  1. Not sure about a record - but sending you and your daughter my best wishes. A perfect Christmas miracle is on the way! Pete x NB - a very hot curry works. Might be a few logistical issues with that though!
  2. He's beautiful Steve. Looking at the picture bought a tear to my eye - that's what Christmas is all about. Happy Christmas to you and yours, my lovely friend. Pete
  3. Yep, its a super record isn't it. Always remember this playing along side Arin Demain's Silent Treatment. I think they were both Nev Wherry spins but it was a long time ago. I'd love an Arin! Happy Christmas mate. Pete
  4. Bought a nice one of these recently so will be kicking off with that - and then breaking all of them! Some of you may remember us clubbing together a few years ago to buy one of these - for Gil! We exchanged a couple of emails! Pete
  5. Yep, Merry Christmas everyone. I'm going to spark up my amp in a bit and have a loud soul disco in memory of Little Smith. Call me sad, call me what you like. I'm doing it and doing it large. Peter
  6. That's beautiful Gogger mate. Pete
  7. I can only think of Edwin at the moment. But hey, nowt wrong with Edwin.
  8. Wow! Looks like the whole sky is on fire! Great picture Suz. Peter
  9. My answer was a bit tongue in cheek mate. Generally it doesn't put me off. I only buy things occasionally now - things I really want.
  10. Hi Dave I do like Spain but dislike their attitude towards, and treatment of, animals.
  11. Nice looking dog too.
  12. Wow! What a super picture Martyn. And what a spectacular visitor! Pete
  13. You've not seen me in my tights Graham.
  14. My final post - well maybe for a bit. Because they believe in their craft, they invest their time and money. People resorting to playing boots are lazy, make believe dj's who don't give a fuck. Right, I'm off to the top of our stairs.
  15. That isn't what I said or think. Im going for a lie down.
  16. I didn't mean that. There were a number of top dj's who had exclusive records. I used to pick my venues based solely on who was playing because I know what I wanted to hear. Let's not forget that back in the day most people were completely off their rockers on amphetamines. They danced to anything!
  17. That's one of the points I've been trying to make - exclusivity.
  18. Records were covered up to retain exlusivity. Having the best records as a dj got you a following. Some were very rare, some not so rare but generally unknown. People went to hear particular records because they couldn't hear them elsewhere. Until of course they were booted - and then as has been said the record was dropped.
  19. You can play whatever you like at home mate. I occasionally play the spoons when am cleaning windows. That is very occasionally, as I hardly ever clean the windows. That is a rather different story and down to my mentalist issues.
  20. I didn't mean you! I was speaking about boot playing dj's.
  21. Probably hit the nail on the head there mate. If you haven't got the records you shouldn't be passing yourself off as a dj. Having original records are the essential tools of the trade.
  22. Of course they can be the same thing. And yes, some records have been played because they are rare, not necessarily because they are good soul records. But that becomes rather subjective.
