sorry, I guess Roger's side-by-side comparison proves me wrong. maybe someone with more info can provide more details, but they didn't have canned "fonts" in those days that you could just produce the same script like that, did they? especially a script one like that? so it had to be copied somehow, like traced / mimeographed. I still think the labels are unrelated though. There are examples of other unrelated labels stealing parts of each others' graphics. For example, that "tina" label that stole the Twinight "T". The owner of Trans World Sound told me he stole the picture of a globe from Pan Am...

I think the font is not the same, it's just an unrelated coincidence that they used cursive / script I think.

how did a dude in virginia get all those UK singles? either way, there should be a "clowns" ebay category where all these chumpy people's auctions get filtered into
  6. some of my picks: masqueraders - now that I've found you antiques - satisfactorize your mind (heard this was a white group from nola, can anyone confirm / deny?) imported moods (both sides killer, anyone have any info on this group?) syl johnson - any way the wind blows teacher's edition - i wanna be loved (obscure chicago one) jean plum - here i go again
  7. the group has another record on cotillion. it seems unlikely to me that james brown would produce something without his name being all over it like his other productions, but who knows.
  8. some asshole on ebay put a copy of a 45 that wasn't super valuable but from an LP that was valuable up for $40. I was the only bidder. He decided that he didn't get the correct value and refunded my money and told me it was broken. Then it shows up the next day as a buy it now for like $400. I left him negative feedback. He then sent me emails saying he would "kick my ass". I reported his emails to ebay and left a followup on the negative. people are greedy and stupid.

awesome, thanks so much, i bought it. i even had another pending purchase with the seller so i can combine shipping. fwiw, i just searched groundhog turbo on ebay and came up with a reissue of the LP so it has been reissued, legit or not.

the chicago / evanston bobby robinson is the guy with glasses in the photo: https://hubcap.clemson.edu/~campber/drexel.html

the chicago label was co-owned (always two owners) at different times by three people: Bobby Robinson, Ric Williams, and Don Clay.

that is a different dee dee label (the la label with the natural resources). It had no connection to a Boss label. There is a chicago dee dee label, that one is the same label as Boss.

evanston is a suburb directly north of chicago btw. northwestern university is there.

it is not the same guy. This bobby robinson is from evanston and was a member of the gems on drexel. He is still alive and living in georgia. The new york guy (more famous producer) passed away recently.

stupid all platinum records releasing 9 billion singles to collect. i just bought some horrible stang test press by "mother of three", it's like a soft rock vietnam protest record. i didn't get it cheap too and I just needed the #. do you think it's the same groundhog as on Jad? here is a groundhog album, is it a reissue? https://www.gemm.com/item/GROUND--HOG/GOT-p-TO-p-GET-p-ENOUGH/GML1449457969/

I just got a totally different groundhog on turbo 016 which I haven't seen: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350460152075 He neglected to mention in the listing that the flip was blank. Anyone have this with a flip? Also, is there a turbo 45 discography anywhere? I've never seen one.

these have to be boots. the untouchables might be a doowop bootleg.

craig moerer recently (a year ago?) had copies of the dee and flo at like $250 or something like that (might have been lower, it definitely wasn't higher). They're gone now I think.
  19. i like the "when I grow old" side
  20. it's on ebay often, popsike is your best guide on this one probably
  21. no, I actually was saying that a "G" record CAN play as mint. Doesn't make the grade "mint" though.
  22. yes, this is what I was saying, I agree and don't see what's so complicated. Some visually mint records play terrible due to terrible pressings and some trashed records play without noise. If a record is visually G and plays perfectly, it's still "G" though, it could play mint. Also, why would that seller give a play grade if they have the audio clip that reveals all the information about play. What's not possible is to reveal all the information about the visual condition as even high-res pictures don't reveal anything, that's why you need a visual grade.
  23. this one i do see sometimes, not as rare as the drake record
  24. I don't remember ever seeing one with "radio station copy". It's not like a different color or anything so it could be something I missed, but I think it's still pretty rare.
