The forgotten and the forgettable
Yes well, the same to you!🥱

The forgotten and the forgettable
I thought Soul Source was for people who actually liked Northern Soul records, not relish in pulling them down! There are plenty of records I don't care for, but I don't come on and criticize them and spoil it for the people who do!

Echoes/Black. Glenn Bellamy did an article re British S
Well that was John's version of events. But why were the green copies made if there was all the large amount of orange copies already made? And why have the green labels always been regarded as the first originals? Did Popcorn Wylie get the orange copies pressed before or after it was played on the Northern Soul scene? That's the big question to me?

Sound quality at iconic nighters
The main hall in Wigan Casino allnighters had a very full boom sort of sound, not at all tinny but not muffled either. It was obviously loud at the front. I don't think the sound system was very sophisticated at all, but what really made a special sound to me was the hall itself. It had good acoustics being previously a ballroom for live orchestra's etc. Some of the dj's sounded muffled on the mic! I think the decks might have played fast, unless that was me😊

The forgotten and the forgettable
Great when people come on to tell of good records they feel are neglected, but I can't see the point of people coming on just to rubbish records. Very negative! Looking on youtube I can see there is always someone who puts the thumbs down on the very best records ever made!

Record cleaning machines🥺
Thanks for the good replies on this topic. The thing I am getting at is not knackered records that have been skimmed etc to pass them off as decent copies. But if relatively good condition records that are put into some of these machines, are coming out with the gloss shine taken off them and appearing with a hazey/matt effect? They play great, but don't have the original look to the vinyl. I have noticed this happening more in the last few years and wondered why this is could be!

Eddie Foster counterfeit for £1500 ebay.
Anyone fancy a Eddie Foster on a IN label counterfeit for £1500? Seller say's it's a first press!🥺 It has a speckled blue label, not a nice even blue like the original. Also incorrect details on the runout groove area. The run in groove should only be a half turn until it plays. These counterfeits have been knocking about for years, and look pretty good in a dark venue!🤔 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115895433479?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4kjBCIJEQcS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=jHGiDTr7SzC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=

When did it become about rarity?
Maybe best not to discuss Ralphs sales while he currently trying to sell the item!

JMAuction - 16/08/2023 - Results!
Only Mr Manship could get that price, and as we have all seen, the same happens with lots of these auction records! Two people at least were willing to pay that kind of money! Surely these are the very people who bought his price guides?? I can only imagine the buyers must feel very secure or fashionable and think buying from this auction site is the pinnacle of collecting rare soul records!

Steve Mancha 'did my baby call' alt. take question
Slightly different lyrics as well. Goldmine put lots of alt takes on there cd's It could be like Steve Mancha's great "Deeper In Love" on a Goldmine CD that is so much better than J.J. Barnes Ric Tic version. No disrespect to J.J. intended!

When did it become about rarity?
It will of started when records were becoming popular at venues in the late 60's, and they had been deleted from the record shops! Record rarity has always helped the Northern Soul scene. It's been a big motivation for people to travel to allnighters to hear the latest big tunes. Of course, the internet spoiled that to a certain extent. These days dj sets it can be predictable! The same old £1000 records again and again! I remember in the 1990's at one of the Ritz Allnighter Rarest of the Rare sessions. Among all the rare monsters and biggie's, to stir things up a little, Richard Searling banged on one of the greatest, cheapest classics around. "Washed Ashore" by The Platters. The dance floor erupted and it was so refreshing to hear something we didn't expect!! I am all for playing big rarities, but we also need a bit of imagination applied with the records played as well!

JMAuction - 09/08/2023 - Results!
I bought a mint demo in 1978 in Sacramento. I didn't know it and had never heard anyone play it. Probably hard core collecters knew it then. It looked nice on the Okeh demo and I did know the Cissy Stone record at that time, so I thought it might be another version! Turned out to be a much better record! I used to do a lot of collectors cassette tape swops and started putting it on those🎶.
