Sean Oliver You & Me
Very true Mark - Used to buy quite a lot of new stuff until a few years ago - and can still be picked up quite cheap if you look hard enough . Found a few copies of The Affair 12's - Are you Ready & If Only You Could Be Mine couple of months back - 50p a pop - all went at £5 - £10 into Europe / Couple to Japan! Still see the old brit soul stuff cheap all the time. Maybe you can give us all some recommendations? ATB Rich

Think someone here recently mentioned the mix version on 12 - Kind of what alerted me to having the 12 in the first place! Album version for me too! Anyone an idea on the Bobby Womack 12? ATB Rich

Jean Plum "back To You"
Totally agree on the thread Sean. Has anyone got a clip of James Fry ? Got outbid on the 45 last year and still dont see it around much! Two copies - UK - 1 issue 1 demo sold recently on ebay for 6 and 10 quid a piece. So a great 45 for a tenner ... ATB Rich

Now This Is What I Call A Soul Record
Great clip! Thanks ! ( mimed?? I think ) - and one of my fave big ballads . . One of those ' if it was rare and unknown - what price ' type tunes IMO. Great stuff from a classic group. ATB Rich

The Visitors Are In Danger
Nice group 45 - Also came out on Dakar - a shade cheaper than the Bashie 45. Do see a few going on ebay quite cheap now and again. ATB Rich

Japanese / P-vine
Many thanks Binsy & Stuart Not seen that much P-Vine vinyl myself . Saw the LP's on ebay and thought they would fetch a lot more too. Perhaps the deep / southern market is not what it was? -The deep / southern stuff interests me most. Will have to have a delve into the site Stuart posted up and take a look. ! ATB Rich

Spine Tingling Record

Spine Tingling Record
Quality Pete . Def. soulful IMHO . Always had a soft spot for ska / JA soul stuff ( Unfortunatley sold half my collection when I was 16 to a dealer in Brum - Icicle ? / Other half thru RC mag - 300+ BB / DB/ Island etc . You'd a loved it.. ) BTW - Had an LP - Jump Jamaica Way - Seem to remember a crackin soulful cut on there from a male duo ? Brill LP too. ATB Rich

Burst Bubble Or Return To Sanity
Cheers M - I've often surprised at the many times I've left opening bids on quality SOUL 45s and won them without anyone else bidding ( I'm sure i'm leaving myself open here ) . Get more for your dollar - good mantra - I'm stockpiling until retirement - when I'll have the time to play them all ! ATB Rich

Japanese / P-vine
Just following on from the Jean Plum thread from the Wants section. Over the years there's been tons of stuff issued - I think -predominantly on P-Vine ( May be wrong here ) - Seems that they , along with Ace / Kent have done a sterling job on the Deep / Sweet / side of things - also a lot of unissued stuff , am I right? Credit wheres credit due I reckon. Do they still knock stuff out ? Does anyone have a decent discography / link ? Any recommendations? ATB Rich

Jean Plum "back To You"
Fantastic artist - Jean Plum & Bettye Jean Plummer I think are the same artist ? As for the Hi records (sub) thread - Outsatnding label - artists -production - label design - ... I could go on..... ATB Rich

Burst Bubble Or Return To Sanity
Seem to pick up quite a lot of deep / sweet / ballads on ebay for next to nothing - everyone chasing rare northern / funk items. Makes me laugh when I see something like ' Footsee ' selling for 1.25 , 2 bids - then underneath a crackin SOUL 45 @ 99p and no bids... Well suits me fine! ATB Rich

Open The Door To Your Heart
Cheers Rachel - Really like this - great guitar and horns - ATB Rich

Open The Door To Your Heart
Not heard that version Rachel - but a mate of mine years back had a version on a pink (?) label ( Not D. Banks.... ) - that Pat Brady covered up briefly ( Same time he covered the Groovers - Aint Too Proud To Beg as an unreleased Steve Mancha version ) at Bradford Queens Hall many moons ago. Anyone any ideas ? ATB Rich

So THATS what happened to him after the hits never materialised...... Marvin Jones I've heard , tho I recall one old soul luminary stating that he knew him as JM ... Cheers Paul Rich
