  1. The soundfile off the Eccentric Soul comp would suggest an acetate or at least a very rare record as its utterly muffed and their standards are high throughout the series. Excellent ASBO-soul
  2. So does Key-Loc have any connection to either Cobra OR Teardrop or are they all separate labels after all??
  3. Wonder if this will suddenly start going for £150 upward?? About as hard as The Ethics!
  4. The other one is a lot harder on blue Progress (and about as tough on Cyclone). Also isn't there an orange Progress of DYSLM?
  5. Moerer has an Energies for sale....
  6. Always thought the three were connected? Can't remember where I read it....didn't know Jox was tho! Does Tomi have any connection? £150 too much on the Rod Andrea on JMs i would of thought?
  7. R&B??? Surely we genrify too much, a great Northern record, certainly sounded the business played out loud, although always preferred his other one Eye for An Eye I think, that Colin Law played out way back, fantastic double sider. I take it that is also a rare one these days? Do you mean Thank You Girl/One Way Love? That pic of Hank Hodge EFAE looks like that copy of The Royal Imperials on Mellow Town that did the rounds. I hope it plays better!
  8. About right on the Benny Scott then. Cross Bronx Expressway for £63!!!! Thats cheap!!!
  9. Teardrop biggie is Rocky Gil & The Bishops 'Its Not The End' Key-Loc rarity - Little Jimmy Edwards - 'Slappin' Some Soul Upon Me' which is more funk. Other Cobra records worth investigating are Rod Andrea & The Ram Rods, Sonny Ace 'Little Girl' (awesome mid tempo) The Czars & The Royal Five 'My Baby Just Cares For Me'. (This i assume isn't The Royal Five out of Philly??) Lots of the Cobra output seems to be Latino garage soul, with heavy hammond work, and vocals similar to Ray & The Blue Satins etc. Sunny & The Sunliners put a lot out on these labels too. Would like to hear the Benny Easley on Cobra ifs anyone has it? Also, are these labels linked with Tomi at all as Little Joe & The Latinaires seem to have recorded across them?

  11. Without doubt one of the most aggressive soul onslaughts known to man. Utterly awesome record and scruffy vocals and arrangement too which all adds to the charm imho. When the second vocal comes in its game over. Perhaps rivalled in viciousness only by Little Stanley on Vance?

    £1000?
  13. Perhaps a soul-snob is someone who doesn't want to hear inauthentic or ineffectual records such as Duffy or Frank Popp at soul nights or enjoy watching people embarrassing themselves on TV in the name of a subject they feel strongly about? Thats where all this soul snobs things started from recently wasn't it, after O' Grady-gate?
  14. Florida rhythm & soul par excellence £3k for a minter likely price?? Never seen or heard of one for sale although hasn't Mick H got one now? The other one is a tidy double sider too but not in the same league as this.

The problem is that there are some people reading this thread that have no other way to find new records than buy other people's wants.. pop over to the states and get digging then you won't have to ask on here?
  23. i bowled there about three weeks ago and they were playing rare funk and northern.....must be blitzing the soul section of HMV for CDs? Cool picture of Tele Savalas on the wall from the 70's too...
