  1. I have spares for sale of most of the variations of each of the three Sliced Tomatoes releases. I also have QC test pressings of many Music Merchant / Invictus / Hot Wax numbers, including unreleased ones. They are available for sale too. In fact any of my records are available for sale for the right price. Phil
  2. Not a wind up at all. His self-belief (egotism?) was resonsible for (still) one of the best venues of all time both for sounds played and atmosphere. Yes there was some rubbish played from time to time (true of every venue I've ever been to), there were unsavoury elements there from time to time too (but we all can change ). If individual elements of "what makes a great venue" were looked at in isolation, then The Casino would not come top in all of them or even many. But when looked at as a whole The Casino wins hands down. And for his involvement in that iconic, magical part of Northern Soul history he gets my vote. Phil

  4. Well I certainly am. But I've had some good company over the years
  5. I've got one (T7MLA) - sad I know. But I'm going to give it to my daughter Tamla when she gets her first car.
  6. I will swap my copy for a Free Angela LP. Does anyone have one for a swap? Phil

Got mine for £6.00 off one of Pat Brady's sales tapes (used to love them dropping through the door each week or so) in about '86. I am surprised though that it would fetch £100 or more nowadays.

That's £2100 more than I paid for the rights to both the Jimmy Burns and Bobby James (including master tapes and a vinyl copy of each) Inflation ......
  11. Nah. It's all water under the bridge now. The old chemically induced fervour used to make for some interesting nights in the 70's & 80's
  12. The only thing we didn't provide was chicken in a basket
  13. Excellent band, done loads of wonderful tunes. I remember me & Crofty losing a fortune when we put 'em on at Hinckley Lesiure Centre. A douibly memorable night for me that was. A well known member of the scene at the time stuck a pistol in my face in the car park and threatened to kill me. Ah, them were't days Phil

I used to play this at Bradford Queens Hall & Leeds Astoria c1989. A few others used to play it back then too. Is it worth more than £20 these days? Phil
  15. Does this count as crossover? Sorry to be thick but I don't really understand. i just know what i like. And I really like this.... All_That_Matters.mp3
  16. The LV Johnson release is brill IMO. But then again I know absolutely nothing. Phil

That IS one that I regret selling. Over 10 years ago since it departed to Chez Willingham, and I still really miss it. Phil

I have one of these available for a non-silly price. PM me with non-silly offer if interested. Phil
  20. I have one available for sale in EX+ condition. Sensible offers (circa £125.00) invited. Cheers Phil
  21. Yep. I didn't sell the record. I believe several people did pay big money for it. but not off me. There were quite a few people desperate to buy the record at the time, as uit was the "next big thing". It was only when IL's involvement in it started being punted around that folks didn't want it. I reckon if there had never been a mention of Levine's involvement and a load of copies hadn't turned up it would be a very different story.
  22. A film done the right way in the majority's eyes (majority of the soul scene that is, pleasing all the "right" people and causing no offence to anyone) would appeal to the general cinema going or video watching public about as much hammering nails into their own eye sockets would. A generally entertaining film made to appeal to the vast majority of the cinema going public that used the Northen Soul scene as its backdrop would be widely slated amongst the Northern Soul cognoscenti. I can just imagine it, comments like "this film is supposed to be set in March 1977 and I know for a FACT that Searling didn't play that record until at least October 1977", "load of crap, ripping off the scene" etc etc etc ad nauseam. You know it would be like that. Phil
  23. I've never sold that. Still got my copy. Are you after one? Make me a sensible offer.
  24. Must be Danny Moore. I sold mine to Pete Lowrie (via Pat Brady) for £1000.00 (don't know what markup Pat put on if any), and I replaced it early this year for £60.00 Phil
  25. He did many more rercords than just "Footsteps". 24 hours a day used to be my face. But as I've posted before, the Noel McKoy track on the Northernsoul 2007 CD is brilliant. He does have rather strong opinions I agree, which can upset people sometimes. But it's only because he really believes in the music he's made. Many people of an artistic nature are very opinionated. Myself, for example Phil
