I think Real Thing's "You to me are everything" was on Pye International.

Can Anyone Identify Tracks On This 12"?
I found a white label 12" in my cellar, nothing on the label but the number PPS 100 in the deadwax. I'm fairly sure it's a Pye group DJ's compilation from the late 70s, 2 of the tracks are Jimmy James"!If you think that funk is junk" and Ultimate "Ritmo de Brazil". Can anyone help with the titles and artists of the other 2 tracks? Cheers Nick

Different Versions
Had a thread on this last year. I have both versions on UK Probe, same release number but different numbers in the dead wax

Decca
Here's a few more UK Deccas... A decent version of Bobby Wilson, on Chain A surprisingly good version of J.R. Bailey/Donny Hathaway I think JM auctioned another of their 45s for a hefty sum recently Nick

Fontella Bass
I agree - a fantastic tune, which also got a UK release on Contempo. Some of the other Paula tracks are great too, especially "Now that I found a good thing" Here's a nice pic of Fontella, from the Jan '66 issue of Pop Weekly

Online Soul Shows
I've just done a 2-hour show on SoulGangRadiofm ( www.soulgangradiofm.com ) - playing a variety of soul styles, goes out every Monday 6 - 8 pm, repeated same time Tuesday and available on listen again for a week. Following me you get Ozz and Tim Ashibende for 2 hours, doing a Detroit special as I type. Colin Curtis does a Wednesday night show. SoulGang is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Worth a listen. Nick

Harmonica Driven Northern Dancers
Can I nominate "Maggie" by Johnny Williams (Twinight)?
-
Brenton Wood
There's a version by Tony Simon, on UK Track - presumably a UK recording. Other side's a version of the Impressions' "Never too much love", both sides produced by Donnie Elbert

Four Tops - Night Lights Harmony
"Keeper of the castle" is a must - includes their (original??) version of "Love music"

Official Northern Soul Cassettes
I've got a couple of the Grapevines on Saudi bootlegs, from the early 80s.

Tams - What Kind Of Fool, On Uk Probe
The labels are identical, but the run-out grooves differ. The original version has "YPRO 542 A-2", the newer version has "YPRO 542 A-1" Cheers Nick

Tams - What Kind Of Fool, On Uk Probe
I have 2 copies of the Tams "What kind of fool do you think I am", on UK Probe. Both have identical labels, but they're totally different recordings. One is the original 60s version (same as the HMV release), the other sounds like a 70s remake or remix. The run-out groove numbers are different. The same differences apply to the B side too. Anyone any idea how or why these 2 versions were put out?

Soul Bible Chapter One - Uk Probe Lp
The Tyrone Davis track is the original, pre-Dakar version of "Can I change my mind" - probably the only way it got a UK release

Singers Who Mention There Own Name In Their Song
ZZ Hill on "Make me yours" - All of my friends say "ZZ - Don't!"

Rare Breed - The Magic In You - Mgm
I'd had one in my sales box for a decade or more, sold it last year for a fiver. There's a great version by Steam, on the flip of "Na-na-hey-hey", was a big spin in my youth club days Cheers Nick

Scheduled For Uk Release
Paul Pelletier's Stateside book says that Jimmy Radcliffe's "My ship is coming in" was scheduled as SS 475, the number eventually given to Betty Harris - "What a sad feeling/I'm evil tonight". Does anyone know what titles were planned for the 2 missing black Chess numbers? Cheers Nick

Albert Washington - Loosen These Pains
Cheers Crumb, didn't know that. Just checked the R&B Indies book, seems M. in the Street was from Cincinatti. Still don't know which release was first - I guess you'd assume Jewel came later
