  1. The album was issued on CD many many years ago. If that means that many people parted with their vinyl copy it could mean that there are a few of those LPs around. Hope you´ll find it...
  2. Hi Martin! We seem to have a few things in common: I´m also from Sweden - and I´m on the EMS forum too! Great show(s). A nice selection of tunes. Best, Melismo
  3. Playlist looks great! Time permitting, I´ll be a regular listener Cheers Melismo
  4. Great album? Yes! Rare? Far from it, very easy to find. Best, Melismo
  5. Albert Jones is the name of the singer referred to above. How much does his original LP go for these days? There was so much black music coming from Canada back in the day, lots of now forgotten gems.
  6. I was in Krakow several years ago. Don´t know about the nightlife, but in the daytime I tried to find places where they sell used records. I did find a few places, but did NOT FIND ONE SINGLE SOUL RECORD! Obviously not the best place to go for soul music?! But who knows, maybe some other forum member will prove me wrong. Only spent a couple of days there, so it was a short visit and many years ago. Best, Melismo
  7. Hi folks! Zane Hunter is away, so I have recorded the show and uploaded it via Megaupload. Please let me know if the link works! If not, I´ll use another host for the upload. To download click link below: https://www.megaupload.com/se/?d=3878970O Cheers Shaun for a great show! Enjoyed the likes of General Crook, Al James, The Ethics, Whatnauts, Fantastic Four, Beres Hammond, Carla Whitney and more... Carla Whitney is a Canandian soul singer. I don´t know how many albums she has put out, but I am sure I have one of them on a reissue CD that came out about ten years ago, where her album is coupled with that of another Canadian (male) soul singer. Zane, when you come back. I am curious to know what records you bagged when you were over in the States. Once again, please let me know if the download link works!!! Otherwise I´ll post again. Best, Melismo PS. Shaun, uploaded on the EMS forum as well!
  8. Cleveland act the Truth included the amazing vocals of Larry Hancock, who used to front another Cleveland group called S.O.U.L. who cut a number of funky instrumentals and some nice vocal tracks, in particular the classic soul choon "This Time Around".
  9. Not on their LPs, but on a 7" Lanier & Co. "Living For My Music"/"After I Cry Tonight" Larc 81010 Shouldn´t be too expensive I think if you can find one. Best, Melismo
  10. I.N.D. is a six-member group (from Chicago I think) produced by Jim Porter. About the album. It is good, but not outstanding. In particular like some of the steppers. Price of the original vinyl dropped a bit when the album was reissued in cd format. Tracklisting 01 EVERYBODY LIKES TO DO IT 02 SIDE BY SIDE 03 YOU JUST BE YOU 04 I JUST GOT TO HAVE YOU 05 STAY SWEET 06 I WANT TO BE THE ONE 07 INTO NEW DIMENSIONS 08 SPYRM OF THE MOMENT I copied the tracklist from the following website, where you can also hear sound-samples of all the tracks: https://cgi.ebay.it/I-N-D-Into-New-Dimensio...7QQcmdZViewItem Melismo
  11. I have the two RCA albums by the Swordsmen. By no means rare, they crop up every now and then, at least around where I live. Nice albums methinks.

So sad. Just pulled out the Anticipation LP. Have listened to some of his old stuff today and yesterday. He was a fine vocalist. R.I.P. Willie Tee

The other day I was listening to Glen Anthony Henry´s brand new release "Hope" and was thinking - this sounds very much like a good old recording by Bobby Byrd. And now, Bobby Byrd is gone... Love his solo output, and not to forget, he is claimed to have written many of James Brown´s major hits without being credited as a writer on the actual records. R.I.P. Brother, You got Soul!!!
  14. Yes, Damon Harris Temptation´s revue will be at Prestatyn. It´s the same guy who was in Impact. He did the falsetto lead in the Temptations for about five years, singing on for instance "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". Then he went on to record a solo album, including the well-received disco tune "My Music" and he has also done session work singing behind artists such as Rose Royce...
  15. I love the Weldon Irvine and Don Blackman stuff. https://www.allthingsdeep.com/dge/weldon_irvine.htm
  16. Inspired by your post I just pulled out his self-titled solo set from 1978 on Fantasy Records. Haven´t played this since I don´t know when... Cheers, Melismo
  17. I think I´m familiar with all records listed. Most of them may not be worth that much, but are quite nice music-wise. One example: the record by Impact is a cheapie, but quite nice in my opinion. Group features an ex-member of the Temptations. Best, Melismo
  18. Yes, Alex Subinas´ site is great. I always check out his monthly recommendations. It´s a pity the text is in Spanish, a language I do not master. I also contributed to the Soul Portrait site earlier this year, submitting some record reviews - written in English Cheers Melismo
  19. Travellin´ In The Wright Circle is a nice `modern soul´ album, includes one of my all time favourites "You´re Just What I Need"! The LP is very easy to find, crops up all the time, and a cheapie too. This Time For Real is not a rare record, but a bit more expensive. Includes the wonderful "If You Abuse My Love". Nice albums, shouldn´t be difficult to sell to people that don´t have them, since they are quality sets. Best, Melismo
  20. Watched this clip some months ago on Youtube. Also liked it very much. Great to see those guys on stage together. 45cellar, how did you manage to insert an embedded clip - I tried in another thread, but failed, although I know (well, at least I thought I knew) how it is supposed to be done?!
  21. This should work. The clip embedded:
  22. I´m pretty sure I have some other soul stuff also on Playboy Records. However, my memory is short and I don´t want to search the Net for things Playboy related, especially not when at work
  23. In America. Very limited boot, this housy dance version of the track. Don´t have it myself and not able to provide a link to any sound sample, since this is a truly elusive item...
  24. The LP Do It Baby was not a Smokey Robinson album, it was put out by the Miracles featuring (Smokey-replacement) Bill Griffin as the new lead singer. "Can´t Get Ready For Losing You" is an LP only track. I´ve never seen any 7". However, that´s not the whole truth. "Can´t Get Ready For Losing You" was actually remixed quite recently, but the new version was never officially released, the single was available as a bootleg only and just for a short time, so I guess it doesn´t count :^) Best, Melismo
