Try Events, but it's normally the first Saturday of the month.
  2. As advertisements go, it keeps you guessing about what is actually being advertised until the end captions. Even in the extended 2 minute version, there is no mention of any high fibre breakfast cereal. Expect future events to be invaded by advertising executives. I reckon Johnson & Johnson would be interested in the alternative use of one of their products. Failing that, it's about time a new Shake n Vac advert hit our screens.
  3. Got a pair of shoes from the Chinese cobbler on HMS Bulwark in 1980. I gave him a picture I'd cut out of a catalogue and picked the leather I wanted from what he had on board. I then stood barefoot on a piece of paper whilst he drew round my feet and took a few measurements. A week later, a pair of handmade tassel loafers for the princely sum of £20. Trouble is, half an hour later I wanted another pair.
  4. Swifty, you are hereby sentenced to star in the next Shredded Wheat advert.
  5. Nice one Elaine. Another good excuse for a new outfit.
  6. Just an observation Rob, but I couldn't help but notice a spider in your kitchen when I viewed your photograph full screen. There he is, in the corner of your work top, above the toaster at the top of the picture. Wouldn't be Spider Turner by any chance?
  7. 'E's a 1970's Soulboy, oh yes!
  8. Paid about the same for a pair from Hepworth's back in '75. 30" parallels, side seam pockets, tunnel loops, two pleats each side, buttoned down flap pockets on the back, one front cash pocket with flap, plain bottoms.
  9. Eat two and put the other two on either side of your face for authentic looking sideburns.
  10. No money changed hands, but he did secure a lifetime's supply of a certain high fibre breakfast cereal.
  11. Is that the guy who hired his local cinema for a private showing of "Northern Soul"?
  12. They were, and your name's in the book.
  13. Some photos I took on my phone, after seeing my son and his Grandad off in the balloon. The castle is Brougham Castle, a couple of miles outside of Penrith and visible from the A66.
  14. What's with the anti-submarine nets Sooty?
  15. There's Gonna Be A Hoedown.

Great performances from William Bell. Sounded great with Jools' R & B Orchestra behind him, and Ms Stone was none too shoddy.
  17. Happy Funkmas and a Stanky New Year.
  18. Normally listen to Solar at home. R2 or Smooth in the car since Jazz FM deserted us up north.
  19. Yes, a welcome change from Jeremy Vine. looking forward to the Detroit session now.
  20. That would make perfect sense. Thank you Patto.
  21. I wonder what Billy Davis would have thought if he knew that 45 years after he "funked his stank" (or should that be "stanked his funk"?), his seminal stomper would be the subject of much heated debate amongst a group of Brits on their home computing devices? For my part, I'd be interested to know who or what was Stanky, and why he /she or it needed to get funky in the first place.
  22. Already got this pre-ordered. Amazon will probably drop the price before the actual release date, but even so, not a bad price for eight CDs, two DVDs of never seen before interviews and a book. Great to see the tracks arranged in chronological order of when and where they were played. Nice one Ian.
  23. Thanks for that Kev. Thought the track was more akin to something P T Barnum would have come up with.
