Ian.........though I'd be too young at the time.......all of this would seem completely logical to me............again, it's a case of the phrase "modern soul" meaning something completely different in the context of the Northern scene. I've said it before, but I see the pigeon-holing as a sort of necessary evil...............it's kind of useful as a tool to describe tunes to people, but by it's very nature causes divisions and blatant disregard for anything not fitting in someones preferred pigeon hole!! Hell, I'm guilty myself in print, for that very reason...........I'll use the term "real soul" to get a point across (describing the style of a tune as I think most will understand where I'm coming from), but what the hell is "real soul"???..............how condescending to everything else out there!! Yup..........on the Oddfellows video (mentioned elsewhere), Keb can be heard introducing this as the Embers in that downstairs room. And definitely "Playing The Part Of A Fool". A truly magnificent, relentless piece of NS which has the lot.......I don't buy NS, but I really do need to pick one of these up whilst at a nice price Cheers, Mark R

Sure that's slightly tongue in check mate, but it certainly makes no sense whatsoever to have NO CD players in a modern room...........I would go as far as to say only having one CD player is not acceptable. You can't be playing the best contemporary music around if you aren't able to use CD and vinyl decks IMHO..........well, not via legitimate copies anyway........that said, I guess most stuff is available legit via download now....but not all! Like I always say..........choosing your music based on format is bizarre in the extreme............and that's from a vinyl lover.............vinyl is nice to have, but I wouldn't let it dictate my purchases.........it's the music that counts Cheers, Mark R
