  1. Is your Al Williams on La Beat or Palmer (or was it Andy Williams you used to play?)
  2. Read the post with interest and agree with points raised, the snobbery and sniping has been with us a long time (perhaps as soon as the phrase Northern Soul was coined) and will probably remain with us, but no matter what make sure you go to venues of your choice, enjoy what you hear whilst respecting the choice of others and most of all have a good time, anyway that works for me.
  3. Used to like Ben Zine back in the day (even bought a copy) but as for The Camp, come to think of it, Happy Cats - Boots etc, Jan Davis - Raunchy 1970, what were thet all about?
  4. As a youngster I was familiar with tunes that were (had) being played at clubs up North(although too young to attend, cause my bros and their friends would have/play/talk about them. I was bemused by it all until I got captivated by the world of Northern Soul at the local youth club, and having that GREAT BIG FEELING of holding that first piece of vinyl you purchase (boot or not) and wanting to play it and dance to it no matter what time it was when you got home with it. Strangely enough I still get the same buzz, which my wife does not appreciate when I return from an evening out only to let her know what I have bought by playing it loud. TOTP
  5. Would like to hear Sweet Darlin instro occasionally, but didn't it on;y come out on Black Magic? is this a boot, legal first issue on UK, reissue or what
  6. Thanks for the info, think it was one of your articles in shades that I read a mention of Christopher Cerf TOTP
  7. Strongly agree with last two entries. And after JA had serviced DJ's he din't rip you off with selling you the same vinyl at over-inflated prices
  8. It was the last record released on the UK Sue label, this was not noisy, I trust you are referring to the Mayfield American release.
  9. He did the relaunching of a pub down our way a few years ago, sadly it shut down shortly afterwards. Come to think of it, Phil Mitchell did a similar thing at one of our local supermarkets, this shut down too. Methinks there's a pattern emerging.
  10. Bought I NEED You by Jim Webb (the writer of the song) on Epic Demo for a £5. Looked at price and title only, thinking it was Shane Martin as you do.
  11. Soul Sam at his 70th at Hinckley and at Skeggy weekender still as enthusiastic as ever
  12. Replying to my own stuff!! Came out on AMY not MALA (sister label)
  13. Not sure why I need this information, but is Christopher Cerf, him being of Shrine connection, the same Chris Cerf who recorded Sweet Music on Mala?
  14. Interested in the sonny daye let me know if still available
  15. Shrine: The Alternative Theory Shrine - a view from the other side, andrew hamilton got in touch, and gave this other view on one ... View full article
