  1. Hi Dave That's an interesting alternative that I've not considered. I'll do a bit of product research. Thanks Mike
  2. Hello Simon Thanks for the response. The old Creative Platinum went when the PC was changed With Windows 10. I have Creative speakers on the PC and updated Media Source software came with them, Media Source is no longer supported for Windows 10. I bought an external sound card from Maplin (unbranded) has been fine so far but way short of Creative. I reckon I've probably got to start again - I was just wondering if there was an option for going backwards to a simple set up without Windows 10 using an alternative compatible software product (probably ditching the external sound card). If so, which software. I take your point about software not being the sole answer. Mike
  3. Ever since I started recording vinyl to MP3 I've used Creative software originally with a Soundblaster Platinum card. Hassle free and would often get comments about good sound quality of my recordings. My set up Sony turntable Super legato linear amp External sound card PC=Dell Optiplex 9020 with standard sound card (8mb RAM) Windows 10 pro All pretty standard and give good performance without being audiophile quality. Problem: Creative have stopped supporting Window's 10, gradually the system has become a nightmare to operate and no longer records. Want to change software for managing Tunes, recording and ripping from. Would like to retain "what you hear" facility. Any techies out there with a view on the best way forward. Mike
  4. Well, I lifted it off of YouTube so it could easily be a homemade - I hadn't noticed but "Withcraft" is spelt incorrectly.
  5. Thanks a a very nice thing to own. Have to wonder who, of the many possible greats, handled that disc. I have a listen and compare to the CD cut that just arrived. I wonder who has the acetate below? Mike
  6. Hello Wiggy That's an interesting looking object. Curious to know what the sound quality is like and what part of the cut is different. Could you do a clip? Mike
  7. I've weakened Tony. Don't buy many CD's but I've made an exception. Mike
  8. Kirsty Definitely better - you are right. Probably get a telling off for pitching up but there are a few tunes that get that treatment. I seem to remember the Voodoo Working was usually pithed up (could have been +5). Thanks for the clip. Mike
  9. Thanks for the comments. With the Mickey Stevenson connection its would hit the spot as an Anniversary single. I was hoping for a freebie or other low volume press but I gues I#ll have to make do with a CD. Cheers Mike
  10. This tune popped up on my PC on random play. Very nice and Its become a bit of an ear-worm After a bit of googling it appears to only be available on a 5 x CD "Emperors of Soul" compilation. Has it ever has a vinyl press (legal, not legal, white label)? Anyone know. Mike
  11. Chuckle I was similarly confused but didn't want to ask the obvious question and look an idiot(as usual)! All is now clear (I think). Mike Hump
  12. Listened to a preview in tinny headphones at work today. Just home and now getting the full audio experience. Fab double sider. Classic Example is the pick. On re-listening to the Sherilles, that high pitch chorus is a classic 6T's riff, love it. Hump
  13. Having not attended for quite a few years I was hoping to go!! But due to not following things properly I was too late for the ballot. Doh!! I hope it was a good night. One short in my collection now! Mike Hump
  14. Hi all Anyone got one for sale? PM me if you have. Thanks Mike Hump
  15. THE EMOTIONS - SOMEBODY NEW - DEEP SOUL EX+ £15 Hello A while back you had this Deep Soul label item for sale. Any chance you still have it or others on that label? I would usually PM but for some reason it won't send. Mike
  16. Chuck Jackson - Any Day Now (Great clip from 1965).mp4
  17. I've had my vote but if someone was feeing generous they could adopt this Chuck Jackson treat with Burt Bacharach on organ. I wanted Hand it over as an offering but couldn't find a live clip. Absolutely awesome delivery and powerful emotional lyrics. Hump
  18. Evening all Many of the singers on my list have gone in already. I therefore go for Levi Stubbs with one of the finest soul records ever made. There are lots of clips on the net, but this one shows the quality of Levi's voice managing to shine through over a band that is a bit to harsh. Love it, only been banging on about it for 50 years or so. Hump THE_FOUR_TOPS_-_ASK_THE_LONELY_(LIVE_PARIS_FRANCE_1967).mp4
  19. Hello Steph Are you still looking for "Come Here". Mike
  20. Your prices seem pretty fair mate, but I guess there are several that could be obtained for a bit less over time. Good luck with it. Hump
  21. I've always wondered if there is greater value in the records as individuals or as a complete set!! I better up the household insurance. Hump
  22. Yes, got them back. Have been meaning to give some feedback. Overall the result was good, the US vinyl records were much improved. Just a little wobble but NAP. Prior to flattening they were only playable with a weight on the arm. The most impressive was a copy of Lisa Stansfield 8-3-1. I bought it new and it was like a banana when it arrived, completely unplayable. I added it to the batch out of interest as it was single sided and quite a thin pressing. Came back transformed. Again a very tiny wobble but it plays a treat now. Mike
  23. Thanks for the feedback. I've taken the plunge and sent them off. By chance it was to 21stcenturyobjects too. When they come back i'll let you know the result. Mike
  24. Fascinating! A bit like "micro-groove-surgery", I would have thought the record would need to worth a fair sum to warrant the type of workmanship offered by VPR. Mike
  25. I've only ever tried it myself on market stall bits where I wasn't bothered about the outcome. Have to say none of the DIY methods have ever worked for me. I'll have a look at what Mr M says. Ta
