News: Call out for dancers / original Northern Soul fans

I'm sure you'll be inundated with requests to be involved, but have to ask what the BBC mean by original soul fans, do they mean those at the start of the scene, or at the overground commercial period (they usually mean this e.g. Wigan), the Stafford up to mid 90s 'underground' periods.... My point is, in my view you're as much an original if you're 19 and been doing the 100 Club for the last 2 years as someone who was 19 and did 2 years at the Casino. Heres hoping they get it right and I don't have to hide behind a cushion again :)

News: The Blackpool International Soul Festival

Hello Spot......of course promoters check the calendar , however this was one of the very few weekends that : A The exceptionally busy Winter Gardens was free during the summer B There were no other weekenders taking place. C The artists / DJs were available. D Hotels in the town had capacity at non premium prices I do agree that the calendar is extremely busy , but the other events tend to be all on the East Coast - but for the West Coast this is spaced out reasonably well from other events in Lancashire. We have tried to make this a really good deal as well, with so much going on for £33 "early bird". 4 dynamite artists, a great DJ line up and 6 rooms covering all styles of collectible soul.

Heard the Nancy Wilcox track" he,ll be leaving you" on Richard Searlings show on Radio Manchester last Friday, never heard it before, absolute brilliant track. Would it be possible to release these on the Pied Piper label, give us a chance to play these out at soul nights.

Lorraine Chandler's performance of, "Lost Without You" is sublime...her vocal is often deeper in the mix with her dance tracks, but this really highlights her ability...wonderful!

News: Pied Piper - Follow Your Soul - Kent Cd - Out Now

Received mine today in Australia and it's a blinder as I knew it would be. I've been listening to a one minute MP3 clip of the Cavaliers "Without Someone To Tell Me" for a good 3 or 4 years now itching to know how the rest went.... got better & better and I had a carver on order an hour later. Not OVO because there's a single studio acetate knocking around somewhere but simply too good not to play out.

Fantastic selection of stuff there from Kent as usual. I was immediately drawn to the Metros version of Joe Buckmans" Right Now",a massive fave of mine for many years. Having listened to the brief sound clip on the Ace/Kent website Im pretty certain its the same version though, I think its just a super clean remastered version though[ which is a revelation in itself because the Sepia copies are normally pretty noisy old pressings] and it sounds phenomenal. Another definite winner from Kent…….
