Epitome Of Sound
As opposed to the bootleg - there's one on ebay now bidded up to £72 and finishing tomorrow night ... https://www.ebay.co.u...=item336be45f77 ... and just after, another one at £8.99 - this seems to be a supply as it has been on many times over the last few weeks. Even with an upside down small scan, you can see the differences without having to worry about miniscule stamps under the label. Cheers Mick

Rarest White Demo
Rob You could be right - I saw the one Pete put up last year and it was the same (not the same copy, but the same white stained labels both sides). When I got mine (6 or 7 years ago) I thought from looking at the image it was probably a washed out blue or yellow, but when i saw it in the flesh there was absolutely no hint of either of those colours, so I began to think it was genuinely white. The general opinion, based on viewing scans rather than the actual record, is that it is just water damaged stock, so you could be right. Maybe the ink was of a type that would wash out completely. As to Paul Kyser shedding some truth on it, I'm sure he would find more than a couple of brand new white demos if you asked him. Cheers Mick

Tobbi Bowe - I Can Feel Him Slipping Away - Patheway
It may not be that important, but is it a DEMO or an ISSUE - I would say the Issue is slightly rarer, but not much - I notice the one for sale at £700 in post No 2 is listed as an Issue, but scan shows Demo

Instrumentals : Still Collecting Them In 2011
Kev, I see what you mean now - As to when, I can't remember exactly, but It would have been at the same time Desiny were doing their thing (1979 / 80 ?? give or take) Cheers Mick

Instrumentals : Still Collecting Them In 2011
Well I don't know much really - I do know JM auctioned one a few years back, suggesting that was one of only two ever made - The label and handwriting were the same: the only difference was the "Orchestra" on mine was shortened to "Orch" on JM's. If you have one without the "Sydney Barnes" credit, then that's another one. I take it it has "Hold On" / "Soul Generation" on the flip? I think I got mine in advance of it's proposed release - ie at the time I thought it would be released on Destiny, and there was no hint that it was to be scrapped as a release. Cheers Mick

Luther Ingram - If It's All The Same - You Have To See This
Yesterday I received my copy of the new release of Luther Ingram / HIB. I knew it would be multi-coloured vinyl and was looking forward to maybe a mix of red and blue or something similar. I was completely taken aback by what I saw - I think it is stunning. There has to be at least 4 colors in there, but probably twice that. Here's a scan ... Cheers Mick

Record Lists From The Past
The Herbert Hunter was real, and as it has been pointed out, all the records on that list were real. As to weather he HAD all those titles to begin with is anyones guess. It was the only one I got. The other list were all boots an re recordings, but we didn't have to ask in those days, you just knew. For example the Jades on Ree was obviously a boot and the Del Satins / Charades etc were all new recordings (in some cases I feel that they were so new the hadn't been built ie. Rubies).

Record Lists From The Past
I got some of them - on the cheaper list at the top I had the Del Satins, Shirley Matthews etc, but things like the Rubies and Sharon Scott never emeged , possibly due to the fact they didn't exist !! A bit later the "Dena Barnes" These heartaches emerged, and the Cigarette Ashes was later advertised as "Judy Chuch", again never happened (not counting the UK female recording by C. Willis) On the more expensive list, think I got Herbert Hunter and nothing else. Cheers Mick

Record Lists From The Past
I was looking for an old list from years ago for some info on a record, and thought I'd post this up. The first is from Craig Moerer about 1980. I'll take that Joseph Webster please. And this one from Simon Soussan a bit earlier - July 1976. How to win friends ... Interesting to see the early incarnations of his ling a long's - Sharon Scott became "Dena Barnes" etc Cheers Mick

What's The Story? (The Duck)
OK I haven't found a scan but the label was "Patches" Here's a list from Simon Soussan - July 76 Cheers Mick Ha - pipped at the post again !!!

What's The Story? (The Duck)
Yes, I would like to see one again just so I can see what the label is called - maybe Ringleader in post #24 (or SHEFFSOUL) can remember. Cheers Mick

Oddball Acetate - Who Knocked This Up?
I did those labels in the very early eighties - When those Motown tracks first turned up, I had the 4 tracks cut onto 2 discs via Dave Withers. It was no real secret as to who the real artists were, but the correct song titles did remain more elusive, hence the inaccurate titles on the labels. The labels I did were good quality photocopies - tippexed out - and Letraset used for the titles - That became the master and I then photocopied them again to get the finished label. - Only ever did one copy of each label - M. Gaye / Temptations and G.Knight / Originals - I did them purely for myself, probably gave them away for next to nothing after they had served their purpose and the Originals single sided boot turned up. I remember a few years back seeing one or other of them up on eBay, advertised as original acetate - I felt obliged to tell the buyer they had bought a dud. Got no Idea how or why one of them turned up in Texas. That's quite strange, I can only assume they have been passed though various hands as originals for one of them to end up amongst genuine acetates. Still got the artwork somewhere - dug it out at the time It was on eBay to show the buyer. Cheers Mick
