good story Gilly me old mate-I always feel he never gets the plaudits he deserves particulary for the seventies stuff Glass House etc would love a complete discography of all his work if anyone can help it will give me something to do over xmas -to see how many I have etc and to fill some gaps ,play so many records by him all of the time particulary storyteller etc -need to be needed is one of my favs etc -he is a massive talent !! Was lucky to of been the one sort of looking after him.On his first visit he was stopping over at Chris Kings house in Carlton,Notts we then ran him up to Parr Hall,Warrington,he went on stage and did a bit of DJing.The second time he sang at that Birmingham Venue and apart from when he was doing the business he wouldnt let me leave his side.I used to see him on my trips in Detroit and he never forgot me,proberly had all his released stuff,a fantastic singer.Hope his health improves Dave

Different ones for different reasons -first one was late 78 heard it at the casino stoped wearing baggies etc and got into real soul after this -it was the four tempos got to have you on rampart ,just an incredible haunting sound think Evison played it in his oldies spot -OTHERS HAVE IN INCLUDED-the Butch cover up "just go on and laugh"and the first time i heard both the barons of soul and Jesse james love is alright,suppose all these would be classed as good northern soul!! On the deep and sweet side i am discovering stuff everyday in my volts that blows me away played Michael Washington-[wondering] this morning must of put it aside it was a gift of Paul Sadot i it blew me away as did the flipside of moody women Jerry Butler bloody sleepers on the flip of passed popular records still surprising you after all these years,deep and sweet gobsmacks me more these days but do look forward to getting out a bit more next year and been blown away at some of the more upfront venues !! From 78 to 81 the playlists of pat brady-sam-richard searling -raistrick etc had a massive effect on the underground eighties scene -it wasnt all joe 90 etc,can remember dancing to George Kirby etc very slow tempo and thinking WOW THIS IS IT -Stafford etc to me just carried it on in all fairness.The casino broke some simply incredible records -as for the age thing well our bus ranged from 14 to lads/lasses in their early thirties,some curious some old torchites etc,all out for a good night. The mod revival of 79 to me brought alot of strangers to the casino -people that went for the music many didnt give a shite aboout the fashion "some of the pics of us lot can certainly validate that lol",all in all i had some momments there dancing to Joe Mathnews -Vicky Baines etcv that will take some beating -eighties was better cos I had the cash to buy some of the sounds spun at the casiino however lol!! The place gets alot of shit thrown at it due to the commercialisation of the scene and the nostalgia etc -it was still a shit hot soul club-certainly would of blown the arse off most of the dos now excluding some of the more forward thinking ones- the record bar was great fun also. i really dont know Pete to be honest -infact ive not pulled mine out for about 4 years lol-sure someone will confirm if the demos are authentic - vis a vis ive never seen the uk solid centre one lol. To my knowledge this has not been booted George -i have the take 6 one for the immaculate flip and your descriptions are similar to mine,the gold token version by the way has 2 different versions a shorter and slightly longer one if memory serves me right,I do saythis with resevation however as almost everything these days has been booted -you just have to look at british ebay to see some of the shite posted!!! enjoyed the film immensly particulary howling wolf and thought Beyonce done well -artistic licence yes and a shame it concentrated on Leonard Chess but still i think it is hard to do this kind of film without the artistic licence - would of loved to have seen Howling wolf and Muddy Waters With Etta at their peak.
