Rnb Is Dead
Wotcha Al, Hope you well mate! Yes theres one booked at 1K as Jimmy someone or other, (might even be Williams come to think of it) guessing it must be the same record (apart from title being the same) as i've heard there is another as rare version, but haven't heard it. Maybe it is a different recording then?

"Long live quality soul music! Modern + Xover will be the one that suffers" I don't understand why people keep saying this? Why will one die and the other not?

"its that modern stuff that youll see fading out ; ) " out of interest, why do you think this?- Rnb Is Dead
I hope the r&b scene isn't dead even if i haven't attended an r&b or mod night in quite a number of years now. Personally i felt the quality of the new records getting played was diminishing which is why i strayed, (and also my tastes changed) but i wouldn't like to hear that scene was falling on hard times. I read on here loads of threads regarding r&b records, both new discoveries and old faves, so at least from a collecting and online point of view it seems to still be thriving? I'm not so sure i would want to hear r&b records mixed in with 70's and crossover though. The form of the styles have too many disparities and i don't think they would sit will together. This of course is generalizing, the right soulful r&b/r&s record can sound great in amongst later 60's stuff (and that is often the case) but i think very early Big Mama era r&b and early popcorn sounds (regardless of a personal dislike for the latter) would make for a muddled night of music.... I get the impression that there are also plenty of soulies who are big fans and collectors of r&b, i think this 'big divide' is often overstated. I think you'd be hard pushed to find soulies who couldn't see the merits of 45s like Carl Underwood, JD Abram, Delores Johnson, Leroy Harris ect....- 45's For Sale
Willie Welch is a great funky 45, in the book at £200 as well- Blues Busters

Out of interest Kev....do we know where John Smith got his info from? Sammy directly? Thanks- Del-Larks- Job Opening
i've been trying to confirm this for ages, i'm sure in the Prestatyn program it said JO was cut in '64 (very early i know) and i've heard that elsewhere....was that just a misprint then or have i gone utterly mental? Spot on Mulf.Cut in '64 in New York.Sammy Campbell had 500 pressed.(Prestatyn mag courtesy John Smith). Bumped into Sammy Campbell and Ronnie Taylor (who shared Job Opening vocals) on Saturday lunch in the foyer at Prestatyn, they looked a little lonely . So what's a man to do? .Funny ,never saw them hanging around again.......(they did sign a Attic flyer tho - To the Attic,Sammy n Ronnie ,The Del Larks). So it IS '64!! That surely makes it one of the most bonkers records ever....- Young Bros On Ebay
absolutely mental record both sides....irrespective of price. i'll probably never own one but i couldn't ever deny its brilliance. "Also remember Tim Brown playing both versions back to back at Prestatyn (Queen Vic) years ago. Scribbled it down on my list of records to look out for. " i've got a list like that. a lot of its crossed out and not because i've found copies either.....- Del-Larks- Job Opening

Marco played this a few 100 clubs back and it sounded ace. Also on the flip of the super tough Miko deep soul release? Same version?- Conner Cagle
"Never ever heard /seen it before, so i assume it's a collector piece above all else ,unless it's got a fantastic flip side " I was only aware of it from JM's guide as one of those expensive 45s you've never heard of and think 'wonder if thats any cop'.....- Conner Cagle
Clearly an extremely rare 45....but not top of the tree in soul content imho. Does anyone have any info on where it has had plays/if it was covered up ect? Thanks!- Mighty Lovers - Ain't Gonna Run No More - Soulhawk
