We don't know your location but if you are ever around the Manchester area you will hear a lot of them being played as well as the not so well known or the forgotten. I usually mix them up into my sets but try to add something different too. I know for a fact that I will hear some of them this evening and did so last night too because I danced to quite few of them. I hadn't heard Les Chansonettes so bought that to add to my box which shows that in 50 years of collecting there are always more. The bricomaligno and other well known YouTubers are good sources for finding and checking stuff. Good luck If its not on your list try these by big Maybelle 96 tears Quitting time I just can't wait any longer And baby Washington leave me alone
  8. I think his antagonistic and patronising posts sum up his bad attitude to anyone who doesn't agree with him and he is more interested in provoking people than listening to their concerns which is pathetic and I can assure this Humpty that he won't be getting an apology from me because I won't apologise for anything I have said
  9. What a patronising reply and you have no idea what my background was back then. I had no idea that you only wanted back slapping replies that agreed with your point of view. I think that you believe that a DJ is there to play what they want and not what the audience want ! A classic mistake made my many people on the different scenes. I DJ,d every week throughout the seventies and eighties and didn't buy anything you mentioned never mind never heard of most of them, despite owning more than 5000 singles by the mid eighties. Clearly what was popular here in the north was not what you talked about. It still is as I know when I DJ which I still do. I appreciate that my music is not yours but I am not narrow minded about music at all but my preferences differ from yours and no problem with that. I regularly see Martin from Inspiral Carpets but his music is not my cup of tea but I respect his choices. You don't even talk about needing door staff and an anti drugs policy or what the police or council will want or require. I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land. So if you only want replies that agree with your own version then you should have said so in post one and show some respect for other views that differ from your own.
  10. personally , NO the NO ALCOHOL policy wouldnt bother me, there is a soul venue in Blackburn in a hall which is a BYO or tea and coffee and water from the "bar" or canteen but I would not attend at all based on that music policy, no idea who any of them were never mind the records and too old to change I dont even know anyone who would go to a venue playing whatever you said above in post #1 , although I am sure that you think its attractive to some people, each to their own I suppose. the 23.30 finish wouldnt appeal either

  20. I have just ordered 2 records on discogs and the seller quoted $13.50 U.S. for one 45 , but has allowed the same for two 45,s in the same mailer so I agree with the generality of up to$15 U S quoted earlier, but it can also depend on the number of records in the parcel too People here in the UK tend to bid up until about MIDNIGHT to 1 AM GMT or BST at the latest , with weekends being busier for obvious reasons so in the USA thats going to be afternoon or evening due to timezones , so right about now in fact
