  1. Next time you get a copy of this "alright" record Pete, can you give us first shout pls . Have to admit the ebay price is taking the p**s.
  2. Try Bob the Crate Smith when he gets back ,he had 2 copies(i got one). Was a while ago but he may be able to source another copy. Here`s his website: https://www.uptightrecords.co.uk/store/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=9
  3. Thanks for quick answer Bob . I`ve only just got Janion copy, picked it up off another member on here.I didn`t know it had 2 presses so never queried it at time and seller never put label on sales list cos he thought the same.In fairness seller sent the cleaner copy so i`ll keep this one.So if anyone wants other copy, let me know and i`ll pass on his details. No i don`t know Loneliness Bob,have you got a clip you can email me?
  4. Does anyone know what was 1st press on this: Janion or Congress of Racial Equality. Both seem independant local labels .No years on labels. Clock is ticking
  5. Tonight`s the night ain`t bad either, agree lp best way to own a copy ,plus it`s only a cheapie.
  6. I knew if it was legit cos it had a proper cover with heavy grey cardboard etc,if memory serves(still not had time to play it) there`s a lot of `live` tracks on lp.Will look out for the `68` copy.(If anyone has a copy for sale, let me know). Good news is it`s a bit better this week, think a few people are starting to creep back(apart from the city lot).
  7. I thought it was, i just googled it and it came out in 75,oh my god i have a 2rd press .I expect to be lined up later and pelted with cabbage/rotten Apples . No i`m not .Not earning any money, very quiet out and half of London is no access now. DON`T GET ME STARTED ON THE OLYMPIC LANES Trust your giving London a wide berth ??
  8. Finally found the Ojay`s lp with that track on it in the racks.Sure it`s not from 68,self titled/Blue cover with Ojays and track listings on front cover?? The Poindexter brothers wrote some great songs. Your right Sean re Leverts vocals being the dogs, not played that track for ages, will let you know later.
  9. That`s what i bought Ray Lewis for ages ago so was pleased when it turned out to be a great double sider . Any body know what year these records got released?
  10. Oh yea, never checked that....Doh... Thx Bob,you were sharp there fella
  11. Wondered who did it first? Both on same label D`or.Personally i think the Internationals shades it but both great tunes.Plus the flip Beautiful Philosphy is a killer. Also noticed Ray Lewis was pressed twice,Black and Orange label? Is it a east/west coast pressing thing or did it get 2 releases?I have the Black one. Clock is ticking people

The Dells for me,to hear one of my all time vocalists : Marvin Junior. Gutted i missed the late 80`s gig they did at Blackpool.Heard it was awesome and one of them`you had to have been there` moments.
  14. Agree about that shush, but as I say I am thinking it is actually making it more difficult to get these LP's on these shores. Its amazing how hard it is to get fairly well known artists from late 60's, not sure why I am a regular customer on discogs Wayne, although maybe we should keep that quiet also, having bought about 200 way below book value from there in last 12 months. They do have most of the above but they are either too expensive (book value in my world is divided by 2,twice, before arriving at a price) or are in States and I prefer to buy over here at moment, probably going to have to give in though. Hope you are well, haven't been in London this year hence radio silence! I decided to upgrade to u.s copies on a few of my lps 3/4 years ago,a lot i thought would be easy to locate and cheap. Most i found but not so easy price wise cos of postage(Especially from the states).Luckily Ellie helped me with that little problem .Thought Discogs was a very good place to look but your right, prices all over the place. If i see any of your wants on my travels or on private lists from mates, will pass on the details.Lots of people i know selling up on lps at mo and you know at least 2 of em (Text ya later who they are). i`m well thx, having hours of fun with pre Olympic chaos .Wise move not coming to London this year, avoid, half of Locals will be gone come 26th July.Hope ya well.
  15. Yea but let`s keep that amongst ourselves While no one is interested, prices stay low and there`s some great music to be got for good prices . Have you tried Discogs James?A lot of your wants will be on there what Steve can`t sort you out on
  16. Sorry to hear about re Mick but it catches up on us all eventually.I`ve got some flyers of gigs he did stuck on the back of some of my old school books(only reason i keep em lol) .Remember one had a Black fist with keep the faith, might have been a 100 club gig(will try and find one day). I know i went to it but don`t tell Ady i was only 13/14 . Sadly all the flyers/Fanzines from that time(inc a few Blackbeat i think),i gave to my mate cos he`s still involved in the Mod scene.Downside was when he split with wife, she left all his gear on the pavement for the dustman . Have to say thought Notra Dame/100 club played the better soul records out of all them places mentioned.Sadly i was too young /never knew the really good ones and not ready to pick up on them. .
