Cheers for the mention in an earlier thread , together with Aggie I used to put soul nites on down in the cellar at the Connaught ,in the 80s , we had some good nites looking back with a good mix of Dj s. We used to have either Harpo or Pep and another guest sometimes Jonny Beggs or Dave Evison (sure we had Esher from the 86 club too,) which would guarantee a few from the Stoke area and a good mix of music . Aggie was more into his Catacombs and Torch classics and i was Casino boy so we had a real cross section . good memories cheers for jolting them ...Paddy Jennings

Bloody hell mate you really said that from the heart , as someone who has known you for many years , I know I can say I have never met anyone who is as passionate about the scene and soul music in general as you, I really mean that . Maybe its time I dipped my toe in the water so to speak once more on the scene , as you probably aware I had my problems in the past with gear but that is behind me now, but still one day at a time . Always enjoy reading your blogs and Sandis come to that and I am aware of all the tittle tattling that goes on on the scene still , maybe see u soon keep in touch Paddy Jennings

Cant believe it bumped into Vicky Brown yesterday in the Asda she even said hi , why o why did the wife have to be with me , shes just as stunning as ever found myself just staring , sad i know but she was the cutest lass on Gethros coach up to the Casino when I was a lad , you cant take away memories... someone must be in contact with her tell her all about soul source haha

My wife just called me into the living room in amazement , she loves the old films on TCM channel , come and listen shes says and there was Judy Garland singing " Put your loving arms around me " , very different to the Sherrys version we know and love but the same song non the less , so just how old is this song cheers Jenko

Back in the day of WC the Wolverhampton and Preston crowd used to be very friendly with each other mostly congregating at the front of the dance floor and sat on the edge of the stage, just wondered how many of the old Preston crowd still get out and about , I know a few have gone on to the great soul venue in the sky. remember , Wes , Daffy , Eddie ,Tex , Gaz Kellett amongst others from up that way. cheers Jenko

Tried every way known to man in getting up to the casino, jumped the train , hitched lifts , allowed myself to be carried in cars that had been "borrowed" was always a nightmare hitchin but remember the " wagon wheel man " very well, last resort was jethros coach , even then always tried to get away without paying..Jenko old soulie..P.s wonder if Harpo has worked out who i am yet , havnt seen him in years
