I wasn't going to bother but Glad I changed my mind. For me, it did show a broader side to his performing skills overall enjoyed it. The sound quality was appalling - not surprised the TV listing came with a warning. Is there a better quality recording out there? He was backed by a pretty big band and backing singers. Just read the news that a true legend has passed away. Reading down the tributes says it all. I was thinking of mentioning a tune but each post above was inspiring, as I got to each one I thought, "that's a good tune" (didn't need to play them) same with the next and so on. Hello Simon Thanks for the response. The old Creative Platinum went when the PC was changed With Windows 10. I have Creative speakers on the PC and updated Media Source software came with them, Media Source is no longer supported for Windows 10. I bought an external sound card from Maplin (unbranded) has been fine so far but way short of Creative. I reckon I've probably got to start again - I was just wondering if there was an option for going backwards to a simple set up without Windows 10 using an alternative compatible software product (probably ditching the external sound card). If so, which software. I take your point about software not being the sole answer. Mike

Ever since I started recording vinyl to MP3 I've used Creative software originally with a Soundblaster Platinum card. Hassle free and would often get comments about good sound quality of my recordings. My set up Sony turntable Super legato linear amp External sound card PC=Dell Optiplex 9020 with standard sound card (8mb RAM) Windows 10 pro All pretty standard and give good performance without being audiophile quality. Problem: Creative have stopped supporting Window's 10, gradually the system has become a nightmare to operate and no longer records. Want to change software for managing Tunes, recording and ripping from. Would like to retain "what you hear" facility. Any techies out there with a view on the best way forward. Mike

Well, I lifted it off of YouTube so it could easily be a homemade - I hadn't noticed but "Withcraft" is spelt incorrectly.

Thanks a a very nice thing to own. Have to wonder who, of the many possible greats, handled that disc. I have a listen and compare to the CD cut that just arrived. I wonder who has the acetate below? Mike

Kirsty Definitely better - you are right. Probably get a telling off for pitching up but there are a few tunes that get that treatment. I seem to remember the Voodoo Working was usually pithed up (could have been +5). Thanks for the clip. Mike

This tune popped up on my PC on random play. Very nice and Its become a bit of an ear-worm After a bit of googling it appears to only be available on a 5 x CD "Emperors of Soul" compilation. Has it ever has a vinyl press (legal, not legal, white label)? Anyone know. Mike

Listened to a preview in tinny headphones at work today. Just home and now getting the full audio experience. Fab double sider. Classic Example is the pick. On re-listening to the Sherilles, that high pitch chorus is a classic 6T's riff, love it. Hump

Evening all Many of the singers on my list have gone in already. I therefore go for Levi Stubbs with one of the finest soul records ever made. There are lots of clips on the net, but this one shows the quality of Levi's voice managing to shine through over a band that is a bit to harsh.
