Name All Detroit 60s Labels
Isn't Gary Dean on YOUNG a Detroit 45? Keep Big Wheel and dump the garage labels as I know Mel was only interested in the soul/northern aspect. Be a bit of a mish-mash otherwise. Taurus & Leo[Velvet Sound] don't sound 70's to me ROD

Name All Detroit 60s Labels
As it's Mel's thread was he wanting Detroit labels with soul/Northern releases only. I don't think Hideout has any,nor Fenton and A squared. Otherwise you're gonna be missing a lot of labels unless someone into 60's garage contributes. RPR is West Coast address although did distribute "Like my baby",Dynamo subsid of Musicor with only Wylie Hester connection from Stanley Mitchell/Platters. Anyway sure you know that. Don't think Garrison is Detroit either. Subsid of Wand and checking matrix of Honeybees against Clarence Reid they are very similar Honeybees 50642 [sratched] and a M or W or squiggle [hard to make out] Clarence Reid 50589 and as above. Name All Detroit 60s Labels
This probably doesn't help but back in '79 I came across thousands of Music Merchant 45s in an abandoned factory in Detroit. Bit odd if they were pressed/originated on West Coast. I kinda thought that HDH based label there to utilise local talent when Motown moved out. Where's ME-O from then. Tootsie R's sounds Detroit-ish and Martineques are from there I think. May be Ohio though I guess. Matrix is M1002A with "H" opposite on Martineques so that's some guide for someone with more knowledge of pressing plants etc. ROD

Steve have a listen to this on computer instead. Beach station https://player.warpradio.com/player.asp?m=n...&streamRate= Mindless toe-tapping and ideal for background music. ROD

Grumpy!!!!????? I can assure you that under the tutelage of my present partner I am now completely re-modelled and ever-ready with a laugh, a joke and a song. This track is still bobbins Radio 2 fodder and Im persuaded that those Northern fans of a certain persuasion who may like this probably couldn't differentiate between a Northern 45 and an aubergine. As no one's replied Mel, it's £200 on Manship site in Ex condition. I think general consensus is that John can be a tad adventerous in his pricing so probably less. Coupled with the fact that it's a bit of a Detroit collection filler and compared to proper Northern 45s it's a bit bobbins, I'd say £75-100 for a Minter. Always worth looking at John's site if you wanna get a rough idea of a price. ROD

I think "Northern" should be in parenthesis too!! Reminds me of Blow Monkeys. Surely the modern scene has better records to go at. ROD

A nice job Chalky and I hate to nit-pick but you've got "Detroit Sound" and "The Detroit Sound". Actually thinking about it,are they different labels? "The De..." is Sequins. Robert Walker and assorted garage bands is different design. ROD

Stolen Hours - Bootleg V Original Details Please
Didn't catch on till 90's [was it?] so never booted back in the hey-day. Not being dismissive. I mean it's a big label 45 so Minters are more likely to turn up just cos of numbers released. That's twice in the last 24 hours I've been helpful to someone on here. No buzz really so back to being cynical. Cheers ROD

Stolen Hours - Bootleg V Original Details Please
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PATRICE-HOLLOWAY-Sto...Q2em118Q2el1247 That's the boot. Done recently-ish. Matrix corresponds to mine altho I'd say "scratched" rather than stamped. Pretty commonn 45 really so Mint copies are turning up all the time. ROD

I think you're jumping to assumptions Ken that those who buy do so with the intention of dj-ing. I think we can take it that Pete Smith didn't purchase his Silky Hargraves for that purpose so unless you know for definite why not give the others the benefit of the doubt. There are some who've bought quite a few of the guy's titles if you check the feedback but again where is the proof, unless you know the buyers of course. There are a lot of people who don't like CDs even for home use so to them a carver is perfectly acceptable. I take your point about plenty of good cheaper 45s about but if you like and want say Combinations he's selling why shouldn't someone have it without shelling out £5000. I know the legality of it all but that's nowt to do with me or you [i guess]. As I said earlier I leave that to Ady and the like. Looking through those available titles and items he's sold it doesn't really look to me like calculated attempts to get a "biggies" playlist together. Frank Beverly? Don Gardner[already on Grapevine]? Most are oldies. I don't buy this stuff but no problems with others doing so. I'd imagine royalties etc lost are miniscule. As for the unissued Motown I hope he makes a fortune out of them as the knobheads running that re-issue series have IMO really let down us fans by not releasing the best tracks on vinyl. ROD
