What Was That Group On King, Sean, Val, Rob & Keith ?
You know how it is, you are half way through telling a story and get to the bit where you say 'and he was in the group' and then complete memory blank. Happen to me last night at 'Dab of soul' had half the room trying to work out who I meant. So for Val, Keith Williams, Sean Hampsey, Tats, Rob Smith, Johnny Beggs and Mace. Fabulous Denos, Ricky Andrews was in the Fabulous Denos.

Unissued/unreleased. What
In the U.S. guys can be pressing up to 5000 copies on their own financies, but it is more common that they are between 200-1000. These are done not just for promotion, but often to sell at gigs and to put into local shops for sale by the artist. These rarely see a distributor and in the mists of time often become the truely rare records we all search for.
-
Unissued/unreleased. What
This is a term used when there is no label name, and/or it is factually known that the artists pressed the record himself with his own finances with no outside involvement. Their are a few 45's & LP's like this, eg Early Clover - Early Clover Records. Much more common with the arrival of CD's
-
Unissued/unreleased. What
It is a term normally applied to a song that never saw any form of mass produced, commercially available hard copy, in any format that was contemporary to it's recording. The source of these tracks is normally master tapes or acetates. Dave

Weldon Arthur McDougal III RIP
Somewhere on Soulful Detroit, there is a link to a good radio interview he did in the U.S. within the last year or so. Sad loss a east coast powerhouse, original member The Larks where he sang bass. Weldon went on to be an east coast promotions manager with Motown, along with being part owner of Harthon records. He gave Barbara Mason her first break, asking her to join the group on stage to sing one night at a local club where she sang moon river, she got a standing ovation. He then arranged for her to cut her first record at Arctic. Later working with Kenny Gamble he had no small hand in helping develope Philadelphia International. He was a great showman, writer, producer alround talented guy and one of the people that founded what was to become The Philly Sound.

Sam Dees - Lonely For You Baby Sss
So I don't understand why would you ask 'do demo's exist', which they clearly do. When you knew they did and already owned one ?
-
Sam Dees - Lonely For You Baby Sss
A one off no, this was a fair sized record label and there is no way they would have done a pressing run of 1. There will be other copies around, Soul Source does not constitute the entire collecting world. But it's fair to say it's fairly rare piece and maybe worth as much as £500 + in the current climate to someone who cares enough to want to own a copy that says 'Demo/Demonstration over 'Plug side' as with the other promo's. Several standard issues, close to mint have sold at around £350 this year, so £500 would seem fair.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
Bugger me if I didn't get a reply from Boris. After reading it a couple of time, I feel it's a cool response from the Major of one of the worlds major cities Dear Mr Thorley, Many thanks for your email to the Mayor regarding the future of the 100 Club. I have been asked to respond on his behalf. The Mayor understands the importance of the 100 Club in providing a platform for emerging talent and established artists from across the genres, in welcoming experimental events such the Limelight contemporary classical nights, in hosting community activity such as the London Swing Dance Society, and as an essential part of London's post-war music scene with its own remarkable story. Unfortunately, the Greater London Authority has no statutory powers to intervene in commercial rental costs. We have been in touch with Jeff Horton, the Director of the 100 Club to offer advice and support. The Mayor supports the 100 Club's many fans and artists who are working to ensure the future of this vibrant venue. Yours sincerely Rhiannon Watson On behalf of Culture Strategy team
