  8. I once bought some low cost UK label stuff and they had the name "Jon Slater" written on them. The next day I was listening to Richard Searling show and he commented and a record that had handwriting on it finishing the sentence with "just like Jon Slater who used to sign his name on all his records" I wonder who Jon Slater was ?

  13. Our 2nd ever Northern Soul event was from Shepperton to Blackpool in a 3 speed Ford Popular, even lorries were overtaking us At Hinchley Wood traffic lights some MGB driver who couldn't wait drove into the side of the driver door It took us about 12 hours to get there (circa 1972)

    There were more than you'd think, most tended to be small and/or tucked out of the way. The A Train Guildford Plaza - where they got their stuff from I'll never know but boy did they play some hot stuff. Portsmouth Marina, legendary all-nighter, pure Northern Soul, most of the records bought down by northerners in the Navy. Woking Atalanta - 100% soul and rocksteady - clubland legend Bob Potter behind the decks. I'm sure there's more............................................... .
