  1. Would love to read the article in Manifesto Steve, could you bring it to Filthy`s next month? Gonna run the poll for one more week then lock it down for those that have not voted yet.satin and James Phelps are level top at mo. Again thx to everyone who posted .
  2. Used to be a £175-200 all the time Micky, big buzz on the flip for the boogie/funky side from the European guys.So you get the Xover guys after it for the Hey Girl side, always flys out quick when listed. This is a really good lp: CARTER and CHANEL-MIDNIGHT LOVE AFFAIR(Sweet City Lp)" £100
  3. I do remember a seller about 6/7 years ago or something like that (time flies these days) listings a few copies on ebay.I remember a mate asking if i would order a copy so we could try and work a deal.Sadly i could`t afford it at time, think it worked out about £300 for a copy but my memory isn`t what it was lol.
  4. Nice one Pat,hope your well?
  5. Thx for posting this up,personally i thought this was the weakiest version but if the mods want to add it to poll, feel free to do so,i can`t add it.
  6. Going by info from a previous thread on here, this is only way you can own on a 45 via grapevine, was a acetate only which Richard Sealing had/has: The Magnetics feat John Mckinney:
  7. Nate Evans and Mean Green: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkqAJHjX-q4
  8. Satin is already been posted, here`s John Edwards:
  9. Here`s all the songs for those of you that wanna compare: James Phelps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSrJDDCSKAs
  10. I didn`t know about that version as well John, will try and find a clip. So it looks like Satin might have been the first release?Any idea of year? For me James Phelps and John Edwards are best versions but i think there all good in there own way.John Edwards also got the wonderful A-side: it`s those little things that count . Thx for the feedback guys, keep it coming
  11. Finally got a bit of time on my hands today so thought i`d get some info: What was the original version? I know James Phelps came out in 1971 ,John Edwards and Nate Evans 1972,rest no idea??? Did the Magnetics come out on a 45 or is it under another name . Floyd Smith seem to get his money`s worth out of this song, have to say all the versions are good.Bit of fun what`s your fav. Clock starts now
  12. Good post, nice to see new artists making proper music rather then that awful squeeky voice r+b nu soul rubbish that is being labelled as Soul music . For me tracks1,3.5 were stand out and track 8/9 sounded ok. Decent debut lp,fair play to artist for bringing it out on vinyl ,hope it goes well.
  13. Cheers for all the replys people
  14. ok Gold label it is,looks like i`m off to Spec savers now lol
  15. I`ve ordered a copy but for playing in doors only so no 1 for me ovo rules here for me. Search begins for a real one now
  16. You got a bargain there,i paid a bit more then that but still cheaper then elsewhere. The one in clip is exactly like my copy with label above etc.
  17. Here`s a scan : https://www.discogs.com/Traits-Some-Day-Some-Way-Youve-Waited-To-Long/release/2816129 Either i need to visit spec savers or it`s Pink/Orange ,my wife sayes Beige . Mine is mint
  18. I thought it sounded ahead of it`s time for 1966 but a few early Motown were like that. It`s listed on a few threads/Discogs has 1966.They do get it wrong now and again. Funny enough i sold the Center Stage copy years ago cos i didn`t like it .
  19. Just picked this up and only just noticed it was pressed on same label diff colour label: Yellow(what i got) and Orange/Pink. It also had the label name above and down the left hand side on both colour labels. Was some of this re-press/Boots or different pressing plants? Great record from 1966 by the way Ok people, clock is ticking ...Now..
  20. Hi Mike, hope your both well? I`ve slowed down buying from the U.s now due to high postage and sellers not playing ball with paperwork etc. Also the days of buying single items especially the cheap ones is not cost effective in the U.s, I`ve decided to only buy off sellers who either let me build up orders to save on postage or if they don`t play ball, they go to a few U.s addreses of friends which can be a pain cos i sometimes don`t get them for months so i can`t buy vg+ in the hope it`s been undergraded. look forward to your ebay list, send me an email with link when you posted it up,hopefully see ya end of the year again.
  21. There`s other good tracks on that lp Kev. All them other groups you mention Kev are really good especially 9th Creation.
  22. I worked with a guy who used to work at Earls Court /Olympia and other venues moving the sound gear about. He was into Rock but said best Soul band was Earth Wind and fire,he said when the show started, they came down in a spaceship which was totally differant/Original to any other artist at the time. He said visually best band he ever seen and that`s saying something from him. They were one of the 1st soul bands i got into when i was into Soul/Disco in 78/79,sadly sold all there lp`s in mid 80`s for a night out i think lol. Good news i took a guy home one night in the cab and he was a big soul fan, sadly he never had the money for the fair so paid me in Earth,Wind, and fire lps so wasn`t all bad. . This is proper with strings and things, listen to whole track from last days and time lp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGSJ8nPA2kk
  23. I agree Kev,for me it`s a wonderful tune,i`ve always bought records i like rather then i`ll play that out and everyone will give me high fives etc ,sorry not my thing, i only play records i like/want.The key is playing them at the right time, some i get right, some i get wrong.Bottom line is i`m a collector first,dj second.Key is finding a happy meduim. .
  24. So it seems Steve,to be honest i like the record but if common sense had prevailed , i would have waited a little longer to see if other copies turn up cheaper.I tried that with Rey Villar and many others and ended up paying more :ohmy:Plus i`m a hugh lover of the Ohio sound and at the time,i paid the going rate. Swings and roundabouts and some. like you say win some etc . Bottom line,i rate the track but it is either a great radio track or early doors if playing out.
  25. Someone got a bargain for this: Ron Harrington It Happened To Me Again . I paid a lot more for mine
