News: Top Tips For 2012
that seattle pure dynamite is crazy long -- just under 7 minutes. I thought it must be one of the longest soul 45s I've ever seen but I recently got a jim gilstrap 45 that had a short / long version and I swear it was over 7 1/2 minutes on the long side. Either way, with a long 45 it will be even rarer to have playable copies since they are pressed super low and you need a very clean copy, every tiny scratch will be really loud.

The Classics - So Glad That I Found You - Yan G For Sale
you might be thinking of the paul mitchell trio on P&L? I remember there was some northern interest in it for like a second.

Recording Flaw?
certain studios did have multitrack recorders. but i don't think they mixed in the vocals from another take, i think they did more than one take and spliced the tape together at the point of the edit.

The Classics - So Glad That I Found You - Yan G For Sale
everything else on the label is jazz right? I'm trying to think of another soul record and I can't.

I really really want this but can't afford to drop over $3000 on a record ... do you have a financing plan?

plenty of people value lower priced records. I do think his enthusiasm for the music comes out, that was one of the things I was saying earlier. I actually think he has a pretty good DJ style too. Also, I agree with what bearsy is saying that people are more likely to rip into him after his DJ set. Some of the people responsible for the conflict in the previous thread aren't posting here anymore though.

Recording Flaw?
I never noticed that before but it's clearly there. Not tape flutter, but one vaguely similar thing I always noticed that annoys me is that you can hear an edit (probably from another take or something) in the Bluebelles version of "I'm still waiting": it happens around 2:29 or 2:30

Common Labels/rare Records.?
Also, I have actually seen more stock copies than promos of that but it's pretty rare so it's not like I've seen a lot of copies overall.

Common Labels/rare Records.?
Ernie King is the same person as King Ernest / King Ernest Baker. That mercury 45 is his first record.

I actually am surprised, everyone is being pretty honest and reasonable without hatefully attacking him or ripping him apart (which did happen in that other thread).

Yer Top 3 Cheap As Chips
this is from beaumont, texas. It is carl stewart with the sonics, right? Manship auctioned one of the sonics on copyright maybe a year ago but I don't remember if it's this one or not. Carl Stewart also has a record on mercury if I'm remembering correctly. There is a nice barbara lynn record on this label.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
this is one of the records he played that didn't even sound close to soul (in my opinion) haha

Anyone Ever Heard Of This - Gail Noble On Dfd Records?
I don't know it but there's sales records, and one for sale for 20 pounds on the internet. Does it sound like a Black group? Thanks.

Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
I was excited to hear the track when he announced it as an unknown bell soul record could be excellent. the backing starts off okay and then the guy starts singing and it's clearly a rock record. Then I see it's on UK bell. That record really wasn't made as a soul record and putting it in a soul context (which works for many non-soul records) doesn't work.

Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
I think that this is exactly the point, he's a legendary figure who's made a lot of promises and this mix is supposed to be where he shows and proves himself. Most people who don't like my show wouldn't put in the effort to listen and critique it, although if they did it wouldn't really bother me (although I'd probably respond). I don't think that people are irrationally ripping into Ian's mix either, I think people are being pretty reasonable and almost anyone noted some good things.

no, the b-side to the (Giattino pressed??) white label boot is actually not the ringleaders at all. Don't know who it is though.

Common Labels/rare Records.?
I have the harmonics on way out, a pretty crappy funk 45. What is the Joan Bias? I never heard of it before.
