blues has been on my playlist for 10months..phenomenal soul (not selling). PM me for 'Lovers'. cheers
  7. This years "DJ's" from UK include Dave Greet, Dave Ferguson, Howard Griffin, Alan Pollard, Karl Heard, Russ Vickers, and Chris Dalton. You won't see their names on flyers every weekend at local "dos", or indeed at many national events, but I think it's fair to say that they reflect the ethos of what is best about both the collecting scene and the passion that comes with it when asked to 'DJ'. Good line-up. But I beg to differ about Karl. He dj's at a lot of places country wide including BIDDS, resident at Burnley, Lifeline, 100club and many other venues both local and nationwide.
  8. Versatile Gents - You Blow My Mind Peoples Choice - Destruction Reggie Sadler Revue - Love Is Like A Baseball Game RIP - Im Trying
  9. Get out more! And cover a wider range of venues!
  10. Agree, we had thursday, Friday, sat, Sunday events back then....Grantham Football Club, Newark Bowling Green, Brit Club club, Wigan and Palais, ALL in a week sometimes.
  11. Thats fine, as long as your gonna dance ALL NIGHT to them. Haven't seen many around who do?! A whole night of any one tempo is too much for me! Prefer good danceable soul at any tempo. A good mix over the night.
  12. YEP, vocals are awful. Reminds me of early QUO...sweet Caroline!!
  13. MSQs had spins for a while now.
  14. Not if you look after it and dont hammer it everytime you play!
  15. I agree. But, I think a big part of it is location. Its pretty easy to get a younger crowd into a night in Manchester or Cambridge etc. But at the moment, a lot of 'soul' events are in the middle of nowhere!! No matter how many flyers you put out, a young person is very rarely going to take a punt on an event in a village, in the middle of Yorkshire!
  16. It is harder on Japanese. I sold one on French Coral(picture sleeve) a while back for £400!
  17. Wow, another planet. You seem to miss the whole bit about 'soul' music. Are you saying the 'Flying Pickett' version of 'I Really love you' or 'Id Think It Over' portrays the 'Wigan' experience for you and moves your soul....well, Fair enough mate.....we obviously had two very different experiences at the time....I went for the music!
  18. UH! The Casino didn't have a cover band doing the music did it? With the lead singer of the flying picketts doing lead vocals. As far as I remember, it was about original 60's artists not covers with the same singer doing every song!? How can you say that this piece of pap can give anyone, kids or otherwise, a taste of what it was like...It wasn't a sad ba-tard, nostalgia cover band event when I went to Wigan! Only a Casino tourist type could ever say something like that. What utter rubbish! Were you EVER into the music in the first place? Or did you just POP your head in!

They all sound a bit shite. I had one, you have to turn the treble down when you dj it!
  20. Its a great dream event! I loved the Palais and the Brit! Just think everyone would be moaning about different things, like music and dj's. The residents at the time were at the forefront of it all, new and exciting tunes each month. Would it be the same now? Im not really into the nostalgia tune thing cos its everywhere and dominating the scene. But, if it was a Palais reunion done in the same pioneering musical spirit as back in the day, then yes, im in. p.s. Shane would do a great film......be very dark though!ha!
  21. Just think of all those soul people in one place like they used to do every month on a sunday afternoon dancin their little hearts out Let the memory rest in peace. As a Grantham lad, i spent a lot of time at the Palais in the 70's...loved every minute of it! Went back in the mid 80's and it was sh-te! Dont think there is a large enough crowd to support an event like that...too disperate nowadays!
  22. I have one, its a bit battered on the intro, but perks up. It is a fairly hard tune to find nowadays. paul
