I have a Shades of Brown record on On Top. Seem to remember title being something like He Ain't Heavy or summat. Is that the other side of the one you're after? Won't bother digging for it if not the one. Cheers Phil

Help Needed Please
It's on Carla not Calla. Don't believe it was booted. There may have been a few represses at the time though as it was a fairly big seller. Phil

Uk Motown Collection On Ebay
I think it's overpriced. I don't have all that he's got, but I have all Oriole, London, Fontana & TMG singles up to 899 (admittedly some are in only VG condition and a total of 6 of them have NOC), plus all LP's (both stereo & mono where they exist) up to TML12033 and I wouldn't value the whole lot at more than £10k tops. Not that I'd ever sell them Phil

Leeds Central
Dave, I think that would have been 1996? Phil

Leeds Central
Good news. I loved the Central back in the day and we ran a couple of Central revival nights back at the old place in the 90's. As you say Steve, it's still the Central at its heart. Just a bit cleaner Phil

New Otis Williams 45 - Here At Last
I'm pleased to announce that it's now here at last! SI005 - Otis Williams - Take Me Back / I Got To Have You You can buy it here - https://www.soul-intention.co.uk/release.htm This has got to be one of the best 70's double-siders ever! The owner and prodiucer Kent Washburn has this to say ........... "I am so pleased to see that these two masters finally get to the public. It finally confirms my belief way back in the early 70's, of the serious validity of: (1) the songs, (2)the musicians and (3) the technical staff. These tracks are seriously good, and why they never got released is a mystery to me at this point. I even chatted with Otis (Williams) recently, and he can't even remember why he was in St Louis to start with, or what prompted us to even cut the tracks either However, he does confirm that it is him, and yes, he does remember the songs and recording them, but he can't remember how the whole thing got hooked up to start with, and neither can I!! Never-the-less, Here are the people that helped create these two excellent sides.... Both Sides were Produced by Michael L Smith (now known as Michael Lovesmith, or just Lovesmith) along with Kent Washburn. Steve Litman, (the engineer that recorded and mixed all of their collaborations) was the Engineer. The musicians were the "A" team at that time in St Louis. This "CMC Rhythm Section" consisted of: Bass: Tom Zuzenak or Paul Jackson ( can't really remember which one played Otis' session, but I would think it was Tom Zuzenak from listening to it.) ... Drums: Michael Grimes, and Guitar: Phil Westmoreland ,(both were part of the group, Marcus Kelly and Westmoreland Co.), Keyboard: Michael L Smith. I used them on Everything I did, along with a keyboardist that was not on the Otis session, named: William "Billy B" Bickelhaupt. Some of the Horn Players were Tyrone Perry and David Hines, Myself, and some others whose names escape me (please forgive...smile). Strings were the local Symphony Strings. And, almost 40 years later, Hello from St Louis, et, al.... You now get to finally hear it!!!"

Talc
I hate talc on dancefloors. It's a total menace. It (together with little foil and paper squares down the bogs) nearly shut down Bradford Queens Hall when I was running it on a couple of occasions. And it was the deciding factor for the management at Leeds Astoria to stop us doing any more niters there. Even though I stayed cleaning the floor for two hours after one niter, we could never get it cleaned to their satisfaction. As once they'd noticed the problem they saw talc everywhere, and that was that. Phil
