  1. £5 off ebay 3 years ago, black Swan. But that's not much of a reference now-a-days, seen it from £15-£25 recently alan
  2. not trying to be too fussy, but the record credits are ERNIE & ED...not the other way around.....

  4. Without too much embarassment I'll confess that back then, I went and bought the Sammy Davis Jr album, for the vocal track it's called "You can count on me" alan
  5. hi folks - we are heading down to Manchester tomorrow for the Earth Wind & Fire concert (wife's idea honest !) and staying for a couple of days, are there any soul/blues/jazzy venues on Wed or Thursday night ? cheers alan
  6. ok, thanks for your replies, I put a bid on it but missed out, maybe next one. cheers alan
  7. does this look legit ? it looks nothing like all the other white demos that can been seen on Popsike.... https://cgi.ebay.com/KILLER-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-JOHNNY-HOWARD-CHASE-/320553201840?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4aa275b0b0 alan
  8. some good one's mentioned so far but for me it has to Gene Chandler, There was a time. Those horns, the driving beat and the ending of " They call me the woman handler, you ain't seen nothing yet until you seen me doing the Gene Chandler " rousing stuff !! alan
  9. I've got asong by Jackie Wilson & Lavern Baker - Think Twice, but it is XXX version, they both name each other frequently in the song but it's pretty serious swearing, so if your not easily offended I can send you the mp3. it seems to be an out take from the session when they recorded the real published version but this is a joking/crude version... be warned..... alan
  10. hi Dynamicp - I've emailed you a copy of my Spanish issue. cheers alan
  11. OK perfect, thats what I needed know..... many thanks Pikey cheers alan
  12. That was the question - is there a 2nd issue ? I've seen a scan of the LP label, light blue, but it had 8068 printed at bottom of label. But maybe this isn't the offical catologue number ? alan
  13. hi all - I looking for some info on the Embers album on EEE, called Burn You A New One. I've seen a listing for LP catalogue number EEE 1069 which kinda makes sense with the 45's like EEE69 & 70, but I've also seen same title LP as EEE 8068 on the label. Is this a later / reissue or maybe doesn't relate to the catalogue number ??? cheers alan
  14. I actually have been to one of her restaurants, Gladys and Ron's - it's in Atlanta on Peachtree St. It was close to our hotel and we stumbled over it whilst there for an Aretha concert. It was arguably the Worst meal I've had in the states, fried chicken was like cardboard - And it's a dry resturaunt - no Booze !! alan
  15. Northern295 posted a gallery image in Soul Flyers
  16. As I'm a born and bred Dundonian, I'm very disapointed in you Davie !! surely your pride and joy must have been the Timex watches you had. I was there for 20 years and we all had drawers full of them, in early 80t's we made the worlds thinnest watch, it was soooo coool and thin that the bezel would bend after a while !!! alan
  17. hi Dawn, pm me your address and I'll send one of our 8th Anniversary CD's that I'm currently making for our night on 20th March in Dundee, it will be one of those "white advanced copy" discs cheers alan
  18. a beautifully scripted "Wind UP", no way would a vinyl junkie/dealer use that type of terminology
  19. nice one Steve - what about a European Snr Operations Development Manager for a multi-national electronic manufacturing company ? and please no bullsh~t abuse !! alan

I've got to agree with a couple of posts on this, Greg Perry never liked it, Alfie Davison great song. Are they oldies ? for me definitely NO, but I'm 50+ and don't associate them in that category. Like Lenny says, in Scotland we have some pseudo Oldies clubs that will pack the floor when Alfie Davison is played but play something from 1962 and it's tumbleweed time !! alan
  21. I could have a wild guess - some soul music, a piece of flat vinyl or styrene and a round paper label with a hole through the middle. I may be wrong though.... :-)
  22. ok, I screwed up with Erma Franklin label, i've got the record and it is Brunswick demo. and yes the book talks about the third sister Carolyn, who died early through cancer. Glad I added the dislsclaimer that it's Mark Bego's book !! alan
