I'd Like To Order A Record Please
This really is a funny as fook thread/moan/whinge. "hello mate have you still got the ????" "yes" "thanks" end of job done unless its then followed with something along the lines of "can i reserve it, please" then it can only be seen as an enquire, not a sale. When you ring an insurance company up for a quote, is that a commit to buy??........NO. Chances are you have rang around all fucking day trying to get the best deal, its only a commit to buy once payment or deposit is payed. Buy It Now on ebay........just because some tit pressed buy it now do you rush off to post office to send out the record without having cleared funds........NO P.S. What was the record?, was all of this worth all the mud slinging?

Well Done Kenny Burrell
Whats the point of this thread?? K B only made a big tune bigger at the time because he paid stupid money for a tune that when all said and done is on a "Major" label. The Americans dont press a button unless it gets pressed at least a thousand times (the button that is). IMHO somebody somewhere has a shite load of these kicking around in a brown box on a floor and dont even know it. Just a theory of mine.

** Eddie Spencer - If This Is Love (Arc) **
- Tunes You Love, But Know You Should Not
Gonna get loads of stick for this but whats new!! The Javells - Goodbye Nothing To Say Love Affair - Everlasting Love Now dont be shy, we all have our little faults:hatsoff2:- ***rare Soul***
No no no, i'm not gonna do it, i refuse to take the well laid bait..............however well presented it maybe:no:- Rules
So what happens when lets say a paying customer wants to hear an "i'm Gone" or a "Narbay" or any sound where it is very rare very expensive but at the same time so known to even lets say newbies to the soul scene?? To my way of thinking so long as the above sounds or any other are not owned by a dj who is playing the same venue as yourself and could well have wanted to play them then who gives a fook!! (we all know which dj's are likely to own such sounds). Prime example of all this tosh is the grapevine records, they are all British originals and all legal issues.......with this in mind does it mean we will NEVER hear Betty Boo "say it isnt so" ever again!! Politics politics its killing the scene!!- Promoters
Apologies to the mods and apologies to yourself but your sarcastic reply was not called for.......was it. I have been to Bidds and Lifeline and other Rare do's, and i never even mentioned them at the time in any sort of way, it just so happens they are not my liking, along with the whole elitist rare soul scene that is played today. I remember when the whole scene was a rare soul scene and not split and divided as it is today. I am your out and out top 500 as its called biggest fan, its what floats my boat.- Promoters
You know what i think i must be missing something here because to a man or women (sorry) people keep on banging on about the wealth and choice of venues to go to up and down the length and breadth of the country week in week out............Are you all mad!! Take away mini nighters (wtf!! are these all about i will never know) Then take out all of the rare/RnB nighters, add to this list your normal soul night (which have never done it for me) then MY choice of venues has taken a dramatic nose dive........and let me get this sure, this is about choice?? That leaves me with my personal choice if i had any!! Kings Hall/Nuneaton/Rugby/Six Hills so maybe if i am really lucky i get to in my opinion 20 nighters in a year..........it used to be at least 80!! as usually it was a Fri nighter followed by a Sat nighter and on the odd occasion a Sunday all dayer!! So whoever you are who is trying to get Assembly Rooms and Parr Hall back on the map...........GO FOR IT!! Sorry....... In My Opinion.....that is:lol:- Promoters
Well lets just say that if on one weekend there was only Lifeline, Bidds and any other nighters of this ilk then i don't go, it's simple......my choice, my taste.- Promoters
Oh err hang on a min. Everybody on here knows my views on what a nighter should and should not be, but i dont ever remember anyone having problems in the eighties with clashing venues, you made your choice you paid your money and everybody was happy. The problem today is not enough punters and the "scene" (dont make me laugh) is far more divided now than it has ever been as to what music policy should and should not be heard. Now i have not known Sian for too long but since i have we have had face to face frank chitty chats and i for one cant fault her for sticking to her guns and NOT being bullied into changing Rugbys music policy but and here is my point DERBY FUCKING ASSEMBLY ROOMS When When When is it on, this place kicked ass BITD it was awesome and now to hear its back on and oldies only.......OMG!! fantastic. Now without the choice i would have gone to rugby.......because i like it, but given the choice then it has to be Derby for me as it suits MY music taste....what is wrong with that?? It would be like sayin its either Rugby or Kings Hall next Sat..............No contest imho...........but others will say top 500 shite over played oldies.........its a choice thing.......simple.- Promoters
Take note everybody!! This is how to take the piss but also get across a good point...........funny as fook!!- Exciters - Blowing Up My Mind - Rca 9723
Ok back in the day when collecting big time RCA demo's was the thing that got me horny:D I had most of the one's that at the time where known. Just been looking at my listings as what you all was saying did not seem to be ringing any bells in my head. Here is what i had WPKM - 8204 YELLOW DEMO!! %100 NO WHITE PROMO's of this or BLACK ISSUE's the issues are ORANGE same label design as HERB WARD.- Embers Watch Out Girl Issue
They changed the "issue" label design from black to the blue gold swirl late on 68' but retained the yellow/black demo design (well nearly, its is a little different) The issue you talk about is the real deal issue of the yellow/black demo and is far far rarer than the demo. Had both of them, last year sold an issue for £280, yesterday sold a demo for £130.....both about spot on in terms of value i feel.- Joey Delorenzo - Wake Up
As far as pop blue eyed soul goes it hits the mark, and that mark is dance floor reaction!! it fills it everytime........nuff said on whether its good or not. And since when does a "northern soul" record have to have any soul in it whatsoever, AT LEAST 50% of our scene is non soul its northern soul!!........ It's a beat behind the music, nothing more, nothing less and Joey D. has that beat.- £342 For A Carver
Mmm i tend to agree with most of what the above is trying to say, but me thinks £20 is a little on the cheap side and i also remember a 70's AWAKE boot of "I'm Gone" recently selling for £200+ and it was listed as a boot leg. It's like anything in life, it's worth whatever an individual is prepared to pay for it so long as the person has all the correct facts.- £342 For A Carver
Erm dunno really, i only replied to this as i had no idea what a carver was, only played clip in link to see if itwas the same as the one i had. - Tunes You Love, But Know You Should Not
