cats was the first venue i ever went in july 1973 as a very naive 15 year old , remember myself ,tony horn (tank) ,mick gavin and gary jones + his morris minor , making the 180 mile round trip which anyone whos ever travelled in a moggy minor will know was quite a epic journey , can remember standing near the dancefloor in complete awe of the unbelievable dancers id never seen anything like it , and the music completly blew me away , id heard motown stuff and things like tami lynn at my local youth club so i knew it was soul i thought i liked . but that night at the cats changed my life forever . the sweets - satisfy me baby ,duke browner - crying over you ,leon haywood - baby reconsider one great record after another and the atmosphere was amazing i was hooked .i needed to own every record id heard . happy days
  4. ted just listening to the soundclip sounds slower than the 45 is that from the millionaires cd , anyway its nice to know i have a record you like , as for value id say between 5-700 my copy cost $10 from a guy in san fransisco probably 12 years ago
  5. cant yet master sound files me and technology dont seem to go together although it is on the millionaires cd 4 and look out for the other goodie on the label by alberta weeks
  6. got a copy of the modern soul trio had it for years but never heard it played out still to have its day whats the going rate on this pretty scarce i reckon

  12. i missed the previous thread last year so all this as probably been covered diane jenkins was the lead vocalist on creative funks releases on the label im missing 12004 so would be obliged if someone could let me know what it is 1200 - creative funk - ready made family/ funk power 1201 - creative funk- the whole groove / the whole thing (INST) 12000 -creative funk - ready made family / funk power 12001 -creative funk - moving world /breezies 12002 - diane jenkins - towaway zone / anniversary 12003 - diane jenkins - gee baby / recycle 12004 - funk machine - soul santa 12005 -diane jenkins - sweet wine music / im a woman 12006 -diane jenkins - i need you( voc)/i need you inst 12007 - 12008 -the limelights - before the next teardrop falls /inst these are the ones i knew of could it be that 12002 is a misprint and should be 12003 and am i right in thinking that when ian levine met diane jenkins in 1974 he had a hand either in writing or producing 12006 - i need you - almost as a taylor made for the highland room
  13. picked a lavells up from evil bay $31 two weeks ago great underplayed tune
  14. have pm ed you
  15. bloody hell ive heard some crap in my time but GLORIA and IM A MAN are painful to the ears , i can see why guy or dean left them behind , LIKE THE LORD SAID never really liked it when it was played at stafford but at least the lyrics make it the best of a poor bunch
  16. the jd abraham i first heard played at stafford storming uptempo other sides not bad either , i had a copy for about 6 months in t80s was a 35 quider but moved it on as imo very average tune sure the label was west coast but i may be wrong . my copy went to graham thomas in welsh wales
  17. tis true the king george is awesome , cliff steele used to spin this in the mid 80s at THE DETROIT ACADEMICALS soul nights in northampton and ive heard him recently play it at lifeline , the rarest on the label by a mile and a quality tune , think kitch and mick h also have a copy
  18. cheers val knew he had a copy , lets hope after 2 weeks in thailand he will still be dreaming of all the ladyboys hes had and let me take that 60s trash of his hands
