  2. As a guest DJ with a leaning towards Motown I get bookings because of my records. ( does that make sence) Therefore I play to the crowd secondly Play a few to educate (sort of) and Play any requests I can and Dont repeat what the last DJ played Not had any complaints so far WESTY
  3. Here Here, add to that the fact some of us work night shifts as well.....
  4. Only a thought ,but perhaps the promoter knows what a "Modern Oldie" is. Westy
  5. Got a 200 silver and a couple of 50's silver from HMV. didn't expect to find any in there but there was. Lockable too . The 200 was £19.99 and the 50's were reduced to £7.99. As this was early this year they might still have the odd one about. Westy

Although Levi has passed on he will NEVER be forgotten. He will always be with us, his voice will never leave us...
  7. the story of the Spinners / Detroit is correct, think about it they even look and sound alike, , Actuallt it was in the early days when Motown was breaking in this country. Not too sure but htink it was Dave Godin's suggestion to change it. With regard to the demo's perhaps kev Roberts knows,I understand he has the full set of both issue and demo. WESTY
  8. The Impressions....You always hurt me Fantastic oldie that gets neglected cos everyone thinks of "Satisfy" and "Cheatin' " Westy

  12. SUSSED IT NOW, CHIT SAYS CUSTOMS ON ANYTHING OVER $68 AND I PAID $68.99c....so.....FOR 99c I PAID AN EXTRA $30. FOOKIN' CHARMING WESTY
  13. I recently bought a batch of records from the U.S. $68 dollars for 33 records,a real bargain. three weeks later a card fell on my mat stating I owe £14.66p to Customs dept. If the seller had put used 45's value $10 it wouldnt have been a problem, but I had to pay an extra 45% of the original price, so be warned and get the seller to put a very small value on the records or you'll get stung like I did. At the same time another batch arrived, these had value $40 on and this was ok with customs. ?????????? Westy
  14. ON TOTP2 TODAY 3PM on channel DAVE, AND ON DAVE+1 at 4pm WESTY
  15. d 2 While it is true Drax did have a CD player in the rig up, its no longer used and Drax is a vinyl only venue and has been for some time now. With regard to whether boots are played I cannot say, My recent spot at Drax consisted of original vinyl only the only exception being 2 "Carvers" of unreleased stuff. Half way into my spot a policeman decided to walk around the dancefloor (no kidding it really happened, ask anyone who was there) Why he did this I dont know, was it the soul police checking for CD's or was he looking for somone. It remains a mystery, I did however play Martha Reeves "No one there" as the next record. Westy
  16. B. True Jackie was a boxer and used to spar with B. G junior in the late 1950's Maybe Jackie was the better boxer so Berry spit his dummy out. Remember the Isley Bros. did a version of Whispers getting louder Westy
  17. WANTED IN EX OR BETTER CONDITION PLEASE WESTY
  18. Been going to Drax since it started (nearly). On one occasion me old mucker Phil Gravill from Scunthorpe (my home town till 1983) turned up. Not seen him since 1977 and he'd hardly changed. On another occasion two others, Jack from Winterton and Rennie from Barton turned up. Again 30 years since last seen. Have kept in touch and now see them regularly, Probably see them tonight.. WESTY
  19. YOUVE HIT THE `NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THAT REMARK. IF YOURE NOT PART OF THE "CLICK" YOU DONT GET A LOOK IN, THINK SOMETIMES ITS A QUESTION OF I'LL SCRATCH YOUR BACK YOU SCRATCH MINE. WITH MANY DJ'S ALSO BEING PROMOTERS. THEREFORE NOBODY HAS TO PAY FOR A GUEST, HOWEVER , THE DOWNSIDE IS IF YOU MISS ONE VENUE YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY THE SAME LINE UP A WEEK LATER AT A SIMULAR VENUE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS CAN ONLY LEAD TO A DROP IN ATTENDANCE...SURELY A VARIETY OF DJ'S AND SOUNDS IS WHATS NEEDED TO KEEP THE SCENE FRESH
  20. ALSO ON A LITTLE BIT OF SOUL ALBUM. RCA COMPILATION,and mines autographed.... Westy

  24. Having had the pleasure to meet some of my heroes,I didn't hesitate in getting a momento of the occasion. An autograph. However once bought an E.P. by Jr walker only to find what looks like his and another autograph on the sleeve.i believe this to be genuine as a forgery would be more prominent and the price tag would have been more than the £15 i spent had the seller noticed said scribe. Once bought an album "A little bit of Soul" RCA from wigan for about £4 only to find label on B side with writing all over it. Could this be The Exciters ???? WESTY
