Super stuff Dedji!x I will make plans to be there!x I hope the films brings up issues such as drugs....sexual infidelity....intolerance and waywardness as our scene and Culture have endured! Northern Soul The Film - See It At The Cinema
Well done on your efforts on behalf of the film and scene Steve and all!x Cinema.....luv it. My ex wife's Uncle Albert was 'Eric the projectionist' at our old Victoria Cinema in the market square through the 60's/70's.....now the Marks & Sparks! As 16 1/2 year olds and into our 20's we took advantage of his 'hospitality' and my affair with such a night out began! I had always enjoyed collecting on Poppy Day as a Cadet too in the mid 70's....so many affections with the Cinema. Lump that in with my 'interest' in Northern Soul....i;d have been flabbergasted Sir if Cambridge's Cinema Management had taken any other tac! We is the seat of 'education'....globally!x Besides that.....none of the 5 Cinema Managers would ever get a 'free' limo for 'Opening' night launches.....or for personal holiday/stag/hen doo's...ever again!!!!!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X ...educated @ Cambridge yaaa....Netherhall Junior and Upper...until expelled after 17 months! The 'streets' became my education....served me and my locality well!x If someone has info on the Edinburgh showing then please let me know.....a new found friend has invited me to a Diwali Dance night........i'd like to repay the compliment! He is a Muslim 'leader' up in Scotland arriving in 1972. He came to England...London...in '73 to search out potential opportunity. He was attacked...in his own words...by 'Skinheads wearing Fred Perry's!'.....! He has never returned to England and put all his efforts and commitment into Scotland....and feverishly into the YES campaign as a close ally to Alex Salmond. Indeed the Muslim Community were well represented at St Georges Square sporting Scottish flags.....to my surprise! I feel the need to assist him with his bad experience. Understanding each others Cultures....is key. I haven't seen the film or a trailer for it. I go to see it with him 'open minded'...and will discuss wotever it raises over a Chinese....I reckon!x @@ ~

Morning all!x Just returned last night from meandering around the Med for a well earned 'breakaway'...which meant from music too!x No personal phone...IT of any kind or 'news' of World or local affairs......I needed to get away....and have done successfully...or to my satisfaction! BUT...my life was taken over by 1 track.....throughout this escapism attempt!!!!!! It has also impacted several serious music involved folk and artistes.......simple as this..... We needed air tanks filled/bait replenished etc etc and so pulled in to 'civilisation' as you do. I was focused and wary of any outside influences......but it was my Grandsons 2nd birthday and so had him on my mind back in Blighty and therefore wandered into the below shop nearby to the Scuba place in Fornells...Menorca....to buy him a T-shirt and bits! Worst mistake of my whole 'holiday'...!!! .......there was an instant whistling in my ears as I walked in that I recognised......wtf.....???!!! I knew that ditty....and began singing along with the tune word for word as it kicked off......but was totally non-plussed and confused as to wot the hell it wos and why....why me now....here???!!!x I went to the counter and asked a very distinguished looking 'Senorita' .....'Ola.....wot is the music playing???!! She looked equally puzzled and reached for a CD case next to the till.....and explained it was left in an apartment her daughter rented out last year and she knew nothing except she liked the songs and had played it throughout this Summer to thousands of customers browsing! Her daughter thought it was more her age group music!! The CD from memory was greyish....'Simply Soul' on the front I think and I remember seeing the classic Betty Everett track 'Getting Mighty Crowded' on there and indeed knew al the tunes featured....including this....as should you all....!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRrD1boujT0 I was done in for the rest of my 'time out' around the Med whistling the tune in my head and then announcing loudly to all around or in solitude when fishing....'I WAAAANNNAA KNNNNOOOOOOWWWW....' randomly and still have done this morning before writing this....ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Impact label???...they ain't wrong!x @@ ~ I have a confession....and it has come back to bite me big time! I had the tune throughout the 90's and never played it once.......SOOOOORRRYYYY!!!!x I bottled it every time....or....it was in my section of roughly 10/15 that I would take each DJ spot that had the privilege of being in the running for the 1 or 2 spots reserved for MY choices as such during my spot....beyond the 'norm'! It sadly never made it to that top 2! It did me head in back then....and certainly has had the same impact 15-20 years later!! I have done what I can for the tune this time round! It is the only tune I mentioned to anyone music connected mogul whom I met around the Med...and I met a few along with their artistes many being current US and UK chart pi** toppers and so called 'DJ's who worked the drugs on Ibiza/Majorca and other fine cough 'party' resorts during this Summer! I told them to 'check it out' and announced immediately afterwards....END CONVERSATION re music!x They....is clueless anyway....u lot ain't so I thought i'd share it with you....an annoyance really when it comes down to it....but....not complaining....had my 'new girl' wiv me.....!!x Wore the shirt to the end of Summer Party for the Med organised by Barney Branson each year and felt it represented my personal interests directly....job done and enuff sed...I reckon!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X I have collected some super bits and bobs re wildlife and birds/fish....and yup archaeology etc during my 'sabbatical' which I will sort and put a paragraph or 3 up about in the Birds & Wildlife thread sometime this week!x Back 'on it' now and so no time to 'play' on the net or owt....off to Scotland on business till Friday and then Cornwall at the weekend so it may be early next week.....I have my priorities right again! Holiday over.....sigh. ......whissstle whistleee ..."IIIII WANNNAA KNOOOOWWWW.............sort of!x ....I would like to think the daughter will be 'raving' to the tune in some form next year at Ibiza.........thanx to her Mam....and a confused and irate 'Grandad/Pops' of Great Britain!!!!!hehe!!!!x @@ ~

Super stuff Pete!x I do believe I have this tape...from Paul Donnelly or someone at Peterborough gave me it several years back......or I ended up with a copy! I will add...I have never gone after a tune because of its money tag or owt. I used to follow Butch at the 100 Club regularly....he'd leave me with a £grander+ every time to follow.......the most successful takeover I had after such an occasion was with the first ever spin at the 100 Club of Fats Domino's If You Don't Know What Love Is.....which I found the day before for 50p......absolutely rocked the joint! Show Us Your Bird & Wildlife Photos
Hi folks!x I have shared my love of our wildlife and Countryside in here before. I was enjoying keeping up with this thread until January.....then got busy and leisure time such as it takes to read such delightful stuff.....dis-appeared!x I have tho' during my sabbatical witnessed many creatures out there! I have just clocked 55,000 miles scurrying around our Kingdoms as far as Inverness down to Portpatrick across to Berwick and the entire Coastline around England and Wales as well as every driveable road across the Yorkshire Moors....The Dales and Lake District. It's the most 'intensive' coverage I have ever done of the UK. In the 80's/90's I was doing on average 1,000 a week on business. I used to spot number plates and lorries to pass the time! For the past 10+ years i've shuttled up to 8 folk when cruising the Countryside and haven't had my focus on erm...the road and my external surroundings really! But...back on 'it' this year and I was stumped after the first week! Reason being is you can't do the number plates like we used to be able....and i've found my eyesight ain't what it was 20 years ago to spot a colour scheme and name that lorry firm from a mile away!! So....I was bored....and kept driving.....and then began to realise how many badgers....were 'freshly' deaded around the Country!!!! It has become my 'tick' as I plough through 400 miles a day on average.....except today.....streeeetch!!! Luvly!x So...2nd week of January I started to make a mental note of how many badgers I see dead. I can only say it as i;ve seen it.....and the figure is on average....25 a day.....in a random 400 mile trip through the lanes/highlands and valleys of the UK! I know they are cleared....I had to go to Westbury near Bath 3 times over 2 weeks.....different badgers each time! Same can be said Natonwide i;ve noticed! I don't know what my 'survey' sez....but that seems pretty more a better 'cull' than anything the Govt has come up with where necessary....shirley??!x I am ignorant about the Badger debate but that's what i;ve found out....and shared it here where i thought it may be appreciated!x I look forward to catching up with the thread soon!x LUV SOOTY X This pic accompanied an article in which the British Forces were accused of releasing man eating Honey Badgers around Basra in 2003 as a security measure...!x @@ ~
