Help Identifying 60S Detroit Misspress
Hoping to play the Little Roger Hatcher on Del-la Northern tonight on the radio: www.wfmu.org, 7-8 p.m. U.S. eastern time....show will thereafter be archived at www.wfmu.org/playlists/sv....could be that mine is a slightly different vocal take too. We can compare. It's in kind of rough shape, unfortunately.

Help Identifying 60S Detroit Misspress
Okay, I figured it out. It's not a white artist. It's Little Roger Hatcher on Del-La Northern, "Get a Hold of Yourself." It's very rare and doesn't appear in the Roger Hatcher discog at Soulful Kinda Music, though they have it as a release on Dotty's, which I've never seen.

Chino Feaster On Strakers
Finally figured out what the "hey hey hey" intro reminds me of: it's a sped-up, rougher, less well sung version of the "say yeah yeah yeah" intro to "Stubborn Kind of Fellow."

I have definitely heard this. I think I even have it. But I can't think of what it is....Ugh.

Asking If Anyone Can Identify These Tracks Please
Pete: "Just Say the Word" is the Jay Cees on Enjoy. Others are unfamiliar to me.

Chino Feaster On Strakers
It may not be "northern," but how can you say it's not soul?? That's a real head-scratcher IMO. Of course it's soul.

Sunglows On Sunglow
Not the one I'm looking for, buddy.

Top Tips For 2010
Perhaps too common for y'all: Duponts with the Dixie Flyers, "Together" (Atco)....

Chino Feaster On Strakers
I've never heard it before. My thoughts: It's pretty good but nondescript. Mostly by-the-numbers funky soul, with no catchy hook, undistinguished vocals, predictable/generic changes--except for that weird bridge. Kind of picks up for me when the wah-wah kicks in around 2:10!!!

Domestic Five - Mega Rarity
Val, where in Florida are you? I'm here too. Just picked up a nice copy of the Platters 'Going Back to Detroit' LP and a fairly hammered Susan Barrett and not much else....oh, a couple rockabilly 78s. Cheers, Matt

Am I Losing My Mind?
It was here yesterday but seems to have vanished.

Big Jack Reynolds
"Made It Up in Your Mind" (Mah's) Recently upgraded on this one, so my longtime play copy is available. It's VG- or slightly worse, but it's never let me down in the DJ box and sounds fine despite some pops and ticks. You can hear the actual copy that's available here: https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/30959 Offers to finewine@wfmu.org.

Acetate I.d.?
Thanks for giving it a listen and sharing your thoughts. Yeah, I think it's beautiful. I'm wondering whether a finished version of it exists and am hoping that if it does, someone recognizes the song in its stripped-down demo form and can tell me what it is.... I'll play the other side next week.

Acetate I.d.?
Found an unmarked, beat-up acetate recently. Both sides are obviously demo versions of songs, just (good) voice and electric guitar; they never would have been released in this form. I don't think I recognize the singer or the songs (though one sounds kind of familiar). I played one side on the radio last night: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/33968, at the 45 minute mark (use the pop-up player and you can skip ahead to get right there). Can anyone help? Thanks.

Quixotics
Yeah, it's not really a group record. The lead vocal is decent, though, and it's a nice midtempo dancer. Agree that it's Hi-ish....
-
Quixotics
...and it ain't going to appeal to any deep-soul collector i know of. it IS off center, though.

Quixotics
Anyone know anything about the Quixotics on Blackman, "Reach Out"? It's a nice little record, seemingly from Detroit or Ohio. Rudy Robinson and Herbie Ross are involved....Google leads to mentions of it on a couple UK playlists, but as an acetate and/or without a label. I know it exists, because I have one in my hand. Known? Covered up?

Cheep Stormers & Best Kept Secrets
I play the kind of stuff you're after practically every week on my radio show. Go here for about 400 archived shows and playlists, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of cheapies you can use: www.wfmu.org/playlists/sv

Bill Moss On Westbound
Hmmm, only one I seem to have is a gray promo copy of 184...not one you're looking for. Thought I might have another, but it ain't turning up....

Motown Junkies
Forgive me if this has already been discussed: https://motownjunkies.wordpress.com/index/ It's a site that intends to provide a lengthy review of every Motown recording released or planned for release on 45, and the writing and information is pretty good.
