  1. 'Massivest'....Is this an actual word?! 'Ten To One' holds great memories, but prefer 'You Fooled Me'..great sax throughout! I said SAX! Anyone got a piccie of Lou?
  2. Definitely...,had this discussion before and we all came to the conclusion that if a previously unreleased (or album track) tune got a legitamate release on 45 that it is considered an original release. Think 'Kent Anniversary' 45s for starters! Basically, if you're a UK collector, surely you gotta get all the latest releases...i.e Soul City, Grapevine, Kent. You'll only be kicking yourself in the future if you dont! Personally, (as a USA 45 collector first) I tend to go for the UK releases that never got a release anywhere else, this week I bought the 'Detroit Magnificents' and 'Al Williams' on Grapevine, both stunning tunes only available on vinyl this way.
  3. Got this myself.. had to pay £27 total (includes the postage) direct from Trojan. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? John
  4. Boots dont have the JW006 in the run out grooves. They have S-3661 lightly scratched in and are white demo's with the same flip.
  5. Thanks for that, just had a look on evilbay and none in sight at the mo. So i'm still up for a copy if anyone's got one knocking around, filed with their Wigans Ovations, Ruth Swann's etc... John
  6. Any one wanna sell me a 'Demand' boot (UK) of this?
  7. First : Derek & Ray - Interplay (RCA UK re-issue) 1979(ish) Last : Billy Keene - Wishing And Hoping (Paula) (came through the post yesterday)

what's the title of the l.p, label? Is it 'Let Me Touch You' on Buddah???
  11. Good call! Cracking tune!

There's also a version by Jay & Techniques on the 'Apples, Peaches....' Smash L.P
  13. Both his first 2 albums for Motown are absolutely fantastic....!!! The albums are what made up my mind that he's my favourite singer!! Oh, and they're chock full of Northern and crossovers!!!
  14. Yeah, label gives production credit to Jerry Williams jr...
  15. Keeping on the same subject of Detroit unissued, are these two new Grapevine 45s previously unreleased tracks? DETROIT MAGNIFICENTS - IS THIS A WOMANS WAY AL WILLIAMS - TRY THEM thinking of buying, but only if not otherwise available..
  16. Thanks for that. I'll try and find some info on that cd you mention and see if I can marry up some of the tunes on mine.
  17. Interesting...I got a cd about 8 years ago off a pal who had contacts in the States, it's 29 tracks of mostly unissued Detroit material. The 2 Clifford Binns sides are on it and a whole host of other stuff by Arabians, Masqueraders, Bob & Fred etc...The cd came with sparse track listings and I had to do a lot of work to get the tracks matched up with artists. One in particular which is a real favourite is called 'What Went Wrong with Our Love' a great mid-tempo Detroit heart wrencher, this is one which I could never find any info on whatsoever except that there was a track of similar title by the Valentines??? Also another called 'Just One More Chance', again, no info except similar title by the Combinations?? Can anyone help on these? Incidently, the flip of Majjestees 'Take Back all Those Things' on Mutt is on the CD and is credited to 'Bob & Fred'...not as on the 45. 'Let Her Go' is the tune and is still credited to Majjestees on the 45. John

Hi, great version...it's obviously not the Spinners but could it be the Doug Parkinson version from late 70's early 80s??? Anyone?
  19. Great! Love the sax in the middle! What's it on? Year...gotta be about '68? Anyway Pete, take a look at my 'Ebony Keyes' thread....no help for me? John
  20. No one got the e.p then? It's called 'HI'
  21. Ebony Keyes 'If You Knew' seems to be getting a few spins...how much would I get for my issue on UK Piccadilly if I were to sell? It's in ex condition. Anyway, has anyone heard the other version by Geno Washington also on UK Piccadilly but E.P (NEP 34054) only I think. I would post a sound clip up but don't know how. Take my word, it's great! There's also a couple of other good tunes on it too...'Water' and 'Always' two great Northern tunes! Another one of Geno's to look out for is 'All I Need' UK Piccadilly 7N.35346 (1966), another great Northern sound. Also if anyone has the E.P, could they post a scan of the cover as mine's gone awol...
  22. Don't know the Garnett Mimms album you're after...but i've just won 'As long As I Have You' (United Artists 3396) L.P. Is this any good, buying it blind really. Interesting as it's got the same cover as his 'Warm And Soulful' l.p.
  23. Thanks for all the replies....I got all the info I needed and then some! Great, this forum! John
  24. Old Northern instr 'On The Brink'....covered up as Matt Parsons Orch 'Boogaloo Investigator'. Who was it (think it was coupled with 'Puff Adder'). Was it British release only?
