  1. In my quest to obtain any Mike Terry related 45's, Gene Chandler-Mr Big shot -Constellation remains one of the items I need to (re-) acquire, If anyone should have a decent copy for sale (or any other obscure MT released 45 for that matter) please PM me......cheers wilxy
  2. Still after a nice Original copy of Mikki Farrow-Set my heart at ease-Karate........if anyone can oblige, please PM me, thanx wilxy:thumbsup:
  3. Nice one Harry....
  4. Sorry to disagree 'nsoul2', but can only agree with Edwins (Eddies) response, South Wales whilst not on par with many "Northern Towns/Cities" in numbers par se' had a good influx of followers, particularly early/mid seventies from small (mining related towns) such as Blackwood, Ebbw Vale, and surronding areas whilst I'm slightly embarrassed to say that initially my home town of Newport were only represented by myself and (ex) Tina, whereas the Cardiff support was originally negligable, whilst seaside town Porthcawl possibly had the finest venue in South Wales at the Manor Suite in the learly 80's! with a huge regular mainly local turnout.!!! Furthermore in the early /mid seventies I'd imagine Blackwood to a degree pro-rata population wise would give any similar size UK town a run for money with regard the Soul fraternity considering its size and geography ....Whilst numbers have probably diminished over time, in concentrated areas.....South Wales has still a loyal and fervent following.....:hatsoff2:Best wilxy

    Rest well Mr. Fuqua.....Respect, wilxy
  6. I'd be equally as interested in any such response, particularly if the source of release is valid as suggested.....I just can't get enough of "Detroit" Cheers wilxy:thumbsup:
  7. I know where you're coming from Simon, my shiftwork totally isolates me for 4 weeks out of every 8 and miss several decent soirees because of it.....my consolation being I have a trawl through the vinyl collection at least once a week and blast a few tunes out.....Today's Detroit day, so if the winds in the right direction you may hear Mike Terry's Sax in all its glory courtesy of Bari Track.....finest instrumental of 'em all IMHO, followed by the Masqueraders, Edward Hamilton, Duke Browner and then some.........It'll help keep me sane until my next jaunt "North"
  8. PM'd you Mark....
  9. Great thread missgoldie! and alas the answer is as diverse as the question, and very well answered by most......Personally I collect mainly oldies(vinylwise), however I prefer only travel to hear sounds "unknown" to me (or thereabouts) but rarely dance nowadays to either ......."If Carlsberg made statements with regards to age and excuses not to dance to Northern Soul".....mine would probably be a poor one nevertheless...

  11. The first time I came across "The" Music, was in 1973 at the Compass club Torquay, however my first attendance in earnest was a year later at an Inter City soul club all-dayer at Tiffany's Durdham Down, in Bristol 1974
  12. RIP Max.....
  13. Nice one Richard, just one facet of the fascinating aspects of record collecting, in particular with respect in this instance from a Detroit perspective, and moreover on this occasion from a personal view collecting wise.......I humbly concede that I will never know nearly enough about the "mystery" of the "Northern" vinyl "bug" but I'm sure as "eggs is eggs" I'll never tire of learning.....

  16. Being an "average sceptic" I would have normally by-passed the "advertising" of Eli Paperboy Reed, but am so glad I didn't (totally uninfluenced by the thread which I honestly "scanned" rather than studied)....IMHO the vocals and whole package sound spot on, and I for one wouldn't mind seeing a "live" performance, and furthermore would like to hear more of .......Good shout, and......respect
