  1. Hi Mik, Like you said, chances are you weren't even at the Hideaway the night I played it and to be fair, I don't see you there every time it's on. Let's face it, we can't be everywhere at the same time and we can't always make every venue we'd like to, now can we. Having said that, we do try our best don't we. Remember that night at the Mousetrap? Anyhow, keep up the good work Mik, I admire your get up and go attitude towards records you think fit the bill and I think you do a great job for our little scene. Denbo.
  2. Up to now Tommy we've only ever come across white ones. Doesn't mean that blue ones don't exist but I doubt that they do.
  3. Just to set the record straight, I found this on a trip to Philly with John about 6 years ago. Obviously, John went nuts over it but it was the only copy in the shop and believe me, we turned the place upside down. From that moment on I tried very hard to track another copy down and finally located one about 2 years ago, which of course I passed immediately onto an extremely delighted John Kelly. I played it first at the Hideaway about 3 years ago but nobody took any notice of it. Their loss I thought to myself. The next copy went to my pal Tommy in Oslo, which was quickly followed by the copy Mik Parry located about 6 months ago. I'm really pleased to see it finally take off. I have a few more tasty records like that which I think might be unknown and fit the bill. Perhaps next time people will listen more closely to what's being played, rather than who is playing them. Sorry, that was just a little plug for the 'casual' DJs come record 'collectors' like myself. You regular DJs do a fine job and to be honest, give me the inspiration to go out and try my best to track down these kind of records for us all to enjoy. You'll always see me with pen and paper in hand jotting down the sounds that 'float my boat' during my visits to as many of the venues playing R&B around the UK that I can manage. But I especially enjoy my trips to the States every 2 or 3 years with John and am looking forward to my next visit quite soon. Not sure where we're going yet but it'll be great no matter where it is I'll bet.
  4. I can't give you a value but I do know what you've got there is a UK re-issue of an earlier release on HMV. Can't remember what year it came out on HMV but I think it was about 1965. Hope this goes a little way to a better understanding.
  5. Any chance you could Refosoul us a soundbyte, only my company's firewall prevents me from playing pretty much everything EXCEPT Refosoul!!! Thanks in advance.
  6. Ditto. Apple Macs no chance. PC's hit and miss.
  7. "Never seen a U.s. copy." That's what I thought. Just checking. "Came out on a very scarce French EP." Yeah, pretty sure I've seen one of them, a few times actually. But not recently. "Got a mint UK copy, but not in a rush to sell it." Ditto. Got the Lp too.
  8. Anybody ever seen it on an American import?
  9. I don't think so either!!! Nice quote by the way sunnysoul but cut it out to get to my point. Hope you don't mind.
  10. Thanks. Have PM'd you. Anybody else with helpful info?
  11. If it was then hats off to Ian 'cos it's effin good.
  12. Hi Guys, I'm looking to start a collection of soundbytes, complete with label scans and remarks, something I believe many members on here have been doing for many years already, and was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to help me out with a template that I could then populate / fill in. Presumable this would be some kind of modified / customised database, or spreadsheet? I have an Intel chipped MacBook but a PC version would also be okay as I have the Microsoft Office Suite for Macs loaded. I don't know if any of that last sentence was helpful, just thought I'd mention it in case it was. I don't have the necessary skills to do it myself from scratch and because I'm almost always working away from home, I don't have the time to learn. Please PM me if you so wish but please help me any way at all if you can. Regards, Denbo.
  13. If nobody gets back to you tonight, I will tomorrow. Just off out now. There goes my membership of the stoppyin club.
  14. Yeah, when records arrive from USA they come valued at $30 max but it's different with the Belgian postal system. I buy from Belgium because thay have a lot to offer by way of American Imports. I have to pay more 'cos they're pretty clued up but the hassle is very often, but not always because of the odd shark, worth the effort. Plus, mostly they're nice people.
  15. I have now located and purchased a copy of 'An Album Full Of Soul'. Thanks everybody for all your postings. This has been a great thread and long may it continue. I have most of what has been posted to date but the ones I haven't got, indeed, didn't even know about, has re-awakened my love and collecting instincts for more Lp's. Thanks again.
  16. Correct BUT if you insure the record then the value of that insurance cover has to be included on the sticker on the package. At least, like I said earlier, that's the case with Belgium. At least, in my recent experience. Which means the package, c/w sticker showing value of insurance, could invite theft. Belgian Postal Law has to change to overcome this ridiculous leaning toward the thief.
  17. Pathetic isn't it. Just inviting trouble / theft / hassle / claims / frustration / etc / etc. My last frustrating experience was with the Belgian Postal Service who INSISTED the value of the insurance be quoted on the package inviting all and sundry to steal it. Even though they agreed with the logic that it would invite theft they told us (me and the seller) that it was Belgian law??? ers
  18. Nice one. Thanks.
  19. Any chance of a scan? Anybody?
  20. Pete, I felt it necessary to insure a high value record coming from Belgium and the value HAD to be declared on the paperwork stuck to the package. As Belgium is in the EU there was no Customs charge true BUT the problem was people seeing the stated value of the contents and thinking, oo, think I'll nick that. Bar Stewards. So, there's still a risk so be careful people.
  21. Pikey, I've been done on 'double' figures so be careful everybody.
  22. VERY interesting stuff that Tony, cheers. Do you keep all that stuff in your head or do you keep it all filed away somewhere for future use, like now? Whatever . . . . it's good that there are people like you around. Denbo.
  23. Yeah, got this one Eddie. Really liked that other one you scanned, Album Full Of . . .
  24. No, Stateside is correct. Or at least mine's on Stateside.
  25. Nice one. Have to say, I have NEVER seen this album before. Will be looking out for it from now on in though. Thanks.