  17. Yes, Brian Murray is exactly who I was thinking of (thanks the pic confirms it). Brain was a really nice bloke (as was Cockney Mick) and I knew them both quite well for that fairly brief period, they both used to attend the Cambridge on a Sunday night: a big pub really but with a very large dance floor in north London - exactly where the Cambridge roundabout is now (A406 juntion with A10) - I'm sure you used to go there as well (or did one or twice)? I bet there'll be a few people on here who remember that too! Yes, the White Lion - I do remember it was a fairly brief event and with very few in attendance. Sean Arnold, now this name rings a massive bell, but am not sure - was he from Enfield? If it's who I think it is then he introduced me to the 100 Club! Just noticed this thread, brings back good memories of when i was very young. I been mates with Sean Arnold since 13 years old,in fact he got me into 70`s modern soul mid 80`s.He`s still around and still lives in Enfield. He`s goes to 100 club,Walls of heartache(Walthamstow)Filthy and Monumental soul alldayers/weekenders. Re the thread,i went to Notre Dame back in 81/82/83?,had some interesting journeys there and back on the Vespa.Always trouble with casuals in cars or bone heads(Skins)I remember one night it was raining and all 3 of us broke down on way home.We worked it out that water had got in fly wheel due to no rubber stopper. My mates got there`s goings i ended up walking it to Camden or there abouts before thinking of dumping it.Luckily i got towed by a kind soul on his way home from work(luckily pass where i lived). Also went to La beatroot on a Tues night a few times, luckily i was out of work at the time so didn`t have to get up next day. I went to Mildmay tavern when i was 13/14,Sunday afternoon and Weds evening(if memory serves)) were good.Again running the gauntlet between Highbury Islington station and pub was interesting with the local skins than casuals(mostly Arse firm). One Weds night we took a few down (mostly Spurs fans from Edmonton who were older then me) and Denton and his crew turned up(That`s Arsenal firm for those that don`t know). They kicked over all the scooters and it kicked off outside. Later on ,on our way home waiting for a bus at Dalson they came back and my Spurs friends went for a punch up.Being too young and not into that stuff,i got the bus with a mate.Heard it got naughty and a few were put into hosp.etc both sides so after that give it a miss. We also took a few down to Tooting one Sunday night to see Flat 19,bloody long way on the Northern line . Was a regular at the Cambridge, the couple that run it went to school in Tottenham with my Aunt.Any body remember Sean Adams, great dancer, went to Wigan, was in the Shitheads scooter club . Anybody do the Carnaby st meetings on Sat? Now i can tell ya a few story`s about that : Wimpey bomb explosion,N.F/BNP demo. Long tall Shorty free gig etc The Regency(i think that`s what it was called) in Romford/Colliers row was good.Over to you to Mappy
  18. This is a bargain: Harden Brothers - Deep Inside Of You - H.B Production - M- - £75 Great record if you like 80`s.
  19. Don`t worry Nev,i won`t bore Tez with my selections
  20. Personally i list my play lists to let others know what i`m about and help promote either our own gig or someone else`s.Sometimes i hold back playlists if someone/s at the venue was after a certain record i played .Or i email them it first so they got a head start .If it`s a real toughie and person needs a few months etc to locate it,i also leave it off play list, for me i give priority to people who take the time to turn up over Voyeurs anyday .i`m sure all collectors understand where i`m coming from on this I can see all view points re posting or not,at Filthy`s we like our guests to post what they played but we don`t get on any one`s case if they don`t want to. My view on this:If other people wanna use your playlists for there use, surely that`s a good thing, means your on the right track, artist gets props and let`s be honest, those that go out regular will know who played it first etc if that`s a big thing in your life.Personally if i`m `put onto a track` ,i always give that person props. It`s not about me or the dj,it`s the artist who makes the music.
  21. Great double sider this: OVATIONS -SWEET THING /TILL I FIND SOME WAY ( XL) EX £25 ... Two great 70's cross over winners on one disc Every home should have one
  22. Great tune Dave, played this a few months ago at Essence and Filthy`s, a lot of people come over to find out what it was . Hats off to Steve Plumb for sorting me out a copy and putting me onto it a while back
  23. i agree he was a `billy Bull` character. He mugged me off on a couple deals, lucky i knew where he lived cos i used to take his missus home when she did work do`s in London .To be fair to him i got reimbursed unlike some others. Meet the guy where Mike was getting some of the big titles and believe me Sag war fare would have been in there.Maybe the contact didn`t let that title go cos he only had 1 copy.Contact used to buy doubles when he went to u.s back in early 80`s.Mike took a lot of his doubles, maybe he bluffed the one`s he could`t get off contact?I`ve had contact round my flat going throu my collection and only 2 records he didn`t know were New love ltd,Traces of Smoke.Think Mike got all his info from this guy.Trust me this guy was way ahead of most people in the uk. And yes he still had a mint copy of F/smog,when i win the lotto, will be in touch with him
