  1. That's one of the points I was trying to clarify. It's because I have seen records listed, on Stateside for instance, stating first press, and having a solid centre, aren't most demo's usually push out type centres. Bob
  2. With UK releases are the first pressings always the ones with solid centres (for duke box?) and the ones with the centres held in second presses (which usually includes demos)? Does this equate to first and second issues or are they considered to be one and the same? Any thoughts Bob

Welcome to Dreamsville - Sammy Ambrose Preferably on UK Stateside. PM with details (price/condition) if available. Regards
  4. After missing out recently, am after a copy of this on original. PM with price and condition please if one is for sale. Regards
  5. This thread was covered a few weeks ago for the same reason (someone paying an extortionate amount for the same single taken from an LP). The other side (I Cried For You) is also on the LP and worthy of plays (if not already been played), but I must agree the prices being paid are somewhat outrageous (unless you are the seller) considering the LP is only the same sort of value. Regards
  6. Which one between Frankie Valli/Four Seasons and the Velours, I'm Gonna Change, remember the former got the initial plays but is very rarely, if ever heard now, whereas the Velours is played quite frequently. Regards Bob
  7. Weren't Porgy and he Monarchs "My Heart Cries for You" an old standard given the soul treatment? Regards
  8. Nearly as good as DJ OTZI's version
  9. Don't forget Nat King Cole and Frank Sinartra
  10. Rumour had it that it was Don Gardner guising as Shep, not sure it was though, seem to recall reading an article somewhere saying it wasn't, although Don Gardner did cut at least one track for the TNT label and some for TGT. Regards Bob
  11. I suppose in 79 you would think it to be an original, as there perhaps weren't many proper ones to compare against, plus at the time we were all still learning, whilst still being duped (perhaps thats how we learned - the hard way) Regards Bob
  12. See what you mean, the original (on the right) has much clearer numbers and letters, and is much sharper. Also, this may be just a coincidence, but weren't the Eddie Regan and Yum Yum's booted in a similar way at around the same time, and what market were they aimed at, UK or US? Regards Bob
  13. I always thought it was a one sided unfinished demo, hence its rarity (only ever seen Gillys copy) Regards
  14. Which Sassy copy, cos ain't there two different "B" sides, "love your pain goes deep" and "this is just the B side", each as both demo and issue. Regards Bob
  15. Charles "Edward" Daniels also wrote "I've got you on my mind again" (Paula records and also released in the UK, forgot label) which was published by counterpart/falls city, and Billy Joe Young is thought to be Little Joe Roman. Regards Bob
  16. How much does an original go for nowadays? Regards TOTP
  17. Thanks for that, shall check the run out groove Regards Bob
  18. Can anyone verify, was the Velours, "I'm Gonna Change" ever booted on a MGM lookalike demo, and if so, when and is it difficult to distinguish from an original? Any info gratefully received Regards TOTP
  19. According to the "top five hundred" its the hardest to get and some other trivia. Anyway the boot (7tis) is all yellow, whereas the proper job has shaded/brown writing/logo. Remember last time I heard it played out loud, Soul Sam played it followed by Buster and Eddie (brill record) somewhere n Notts Regards
  20. I'm expecting Eddie Parker , Don Gardner and Daimen Fox, perhaps won't get em though the wife will try.
  21. What, as in Bodie and Doyle with team leader Simon Cowel (or was that Gordon Jackson?)
  22. What a great record, too cheap to play nowadays I suppose, but as good, if not better than some. TOTP
  23. Mike Post Coalition - Don't need ask title, however, knew lots more records beforehand, just werent collecting at the time. TOTP
  24. Remember hearing "Ghost in my house" around 74 time when it charted due to demand (had been released in the UK on Motown Memories Vol 2 in 67ish). They only play guaranteed sounds, thats their business (take no chances, only dead certs). Thank God for chancers like us who dare to delve deeper. TOTP
