  1. Now you see lol , where this kind of topic is gonna end up , personally like the Ronnie Millsap , ANSLITOS, but never liked Jerry Naylor , but have a copy , for the dance floor just in case it's requested, The Strange World Of Northern Soul,( or is it ) 💊💊💊
  2. What is your reactivation ,?
  3. Sharanettes , Don't even know if I've spelt it right ,Papa who shite , burn it defo in fact a vinyl amnesty for this one , hand it in to your local Crematorium now . Reactivate , Bobby Foster , If You Really Need A Friend, (call me ) wonderful tune
  4. Earlier today went to a local car boot sale , came across a 100 box with flip lid and still quite tidy , on opening my heart was pumping a little faster and then amazing , all from 63 to 76 all mint with sleeves , 7x Ken Dodd , 5 x New Seekers , Val Donican , Pat Boone , Tammy Wynette etc etc . 2 for 50p I offered £9. For the lot plus the box , the couple said ok ,on the way home emptied all the sleeves into the box the Vinyl into a carrier bag and straight into the local Happy Staffie. Have you seen the price of original sleeves these days and the old single boxes lol
  5. Let's hope they over run again ,,,,,
  6. Possibly cross wires I think , Chalky is talking about the original topic , not the post by Soulandy which does feature Richard and more , I could be wrong !
  7. The introduction of Acetates , by a few lucky Djs or one in particular, Betty Boo springs to mind ? Not Emi discs pre Carvers etc
  8. Wonderful Andy , and another excellent release 🎯
  9. I think you might mean Fran Franklin, Scottish girl R.I.P.
  10. To be honest , once the cat was let of the bag in 76 , via The Sunday Times suplyment, the purists decided let's dig a deeper hole , where they can't find us and resurfaced in Cleethorpes, Rotherham, Yate , Stafford ,The 100 Club and anywhere else far away from the public eye as possible, but the bastards found us eventually because we left too many clues ,,, so there's no point in getting hot under the collar , this is 2023 not 1973 take out of it what you will , but the proms was meant to be a celebration, possibly key holed into a fragment of time a long, long time ago , before the cat was let out of the bag . Just a thought,,,
  11. I do hope everyone's aware that sometime , August 26th as been mentioned, that we're probably going to do this all over again when it gets its first Televised showing , just a thought 🤔 on BBC 2, I believe, could be interesting 🧐
  12. Anyone read this yet ? https://thesoulhouse.net/2023/07/17/bbc-proms-northern-soul-review/ A different take may explain sound quality ,,, May need to click on articles to read
  13. " Thanks for the advice...much appreciated" Thank you. " Entertaining for who " , For the audience, who where at The Albert Hall by the sound of the reaction they gave and from most of the post comments, on SS and other media outlets too. Nowadays quite a lot of old Soulies can't get out and about, either through old age or illness or both. I bet they found it entertaining too , I know I did , nothing wrong with my ears just my bowels. Saturday night it sounded fresh , ok a couple of vocalists a bit of a shaky start , but the music , the orchestra, the venue , made for a very entertaining occasion. I don't believe I've sold out , I still buy plenty of 45s old & new for my own enjoyment, Northern , Modern and new Soul releases . To be honest I admire your integrity and beliefs , and if I was able to get out and about more I would probably think the same , there is very little though for Soulies of a certain age group, to get excited about . I'm not looking to score any points here , why what for ? And for the record I loved your work " Once Upon A Time In Wigan " , went to see it in Coventry and the do after brilliant. Atb Paul Dave
  14. Let's be frank here , No Footsie , No Wigan's Ovation , No Tony Blackburn, No Joe 90, No Gary Lewis etc, No Sounds Of Lancashire, There's a theme here shite all of them and yet not one of them was chosen , to be played last night , yet during the so called Halsyon days of the WC most of the above where played at some point . With a few Levine productions thrown in . Last night was a celebration of 50 yrs. of WC , we all know it ran for 8 but as the general consensus proves most people who listened last night and probably frequented the place , enjoyed it for whatever their reasons. I went to the WC from 73 til 76 then moved on to pastures new , why ? like most it was becoming too commercial, once it hit the tabloids and our little secret scene was out time to bugger off . Last night The BBC Symphony Orchestra plus a handful of well chosen singers put on a magnificent performance of Northern Soul tunes from 50 yrs ago that's all , a reflection of what was popular at the time , without the shite mixed in , I have said in the past , thank Mike Walker for Mr Ms without it I'd have given up on the WC probably in 75 . I know some great tunes where played there after 76 , but by then so many other venues with forward thinking djs where also playing them too, so let's just enjoy last night for what it was , yes a little shaky on one or two of the vocals , but so can the original artists be when singing live , with a live audience who knows the tune better than they do .
  15. Again to many likes but" if I could I Would " ,,,,

  21. Nick Shirm "I'm On My Way Nick Shirm " Long after to night is all over Vula Malinga "Time Will You Pass You By What a way to end , Can't wait to see it , Vula Malinga, Tainted Love Even Dily sounded great , IMO. Well done The BBC Symphony Orchestra,
