  1. Nice one John - saved me a job! btw How often have you ever come across it on yer travels? Cheers Steve
  2. Ey up folks Just got a record on the 'red' Apache label (same one as James Phelps and just a couple of numbers away from it!) by The Ripples - Cowgirls to boys/Only time will tell Two very nice sweet/group soul songs (particularly the B side). The top side is the Gamble/Huff song with the title altered cos it's a femme group! I guess it must be about '69/'70? Not found much info about the group and don't think i've ever seen the 45 before? Has anyone any more info they can add? btw I haven't recorded or scanned it yet so i can't post a clip up at this moment! PLMK Steve
  3. Good luck tonight Mark -I'll be tuning in Cheers Steve
  4. For the record, mine are planned to be made and sent out by the end of November! (I think Chris gave an indicator that from now til mid Dec was OK?) It's a good idea to phase them over a few weeks cos when too many land at the same time it's hard to do each one justice (imho) Cheers Steve
  5. Wow! I am now glad i put me name back on the list! Can't wait to hear this as i only know/have a couple of them Nice one Colin Cheers Steve ps Mr Hampsey please get your PA to fire out that track listing of your 'Soul within reach' please!
  6. Yer postcode is cut short mate? Or is it G1 3JU? Please let us all know the real one? Cheers Steve
  7. Oh, you're gonna have to perform now Sir No pressure then Cheers Steve
  8. Great track Agree that it's an easy one BUT there's a release of it with a brill crossover B side called 'It shouldn't happen to a dog'..............now that's a tough 'un! Cheers Steve
  9. Steve Plumb replied to a post in a topic in Record Sales
Yep, twas a pleasure Cheers Steve
  10. Come on Chris - let ole Fraser on board - deadline may have gone but still two names short - i'd love a CD of current Fraser spins!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve
  11. Yeah, I've gotta say that I thought I'd had me hat nailed on at the time BUT it has turned out to be pretty hard as i've never seen it for sale since! Cheers Steve
  12. What about another Billy Stewart - Crazy bout you baby - Chess Fine crossover for the cost of a couple of really expensive pints of Stella Steve
  13. Some more LP's, 12"s & 45's added to the list bit of www.soulmusic.co.uk Click here to view the list of LP's, 12"s & CD's Click here to view the list of US Original Northern 45's Apologies if this appears twice as this is the 2nd time I've posted it cos the 1st has gone AWOL! Steve
  14. Think you 'may' be thinking of the odd looking all Black Dakar label releases?
  15. Rob Thomas had the only copies I've ever seen of this, about 8 years ago - he sold them all then at £100 each! Not sure what they're worth today? Hope this helps Steve
  16. While I'm still on a roll.............................. I now have an original Art Freeman - Slipping around - FAME WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING up for trades. It looks VG with quite a few surface marks BUT plays surprisingly well with only a few occasional pops and crackles. The 'Slipping around' side is a blank white label, whereas the other side 'I can't get you out of my mind' is stamped on the label along with Fame 1008 & Art Freeman's name. It is a vinyl copy so it's presumably a Test Pressing of the 'Black/Coloured' Issue? Great for DJing OR for simply playing at home A piece of Northern Soul history! I'd have thought it was worth £150+ As before with Epitome Of Soul/Natural Four I'd very much like to swap/trade it for a selection of the following (mainly) cheap 70's Soul 45's- Tapestry - It's not the world that's messed up - Capitol Peaches & Herb - I'm counting on you - MCA O'Jays - To prove I love you - TSOP Presidents - I promised you love - Sussex Sir Charles Hughes - I'm leaving you - Jeena Sharon Paige/Harold Melvin - If you're looking for someone to love - Source Al Downing - I'm just nobody - Polydor Brief Encounter - What about love - Capitol Sons Of Robin Stone - Got to get you back - Atco Archie Bell & the Drells - Old people - Phil Int Bettye Crutcher - Sugar Daddy - UK Stax William Bell - Easy coming out - Mercury Rumpus - Love's gonna get you - Dash Oscar weathers -Just to prove I Love you - Top & Bottom Other nice 60's/70's Northern/Modern Soul 45's also considered (cheap or rare!) Part cash & trade would be an option too if there was a mis-match? To make the job easier PLEASE try and send a PRICED list of trades in (with conditions etc) by PM? Cheers Steve
  17. I know I'm going to regret this Put me down if 30 ain't been reached yet (I'll email you my addy again Christopher!) Looking down that list made me realise the wealth of good stuff that will be on those CD's (and vice-versa ) I know i said i hadn't time BUT reckon i need to make time methinks? Cheers Steve
  18. DEAL NOW DONE!!!!! Cheers Steve
  19. Hiya Yes. I know a couple have crept up in price Have PM'd you Cheers Steve
  20. I wondered who hoovered all them up I was looking for a copy for someone last week - better add it to me cheap 70's 45's that I'm looking for (see trades thread) Cheers Steve
  21. Hi Bob Flip of the 'Fast Track 45 is called 'Today or never' and guess what.............it's a fantastic 70's Soul dancer!!!!! Well worth tracking down but not easy to find! Cheers Steve
  22. TONNNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Looks big enough to me Nice one Tony One day? (as they say!) Cheers Steve
  23. While I'm on a roll.............................. I now have an original ABC - Natural Four (I thought you were mine) up for trades. It looks VG+ with quite a few surface marks BUT plays like a dream and the label is clean. Great for DJing OR for simply playing at home I'd have thought it was worth £200+ As before with Epitome Of Soul I'd very much like to swap/trade it for a selection of the following (mainly) cheap 70's Soul 45's- Tapestry - It's not the world that's messed up - Capitol Peaches & Herb - I'm counting on you - MCA O'Jays - To prove I love you - TSOP Presidents - I promised you love - Sussex Sir Charles Hughes - I'm leaving you - Jeena Sharon Paige/Harold Melvin - If you're looking for someone to love - Source Al Downing - I'm just nobody - Polydor Tavares - Too late - Capitol Brief Encounter - What about love - Capitol Sons Of Robin Stone - Got to get you back - Atco Archie Bell & the Drells - Old people - Phil Int Bettye Crutcher - As long as you love me - UK Stax William Bell - Easy coming out - Mercury Rumpus - Love's gonna get you - Dash Oscar weathers -Just to prove I Love you - Top & Bottom Other nice 60's/70's Northern/Modern Soul 45's also considered (cheap or rare!) Part cash & trade would be an option too if there was a mis-match? To make the job easier PLEASE try and send a PRICED list of trades in (with conditions etc) by PM? Cheers Steve
  24. I'm gonna pass on this one this time fellas.....................unlike Sir Hampsey i haven't got a PA (hee hee) and i've a shedload of things to do in November that may see me struggle to record and copy a CD 30 times.................BUT i will be back for the next one hopefully (if there is room for me that is!) Really have enjoyed the last two swaps with approx 40 CD's of LP tracks and cheap quality 45's - have learnt a bit and bought a bit from them so it must go down as a success Will be watching the thread with interest though Cheers Steve
  25. Hi Bob Dug out both issues of the Chess & Fast Track 45's and there looks to be no connections whatsoever with the groups? btw One is from '73 the other '75 Chess 45 is by '11th Commandment' & Fast Track 45 is 'Eleventh Commandment' As they don't even sound familiar either, it's safe to assume they're different groups? Couldn't put me hands on the RJ release (i've got it somewhere!) so couldn't check this one? Cheers Steve
