Favourite Duets
There's always one, isn't there! Thought I wouldn't have needed to say it... ...Cover versions not allowed.

Favourite Duets
Don't know if this subject has been covered before. Never really been a particularly big fan of duets, but I was just listening to Jimmy Holiday & Clydie King "Ready, Willing & Able" and realised what a truly great record it really is. Always liked it - but right now I'm lovin' it! The vocal interplay and those little adlibs here and there are absolutely superb. Great Sax break too! Marvin & Tammi get their fair share of hammer, but what other duets do you rate, that deserve a spin or a revival? Sean Holiday & King Here>>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXgzrFwOMos

Tami Lyn - Runaway
Should just wear Boxing Gloves. Nice pic cover, but no self control some folk.

Northern Fashion 73/74
Fly is an old, old, friend of mine. We grew up together, same rough old housing estate. He was around for just a couple of years, (early Wigan & Sammys as you say). He started a Building company in 78, with his late brother, Albert. Good lads, both of 'em. Lives in Dinnington and doing really well last time I saw him (a couple of years ago in a Restaurant). Sean

Bobby Bland
Just got in and just seen the thread. Thanks for the tip Wendy - and Chalky for the heads up that its to be repeated later. I've seen Bobby Bland live twice, in the UK. Once at Hammersmith Odeon (now the Appolo - Malaco review) and a few years later up at Colne! Just love the man. Sean

Lou Wilson Aka Lou Edwards?
I have the 'Money Talk' album, from October last year. It is Lou Edwards. Best track for me is "Around The Corner From Love". Nice midtempo real instruments and a lovely muted horn. I've put on a few CD's for a few folk. Sean

The Delfonics
Lovely tune, I bought and played out as a new release - and am pretty sure it was played at Wigan when new (74?). Remember seeing it in an end of year round up of UK releases, played at the Casino, in Blues & Soul. Honestly thought everybody in the world new it! Sean

Fontella Bass Uk Chess Question
Yes it does, Dave. I've found a copy of CRS 8090 (the Silver & Black reissue - pictured)... So to answer Eddies question on 'Rescue Me' it does exist as a Black & Silver 45... but strictly speaking its not the same record done in silver - as its actually a reissue, done 4 years later, under a different number and with a different flip. Now - how about 'Recovery'? Sean

Chosen Few/elvin Spencer
Elvin Spencer on Winner came first. Elvin Spencer on Twinight came second. Chosen Few on Bandit & Chosen Few next. Finally, Elvin Spencer on E S Cozy. Great tune in any event Sean

Fontella Bass Uk Chess Question
That's the one with "I Can't Rest" on the flip (8090) Pete. Pretty sure I've not seen the issue - and certain there's no Rescue Me / Soul Of Man 8023 in silver.
-
Fontella Bass Uk Chess Question
mmmm sure you're right Pete, but the Yellow Demo is the one with "I Can't Rest" on the flip (8090). Still sure I've never seen the Rescue Me / Soul Of The Man (8023) in Black & Silver... ...but am warming to the idea of 8090 being in Black & Silver as you suggest, even though I can't recall seeing one.
-
Fontella Bass Uk Chess Question
But no Black & Silver issue of Rescue Me / Soul Of Man.
-
Fontella Bass Uk Chess Question
Nice Demo Pete - but can you remember seeing a Blk / Silver for either Rescue or Recovery? Sure I aint!
