Northern Soul's Fastest 45's
What's you vote on the fastest 45's to be played on the soul scene, a few suggestions below: Some great 45's and proud to say that when I was slightly younger would dance my heart out to so many of these, not so much these days. Who was the drummer on the Kellmac 45's, is it possible to play the drums this fast? If so this would have been great to see! I know the group were made up of Larry Brownlee, Carl Washington and Robert Lewis. Burning Bush - Keeps on burning - Mercury Butlers - She tried to kiss me (all I could do was run) - Liberty Cautions - No other way - Shrine Classics - So glad that I found you - Yan-g COD's - She's fire - Kellmac Colt 45's - Lady lady - Jerry Combinations - Whatcha gonna do - Kellmac Damon Fox - Packin' up - Fairmount Harry Betts - Theme from the Fantastic Plastic Machine - Epic James Lewis & A Case of Tyme - Manifesto - Legend James Wesley Smith - Talkin' 'bout women - Angel Town Jimmy Armstrong - Mystery - Shrine Little Nicky Soul - I wanted to tell you - Shee Little Ron & the Esquires - I found someone - Charade Little Stanley - The Stran - Vance Mystic Moods - Astral Trip - WB Royal Esquires - Ain't gonna run - Prix Sandi Sheldon - Your gonna make me love you - Okeh Triumphs - I'm coming to your rescue - Okeh Ty Karim - You just don't know - Romark Velvets - I gotta find me somebody - 20th Century Velvet Satins - Nothing can compare to you - General American Vondells - Hey girl you've changed - Airtown Any additions? Bob & Gene On Modo
No has not got Sailboat on the other side, definitely never come across one with Sailboat on the flip. The recording is not great , but that's what I always liked about it. Keb's was the same. Mark

- Records That Could Describe Wigan Casino
Ten Miles High - David and the Giants Out of my brain on a train - The Who - Quadrophenia LP Impressions - You Outta be in heaven- Pepsi Vs Northern Soul
Got mine from Dave at Wigan and believed Dave was behind these. Yes still have it, see attached although it definitely is too small for me now. Mark- Bobby Cash
Mark It's on Kaptal. Picked up several copies of this quite a few years ago in Florida and use to play it as relatively unknown. Great record. Mark- The Admirations - You Left Me Peachtree - Ebay Listing
Ted Sold mine many moons ago. Still have a mastertape of "I Want to be free" backing track which we found in Ed Silver's studio in Chicago. Mark- Diane Lewis - You Aint Got A Chance (Cover Up)
The "What good is crying" track is the Chantells and the Aqua Lads - I'll Never Know" on Aqua. Mark- Twisted Wheel
Had some great nights at Placemate 7 (The Wheel) during the 80's, great venue. Always remember some great weekends that normally started off on the bank-holiday Friday with Mark George, Edwin, Pablo etc. and finished off on the Monday with a few soul nights, all-nighters along the way. Happy times! Mark- Hows Many Times Did You Go To The Casino?
100+ times and with the great music, dee-jays, atmosphere, friends and of course other things wish it was 1000 times. I have been to so many great nighters over the years and met some great people but there was something about the Casino nights! Mark- Wigan Dance Competition Winners
I was dancing against Vernon in the 81 competition although it might have been before this, so didn't Vernon win it twice? Of course once Vernon starting spinning he left the rest of us standing. A great dancer and deserved to win. Mark- Gary Rushbrooke Spins
Jim I loved this 45 from the first time I heard Gary playing it and then remember a very pleased Dave Alcock when he bought if off Gary. It was always at the top of Dave's playlists at venues like Burntwood (what a great venue that was!). Mark- Gary Rushbrooke Spins
Mark Below are quite a few of Garry's 45's late Wigan that carried through in to Stafford etc. Admirations - You Left Me Peaches Appreciations I Can't Hide It Ascots Another Day Cashmeres - Showstopper Cashmeres Don't Let The Door Hit Your Back Cecil Washington I Don't Like To Lose Charles Brandy I Can't Get Enough Creations Just Remember Me Deltours Sweet And Lovely Determinations Bing Bong Eddie Daye & The Four Bars Guess Who Loves You Elbie Parker Please Keep Away From Me Eddy Jacobs Exchange Back On The Streets Again Embers Crazy About You Baby Executive Four I Got A Good Thing Going Frank Beverley & The Butlers Because Of My Herat Frankie Karl & Chevrons You Should O' Held On Four Voices Your Love Is Getting Stronger Gary Sole Holding On Imaginations Strange Neighbourhood Johnny Guitar Watson Ain't Gonna Move Lonnie Russ Say Girl Magnetics I Have A Girl Magnetics Lady in Green Midnighters You're Gonna Make Me Cry Moses Dillard Pretty As A Picture Players IV The Two Of Us Ray Agee I'm Losing Again Richard Anthony No Good Sammy Sevens Everybody Crossfire Spare Change Alive And Well Tee Fletcher Happy Loving You Traditions My Life With You Vondells Hey Girl, I've Changed Yvonne Vernee Just Like You Did Me Also remember him playing Danny Owens - Can't Be A Fool For You. Didn't Garry also play Gasoline Powered Clock - Forest Fire On The Main Street and Bobby Valentin - Use It Before You Lose It around this time? Mark- Can Ne One Tell Me Who This Is Please/
Mark Fantastic Epics on Kelton. Bought this originally for £30, Manship now list this at £350. Tim Brown £75, sound-wise I believe is worth the higher price but the lower seems more right. A brilliant record. Mark- The Bristol Hotel Gloucester
Billy Always had a great night at the Bristol Hotel and yes was a soul night. Also have a copy of the dvd from the night and am on it several times wearing a white belt which must have been fashionable at the time but somewhat embarrased to look back at it now, anyway will dig it out and see who was dee-jaying on the night. Wonderful memories! Mark Lots of Gloucester soulies but also remember the Worcester crowd, South Wales etc.- Mark Loyd - When I'm Gonna Find Her - Parlophone
Edwin Remember the same tape, got a demo copy around the same time off Ade for £30. Great record and seemed to still be a collectors record at the time, until Steve kept pushing it. Steve still have the tapes that you did, some great semi-knowns / unknowns. Mark - End Of An Era
