  1. Something that has always intrigued me are the two different versions of "A Little Togetherness" and I'm not sure if it's been covered before. My understanding is that the "Millionaire" verse (50secs in) is taken from The New Younghearts version on Soultown (which I have) and this is the version that seems to be the one available to stream and on cd. The other version without the "Millionaire" verse is the Canterbury release and Kings of Hearts version on Zea (which I also have). What I want to know. Did both of the two different versions below ever come out on Canterbury? If you go on Youtube (below) it would appear so, but I think that's just laziness by the person uploading the mp3 either from cd or downloading. The Millionaire verse (New Younghearts Version) Fast forward to 50 seconds The non- millionaire verse fast forward to 50 secs New Young Hearts version 50 secs Kings of Hearts
  2. Issue 81 has a bit more info but no S&S on the front cover, which is strange.
  3. I presume that B&S must have been distributed through S&S and Contempo had struck a deal with them to get access to the servicemen in Europe. Hence the 75 cent price tag. Just guessing now.
  4. After wading through several years of B&S and getting sidetracked by articles that caught my eye, I think this is the first copy to refer to Stars & Stripes and as mentioned above relates to American Servicemen. The reference was dropped later on. I can find out when, if anyone is desperate to know. B&S later incorporated the title & "Disco Music Review"
  5. I think I've got the B&S issue that first introduced the merger with Stars & Stripes. I'll have to wade through them all to see if I can find it.
  6. There's a few on mixcloud including one you put up Pete Kev
  7. I knew that Paul Kelly had written "Come with me" but never knew he'd recorded it. Love it! Margie Joseph does a great cover version with Norman Harris doing the hypnotic guitar riff.

  9. Missed both Gloria Scott and Kim Tibbs........both excellent, thanks for the intro
  10. From the age of 15 Thom Bell was a name that meant quality to me. Trawling through market stalls and record shops, you always knew the record was worth having if he had anything to do with it. I'm sure I read somewhere that in later life he became a recluse. RIP, up there with the best of them
  11. Apologies if this has been brought up before, but in the words of Columbo, "Just one more thing" When they decided to make the copies of FW Test Pressing for Record Store Day, why did they go to the trouble of scanning the handwriting so that is an exact match, but not the Quality Control stamp? The stamp is not exactly the same or in the same position. Look at the letter Q in Quality. Was this done deliberately to stop people passing them off as originals. Surely purple vinyl is enough.
  12. They are on tour in the UK next year Albert Hall Manchester Sun 19th March 2023 Full tour dates https://www.songkick.com/artists/9057929-teskey-brothers/calendar/countries/2-uk Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Last time the venue was changed from the Gorilla to the Ritz O2 and they were really good. Was good revisiting the Ritz and hadn't been there since Richard Searling's 50th with the Originals performing.
  13. One of my favorites has to be this. Although he's guesting on Ralph MacDonald's album, he's the one who makes it. Great trumpet solo too from Randy Brecker.
  14. Seems he has just passed aged 81 from heart complications. Such a great distinctive voice. RIP
  15. Funnily enough I was in Merseyside and still am ! It must have been a good place to get a reception I also remember him playing The Chi-Lites. Kev
  16. American forces network popped into my head today for some reason, so I searched Mixcloud and found this amazingly clear recording, broadcast from Frankfurt in May 1972. A bit of everything from 60's and 70's and worth listening to until the end, with the ads and news about president Nixon Highly likely that I listened to it at the time on my little transistor. Enjoy Kev
  17. While I was searching for something on Spotify I came across a Podcast called "Song Craft" a feature on songwriters. Just search Joshie Jo Armstead on Spotify and it should come up. Episode 77 A real insight and I really enjoyed it! Apologies if it's old news Kev
  18. Brand New - Unopened, still factory sealed. 2003 Long deleted. £85.00 + postage within UK only

CH60 Please PM me if interested
  20. Been a while since I've been on here, but this 70's album topic is great. Zulema often has her "Wanna be Where you are" track played and as a shorter single version, but this one is sheer magic. Margie Joseph does a great version of this but The Originals just edges it for me. In fact, every track is a winner on this album! Surprised this doesn't come up much on playlists
  21. Always thought this would have gone down well on the northern scene
