i don't know the ownership by the way, so it might be owned by the spectrum people, but I don't think so.

it's not a sister company, it's a contemporary label that picked up material, they also picked up a mandells single. so it's a reissue in a sense, but not a reissue like a reissue at a later date post-hit, more like atlantic picking up a smaller label, except in this case a small label picking up a smaller label.
  3. the CD was legitimately reissued from the master tapes with many unreleased bonus tracks (NOT BOOTED) with extensive liner notes including interviews from norman whiteside from prison by the folks at Numero Group. When someone from the label asked for people's comments here about how they liked the music to send to Norman in a letter, nobody even responded, some fans...
  4. i love the "try me" 45 but the wee LP always sounded like a weak ripoff of what the Isleys were doing at the time, I always wondered if the rare soul people are so out of the loop of mainstream music that they don't know the connnection or if I'm just way off base here.
  5. thanks for listening to the interview and the feedback, this record sounds like a rock record to me when I listen to it, it's definitely not the chicago group in any case.
  6. i thought this was a great interview actually, I was surprised by the lack of response, maurice has some great stories and people should really check this one out.
  7. why doesn't dave thorley hit up manny campbell for the tapes and license and issue the LP, i bet he would only have to sell the LP for $200 apiece to make a profit

didn't manship auction one, so there specifically was some more interest right around that time?
  9. I guess I would say 150-200 pounds would be a fair price (I would pay that if I needed it and didn't have it), especially given that it comes up for sale hardly ever, and especially given the stupid prices people quote on here for common-ass records
  10. I like the "your love comes slower than ever" side, I would rate it at $200 maybe. I think I got mine from adey pierce at 75 pounds at 2:1 exchange rate but it was like VG+. Rarely comes up though so it's one of those things that depends on who's looking, I would have paid more than $200 maybe if it was mint and I still hadn't found one.

I think it's the case of a record being "discovered" and a surge in popularity and then copies coming out and a loss of interest.
  12. I can dig it. The record is very similar, it's neither identical enough to be a cover nor is it directly a response enough to be an "answer" either.
  13. also, I thought there's no way to remove feedback anymore (or at least the "mutual feedback removal" process is gone now)?
  14. I was actually calling it an answer record based more on the lyrics actually. What else makes an answer record besides the same rhythm track, melody, and lyrics that respond to the original ones? The imaginations record she's talking about things that a lady ain't supposed to do also in it.
  15. that's funny, I had assumed it was another seller who had the osborne guide speculating buying to resell and that anyone who actually knew about northern wouldn't want to buy a rolling stones cover.
  16. the positive result to the story is that he blackmailed you into sending you a record for free? didn't you have recourse to get the feedback removed since he didn't pay you had you had a NPB strike filed?
  17. some seller on ebay had the promo up as a featured auction all hyped up and I emailed them saying that it was worthless as a promo and they were all friendly about it like "oops" (apparently the osborne guide actually has the promo listed for money) and they STILL ended up getting like $150!!! I think there are a lot of confused people buying on ebay.
  18. you could buy the record that it's an answer to though (cynthia and the imaginations). I always wondered how a georgia group did an answer record to an obscure detroit group.
  19. Today on my radio show I interviewed two members of legendary Chicago soul group the Radiants, the original lead singer Maurice McAlister and member Wallace Sampson, the only singer who was a member of every lineup of the group. I usually write up a bio of the group but it was a great interview and it's worth listening to Maurice and Wallace tell all the stories of all their songs, check it out at the bottom of my interviews page at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html thanks, Bob

I just gave you a link to a non-imaginary one that just ended a few days ago for $7, it's not that hard a record, it comes up and never goes for much. someone's not asking you to sell a ferrari for $100, you think you have a diamond when you have a cubic zirconium

my bad, I just searched for it, it didn't have ripped labels, but it was VG: https://cgi.ebay.com/Northern-Soul-45-The-Intrigues-Bullet-Lbl-In-A-Moment_W0QQitemZ220454003251QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item3354152233&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

yeah, that copy you won on ebay with the ripped label for a few bucks is really worth a bazillion dollars and the fact that it was a national hit makes it a 25 pound record on yew...
  24. are you sure they're all different and not just different lighting in the photographs, etc.?
