  1. When I get the occasional urge to get down with my bad self I usually surround myself with scantily-clad bitches and place this gem on the turntable. Then the wife walks in, the music gets turned off, the bitches leave and Im doing the washing-up for the next month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD0keky_Iv0 ROD
  2. All 45s are original. Even those graded VG+ are in very good condition apart from odd scuffs or light marks and all are guaranteed money back if not satisfied. No scratches or f**ked records here. M- is my top grade and EX is not far off that. Thought I'd give these another go round as some are reduced and quite a few are on latest SS ads at a much higher price so hopefully someone may have missed a bargain first time around. 60's Northern 1.Joe Murphy So blue WDJ VIVID EX £25 3.Drifters The outside world ATLANTIC EX £5 7.Dave Love Coalined Baby SOLID SOUL VG+ £8 8.Jades Ltd. 3. As far as I know John Doe of Betty Lloyd fame is actually Dave Withers. His prices looked good because other dealers were unreasonably priced. ROD
  4. Im not that sure but this label may have started off as a legit re-issue company but then went over to less than legal output. It's not to be confused with 60's/early 70's Dave Godin label which I assume were all legit. Anyway look at link https://music.shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=soul+city&_sacat=45534&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&LH_BIN=1&_sop=10&_dmpt=UK_Records&_odkw=soul+city&_osacat=45534&_rdc=1 You'll see fourth entry down is 10 for £20 so £7 seems high to me. Often see them on Ebay very cheap. I believe some ain't great soundwise. ROD
  5. Must have had around 50 Minters of this in mid 90's so they are around in collections I guess. Bonnie Brisker in Mint is almost impossible to find. Label always seems worn and damaged too. ROD
  6. Yes wise advice. I was told to "buy only those 45s that spin through the air but leave no mark when they hit the earth, Grasshopper" Last time I asked David Carradine anything. ROD
  7. No just the money you promised for my favourable post will suffice. I do not have a backshed but a gazelle. I told her before she went out that it was a gazebo we were after but she bumped into Tim Brown and he took advantage of her lack of knowledge concerning African fauna. Still at least it wasnt two deer. ROD
  8. Can I say that I am sickened by the thought of Tim Brown eating live babies raw. Doubly repugnant in that Ian Dewhirst is on hand to offer a choice of sauces dressed in shorts and open-toed sandals, an unforgiveable fashion faux-pas in my book. What Tim and Ian have done has completely reversed the strides made in the 200 odd years since The Enlightenment and resulted in untold misery for thousands, carnage not seen since since the last time we saw a lot of carnage, fluffy kittens ripped from their mothers' wombs and an economic downturn which will not be over until March 2376. Around the 14th probably but could be the Friday after. I myself have suffered a near-death experience but that's my fault for booking tickets to see Graham Norton's one-man show. Why Health and Safety were not involved needs to be thoroughly investigated as does the sole involvement of two white males which surely could have been avoided with a "women-only" short list. Luckily there is still a need for a tealady so we can go some way to remedying the latter. Never in my 57, although I do look younger in a certain light and look after my skin, years have I been moved to write such a strong condemnation in support of whoever it is who needs support nor been motivated to set up a charitable foundation to help the disappointed. Please send your cheques to:- Relief of Distress or R.O.D Thank you ROD Mr. Shard
  9. Dear Doog, Frankly, I find your mercenary attitude toward the fairer sex reprehensible. To deceive a young girl merely to get your hands on rare 45s belonging to her extended family is about as low as you can go. Yours sincerely Mrs Frank Wilson
  10. I thought you were a teacher Webby? When I was at school and came out with a statement which I failed to back up with a logical argument, for instance History lessons "Sir, those Romans are shit. They didn't even have mobile phones or X-boxes" He'd look at me kindly and explain the benefits of herding the forerunners of the Welsh into Wales so that future generations would not have to suffer the ignomy of being responsible for both morris-dancing and the Eistedfford. He'd also point out that it was 1969 and whilst introducing anachronisms into History class was slightly amusing my time would perhaps be better spent outside the Headmaster's study. I would then respectfully draw his attention to the fact that being the Headmaster why would he need a place to study. Surely his studying days were well over, and the constant stream of young boys entering his room to sate his unwholesome appetite for corporal punishment would be deemed worthy of investigation in a more enlightened age. From that point it would descend into mutual recrimination with the original subject matter forgotten. And they say school fails to prepare you for later life. ROD
  11. And how is this coming along so fa? You could be siteeing on a goldmine here. ROD
  12. I've listened to your selections on Refo-Soul. How much are the shelves? ROD
  13. As I said by PM Godz Im thinking this is some kinda blend of fact and fiction. Even more surreal here's a link to a version done by some Germans in Paraguay, a favourite bolthole for many Nazis after the War. ROD
  14. Are you sure! Video looks all wrong to me. Is the video made recently to go with the song then? There's this as well posted 22 July 2009 https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=59781 Rutles spring to mind. Er this as well ROD
  15. As Pikey would say "Bobbins" As far as a pastiche of 60's pop I suppose it's OK. Done recently I assume. ROD

Long time ago but seem to remember black and red actually. Gotta be from around '71/'72 I think. Pretty sure though that not a tailor-made for the NS market. ROD

Can you explain that Dave? A quick glance at Ebay shows DM WXL to be the commoner of the two. Do you know how the mix differs. Both are stated as 2.05 in length. ROD
  20. Modernsoulsucks replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Have we not gone off at a tangent here. The question is not why do these two labels differ. They're both WXL-114312. There is another release with WXB-118209. See here https://cgi.ebay.com/BRENDA-HOLLOWAY-WHEN-IM-GONE-45-TAMLA-T-54111_W0QQitemZ350223027967QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item518aeb4eff&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 What's the difference between these two serial #'s and Brad wonders why WXL seems to be rated more when it appears very common. ROD
  21. Modernsoulsucks replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Brad I wouldn't get too excited. Have a look at my thread [well, one reply anyway] from week or so ago. I had WXL as well. Maybe WXB harder to find or just rubbish info. ROD

Think I paid £19 for mine not that long ago and it's Mint. Yew is £8 in my book. Just one of those records that's never really done anything. ROD
  23. Well "Cum sixty-nine with me" introduced by Fanny Craddock would obviously be lowering the tone so Im going for "Come shine with me" for the Polish market that we now have in the UK. They wouldn't be eating the meals though. Just washing up afterward. ROD
  24. And what Steve M says too!! ROD
