  1. Future Stars, Clintone, Ru jac, Malaco
  2. Appologies for raising the red/green issue monster from the dead . The article in Voices states what the B-side is. If someone doesn't put one here before me I'll note it when I get home. Its in edition with Curtis Mayfiels on the cover and is in the Lou ragland interview (I think).
  3. I was reading an old copy of voices and it mentioned the 1979 release of Independant Woman which had a different B-side to the 1980 release which has part 2 on it. Has anyone got one, if so what is the other side like? Cheers, John
  4. Betty Fikes did it for me, I'm after one and didn't have an mp3/CD to listen to until now..... Cheers Cliff

Baz, Generally deep stuff is cheaper than say northen, but there are quite a few trophy pieces, which do fetch plenty of dosh, when they come up. If a Willie Johnson on Future Stars surfaces, put ya tin hat on.... there will be a war. John

Shaun, I havent got one of these myself, but Craig Moerer is selling "Sweeter Than Sugar" on Doug for approx £60. Is this the other side? I'd like to here it if possible John
  7. I just thought you were being sneaky and doing some cover-ups.... . Good to see Marcell Strong getting an airing.....
  8. I read that the CD swap was a Dersert Island Disc scenario. The tunes I've put on my CD are ones that I would never give up, including a recent purchase which has gone straight into my top 10. All of them are known, and either bring back fond or sad memories that hold a special place in my heart. Looking at the participents in the swap, there's probably not one record in my collection that they don't have, so what would be the point of entering the swap? Why would people like Sean, Plumby, Tats, etc (appologies for not naming everyone) enter if they were only looking to hear tunes they don't know, collectively the participents probably own virtually evey soul record that exists. It would be really sad if people only entered into the swap just to show off what big tunes they have and that it turned into a game of oneupmanship. Anyone with a bit of money could turn round and think, I'll show em, call up Tim Brown or John Manship spend £10-15 grand just to show off. For me soul music isn't that at all. The creation of these CD is a labour or love, well it is for me and I've found it more exciting getting a CD through the post than when I recieve most records i've bought, because its a surprise. So what if the CD has records you already have, upon listening you may think, blimey I'd forgotten how good that was or the opposite. So make em your Desert Island Disc's or tunes you'll never tire of or would sell, with rarity and value inmaterial, who cares if your favourite tune is worth £3 or 3 grand or is in everybodies collection.
  9. Marcus posted it up; we should see if his is the same?

About £20-30, although I've seen it both cheaper & dearer by dealers. I picked one up on ebay in February for a fiver and the postage costs were £2 more that what I paid for the tune.
  11. I would have thought about £40-50
  12. I thought it didn't come out on a 7" and was LP only. It also came out on a boot 12" in the 80's.
  13. I recieved some really great stuff in the last cheapie swap, totally agree.
  14. I'm a big fan of the whole Jewel/Ronn/Paula setup out of Shreveport and wondered if Joe Perkins - Looking For A Woman/Wrapped Up In Your Love was the only thing released on Plush. I know David Morris - Snap, Crakle, Pop is also on Plush, but as I don't have it, I cant confirm if its the same label. Cheers, John
  15. Nope thats release 715, this ones after it.
  16. I had a simlar conversation about the price when it came up and thought it could have reached £250. I watched it just to see what it went for. It was a Rod Dearlove play at Thorn and he wrote about it in Voices when he did the X-over article and I thought it was well known. It's a firm favourite with Andy Mann. Its a shame Come Alive isn't up to the standard of I Don't Mind and I was quite surprised when I saw that its the official A side. With prices jumping overnight these days and a play at Yarmouth, whats it worth now? Its a definate keeper......
  17. The last one on ebay was just before Xmas. It was a VG+ and that went for £220
  18. What a great tune....
  19. Sean, I can't agree more
  20. I think they are all worth a blind buy. Seems like a few copies of I Can't Belieive You're Lovin Me, Lee & Co 002 have popped up recently too.
  21. Surely its got to be Ede Robin - Dead
  22. It's on a buy iit now, for some lucky person. https://cgi.ebay.com/Bruce-Forsyth-Blue-Cat...802290863a34032 The obviously felt very guilty releasing this, so tried to make amends with Bessie Banks
  23. It's a classic in my books, not yours?
  24. Just for a bit of fun. How many crap or unexpected releases were issued on respected soul labels. Here one from me... Lena Zavaroni - Ma (He's Making Eyes At Me) Go on don't be shy, show what dark secrets lurk in your collections.... John
  25. Theres 19 on popsike, all sold since 2005.
