  1. Used to play this out quite a lot 10 or more years ago love it ...a tenner from a Mr P Smith from Hastings or Brighton, somewhere on the south coast anyway Edit. Thinking about it more like 12years @ SITC
  2. Knew he'd been "unwell" big shock yesterday RIP Rick A guy full of warmth & friendliness Dave Greenhill
  3. Guess you're right Pete, I paid £60 about 10 years ago & thought it was a ton at most nowadays, before this auction what would you have sold it for ? ( & the smiley is a joke as I know you're not led by others with your prices )
  4. I mentioned it on the Broadways thread & I'll do so again David Coleman, an auction record ? hmm at that price I guess it is but in the real world ...................?????????????????
  5. Hmm why doesn't bloody emoticon work ? ;-(
  6. Cheers Steve, can't listen at work, I'll check it later.
  7. Just walking through Selfridges Department store & I had a wtf moment. Just caught the end of Betty Lavette Let me down easy ......or not. So surprised to hear it I didn't listen that carefully. The voice sounded very much like Betty & while the backing was very true to the original the 20 seconds I heard I realised that it was much more recent then the 60s. Thinking about it & the rubbish that they play through the instore system, it couldn't have been Betty & I can only assume that a remake has been recorded trying to get as close to the original as possible. Has anybody else heard this (or am I last to know as usual ?)
  8. "we feel there’s a few of you who may not own a copy" ha ha says it all really when even manship acknowledges that almost everyone has one.
  9. Brains Parker ? Is that a cover up ?
  10. Big wallets, the "ability" to read others playlists = instant dj
  11. Played it in April at Solid Hit .....hmm was going to give a thumbs up or smiley but emoticom not working ;-)
  12. Just saw that myself Pete ......unbelievable truly unbelievable David Coleman Drown my heart ..... Auction record ?
  13. Thanks Gents (tried to post a thumbs up but it's not working ;-( )
  14. Link to original thread please ? Ripped off Phil ? glad you got your dosh back (most of it)
  15. Ha ha lines crossed I think Patto, original poster mentioned the track was Mecca/Cleethorpes type sound so when you mentioned DD I assumed you meant it was played at those venues, I'll go back to sleep
  16. Don Downing played at the Mecca ? What a great record (well it was at the time, have to dig it out & see how it sounds today) Used to play it at some new release soul & funk night I used to do ........ ahhhh when I was young
  17. Price please anyone on a mint minus T.C. Lee & the Bricklayers Up & down the hill King yellow demo? Many Thanks Dave
  18. It's a matter of taste (opinion) Steve, there's loads of pop stuff that's been played that I have enjoyed hearing out, especially at Wigan with the atmosphere but this one just grates
  19. Obviously your not alone Kev, totally agree mate
  20. Old Stafford play I believe wiggy ? (where's Chalky?) Played it at Solid Hit now & again, also played the other side out a few times. Good doublesider (especially at 30 quid )
  21. Deletts What's The Use C/w Look At Me £381
  22. Writing on label "PePe" I've got that on my Geno Washington on Atac, looks the same writing, also seen it on a scan of something? Assume it's a former owner of record, anyone else ? Not a commom name or nickname ?
  23. Sorry Bearsy ressed report by accident , guess that means I've reported your post for something Hope you're keeping well mate & well on the way to full recevery if you're not already Anyway as I have said on another thread I was playing this at Solid Hit in O'Neils 6/7 years back, I'd heard it on a tape from Dave Miller from Scotland. That reminded me of hearing it out in late 70s/ early 80s pretty certain before Keb was playing it so I'm sure plenty of people knew of it (I just didn't know who it was by) So when I started playing it, it was a fairly "big" or well known sound in Hibernian & who knows where else. I tried loads of dealers including Manship, Pat Brady, Tim Brown, Tim Ashibende as well as quite a few people on here & couldn't find a copy anywhere until Butch came up trumps. I guess the scene is so localised few know what is being played in the smaller venues around the country ?
  24. Sorry to hear this, Best wishes for a speedy recovery Rick Dave
  25. I had difficulty finding a copy of this 5/6/7 years ago before it became in demand. Eventually Butch came to my rescue at £40
