Discogs is a USA based database and has "guidelines" not "rules" which are often questionable and somewhat biased and sometimes incorrect. This is the Guideline section and please note it is based towards those CD thingies Reissue And Repress "6.17.1. The 'Reissue' tag can be used when used on the release itself, or the release is referred to as a reissue by the artist, label, or other official sources. It can also be used where the content of the release is not the first issue of the work. This is generally independent of the format - a CD can be a reissue of an LP. It can also be independent of country, but take into account that a work may have its initial releases at different times in different countries, so in general don't use the tag if there is only a short time period (roughly less than 18 months) between the issues. Often, it can be instinctive that a release is a reissue (for example, when holding an LP from the 1960s, but the jacket and vinyl feel new). It is ok to use the tag here, but please be clear in the submission notes and / or release notes why the tag has been used - remember that people need to be able to distinguish a release they hold just by looking at it, using the notes to describe the release is important and helpful. Reissue should not be used where the work does not appear in its original form, for example, singles that combine two hits together, or CD's that combine two albums, unless the release itself uses that term. 6.17.2. The 'Repress' tag can be used when used on the release itself, or the release is referred to as a repress by the artist, label, or other official sources. You can also use the tag when you can state a good reason for doing so in the release and / or submission notes. A repress must originate from the original master disc, and the term is only applied to formats that are stamped or pressed out, such as vinyl and CD. The 'Reissue' tag can be used in other circumstances, see the guideline for the correct usage of that tag. 'Reissue' and 'Repress' can be used together." It's a bit as stupid as having different variations from different sources for vinyl grading variations and no wonder record collectors get confused (it is a shame that a worldwide "one system grading" is not in place, but has been that way for decades) I will take a look closely and amend, if required, to sort

100% agree Karl black (ABC) and pink (Probe) and then yellow (ABC) label designs on both singles and LP's, here in the UK In the UK and other territories Probe was launched on 1 October 1970 by E.M.I. Records Limited to release licensed ABC and Dunhill product and existed until late 1974 when the ABC name became available and the Probe label was merged with that. ABC set up an office within EMI in early 1974 and their contract with EMI expired on 1 October 1975. These also connected, aliases of the brothers it seems https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/buchanan_brothers Just an anorak note that Mike Monardo became Meco, well known for the disco stuff

  22. Sorry Mike NPR "The Mysterious Case of Arthur Conley, Otis Redding's Protege" https://www.npr.org/2014/10/28/359613658/the-mysterious-case-of-arthur-conley-otis-reddings-protege
  23. Its just an anorak thing for me (and perhaps others) Arthur Conley first sang Where You Lead Me / I'm A Stranger as below on Ru-Jac, both sides being re-titled on Jotis (I believe the are all different takes as well) I found this info on the web which explains a lot. "Wanting to reunite with his father, Conley moved to Baltimore, where he joined Harold Holt's band. Holt's manager recorded them in 1965, and allowed Arthur to sing two tunes at the session." "Just as Holt's record with Arthur's vocal came off the presses, Otis Redding came to town, and Holt's manager gave him a copy. Redding managed to listen past the ham-fisted production and liked the young singer. He was making plans to start his own label, Jotis, and decided Arthur Conley would be his first signing. He arranged to have them cut a couple of tunes at Stax, which prompted a lawsuit from Harold Holt's manager. Otis decided it was time to manage Conley himself and met him for the first time early in 1967. A couple of weeks later, they were in the FAME Studios in Alabama." I am interested to see the credits, which I guess would have explained some of the above, but who was "Hoke", does anyone know please ?
  24. I have no idea but someone will hopefully know, just thought it was good to post it and see 😀 I am sure someone know of Graham (I don't know him) but he has somewhat of a pedigree, it appears "As a Press Officer for Pye Records and later CBS Records in London, Graham handled the publicity for several former Motown artists, including Gladys Knight & The Pips and Edwin Starr whilst with Pye (through their licences with Buddah and 20th Century Records respectively) and would work with Gladys Knight & The Pips (again!), Billy Griffin and Marvin Gaye whilst at CBS Records. As a journalist for Melody Maker, Blues & Soul, Record Buyer and several other outlets, he has interviewed many Motown greats, including Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, The Temptations, The Commodores, Hal Davis, High Inergy and Harvey Fuqua, among others. During the course of writing the Motown Encyclopedia, he has re-acquainted himself with many former Motown artists, checking facts and feats and getting the background stories to some of the greatest music ever produced. In short, nearly forty years of music industry experience has resulted in the definitive book about Motown."
  25.
