Rare Pleasure - Let me Down Easy
Thanks Steve, I didn't expect a reply so I ordered one from a Japanese seller... and it's cost me more than your's would have. š I need more patience.

Rare Pleasure - Let me Down Easy
I'm looking for a nice copy of this, preferably 12" but I'll consider a 7". The prices on discogs are mental. š„

Living Room DJ
Interesting, thanks mate. I don't really buy many compilations these days but I will definately go through those and see which ones I need to track down. I had those two out myself last night, great minds think alike! One thing leads to another so I also played Grover Washington - Hydra, Aquarian Dream - You're a Star and Azymuth - Dear Limmertz. That was all though, the best Jazz funk tracks tend to be very long.

Actually, thinking about it I've also got their other 45 which sounds really nice so it's probably just worn I would think, it plays ok but it could be better. Last night I was digging out a few soul/funk cover versions of rock songs to play for my local vinyl night.... Started to get a bit easy listening towards the end so I might leave them for now. (That Johnny Harris track might not appeal to everyone but it is amazing once it gets going). Aretha Franklin - I can't Get No Satisfaction Spanky Wilson - Sunshine of Your Love Monophonics - Bang Bang Wilson Pickett - Hey Joe King Curtis - Whole Lotta Love Ravi Shankar - Jumpin Jack Flash Sergio Mendes - After Midnight Sivuca - Aint no sunshine Johnny Harris - Paint it Black

Excellent, I love that 9th Street Exit. I've got a copy that looks nice enough but doesn't sound that great, I'm not sure if it's worn or if it's the production or the pressing. How crisp does yours sound? I would be tempted to replace mine if I thought it was worth it.

I only log in myself now and again. Anyway, I'll give some of those a listen, I like me a bit of George Duke so they should be right up my street. š

A shame, I certainly found your playlists informative. Cheers!

OVO
I'd rather listen to a good DJ playing reissues than a bad one playing "OVO". I've got an original painting by Charles Seliger and a numbered print by Wu Guanzhong in my living room. I spend more time looking at the print, but if I could only own one of them it would be the painting.

first three records to start a set
š Each to their own, thatās a good one too though... to be fair the OP didnāt specify a northern soul night so you probably wouldnāt have been there in the first place!

first three records to start a set
Couldn't agree more! It's vital. Yep, me too. Although as far as my DJing goes (well went) it was always music first, mixing second. I used to work out mixes in small sections (maybe 3 or 4 records) and then mix and match those sections as needed, luckily I also had the ability to improvise if the crowd seemed more receptive to something I played in particular. I always thought great music was most important, it does add an extra dimension if the DJ can do something exciting with them. Anyway, back to the original question, obviously it depends on what sort of night it is, what part of the night, but I'd always start with guaranteed dance floor bombs to announce my arrival and get everyone on the floor.... Jimmy Castor - It's just begun - Mighty Ryders - Evil Vibrations - Locksmith - Far Beyond The northern soul fans might be heading for the doors though! š±

I bought an LP from Japan a couple of weeks ago... from payment... to dispatch... to my front door .... five days. And it was easily NM not VG+ as described. Happy days.

Help required
I've got SL1200's which I bought for DJing 20 odd years ago - You won't get a more solid turntable. I think if I was buying one turntable for home use though I would probably get something else like the Thorens. That's nice...... But I'd prefer Biz Markie's...... https://smileradio.net/en/tech-and-gadgets/spotted-7-technics-sl-700-turntable-wild

Eumir Deodato - Percepção
Bit of a long shot, given it's not soul. But I'm looking for a copy of this on vinyl. Ta.

Does anyone like the B side to this? I do, but it's very strange, it goes from crap to awesome to crap to brilliant again. I think it's Joe singing isn't it... if so, he's got a voice more suitable for instrumentals.

Imagine What Could Be Lurking In this Collection
Each to their own of course, but I much prefer lpās. Buy an LP for a track you like, get 9 or 10 bonus tracks which can sometimes include one that turns out to be better than the one you were after. And all the artwork and information of course. Cherish the full 12 inches!

Imagine What Could Be Lurking In this Collection
I wouldn't mind a quick flick through it, looks like there could be a lot of 70s rock there though.

Good things come to those that wait... I put a maximum bid of £120 on a nice clean copy on ebay from the UK and won it at the weekend. It was close though, the other bidder got up to £119 before they gave up, happy days!

Poll: Cd Buying in 2018
Oh, I know in that case it wasn't the format that was crap! I don't particularly like CDs though, I've been given a few that I've listened to in the car now and again. I just can't spend any money on them when there's vinyl to be bought. Tends to be either radio 6 or records for me.

Poll: Cd Buying in 2018
Last CD I bought was Oasis "Definately Maybe" when it came out. Can't say that I particularly enjoyed it either, a lesson in not believing the hype.
