  1. which side did you buy this for or prehaps for both ? seems to be getting some demand just lately.... won't be a hard to find 30 quid record for much longer if this carries on.
  2. just read this at 8.49pm perfect timing.... had no idea this was on but I know what i'll be watching in 10 mins .
  3. this stuff is nothing new. Lonnie Lester was in every sales box going and probably still is in a lot of them and at 100 quid. I think its an incredibly common record and should be 20 quid tops but there you go. Wether I like the record or not I just can't justify paying that money for something that is always available. I recently baught the Bill Wright on Tragar oin here for 100 quid. It was graded low so I rang up for a listen. It paleyd great and I believe i've grabbed a realy good buy. It shows occasionally and usually pretty rough but in this day and age its a hard to find record. It amazes me how a record as fantastic as Bill Brandon "Rainbow Road" can go throuhg ebay for $150 now a days yet Sam Fletcher is always listed over 200 quid and is another example of a very common record. You just need to know what you want how much you want to pay for it a bollox to all the idle talk thats what I say. Roy Robets "You move me" is still considered a $10 record yet to me its fantastic and a touch undervalued if I didn't pay that price i'd have gone to 20 quid easily. this can go on and on.....
  4. John, if you haven't sold a copy of a record in the past 10 years does that make it expensive or cheap using this system ? i'll have copies of all the things that are coming to you for the first time if it makes them cheap a 10 year database must be a great point of reference. I sometimes wonder if or how you major dealers can even remember what records you had back in the 70 / 80s when mass volumes of 45s were coming over. It surely wasn't until much later when the true raritry of some records become more appreciated.
  5. he can if his daddy has just sold ray agee.

Is there a 3rd by her on the label ? Adam Leaver had one listed but I didn't keep a record of the details label no etc etc.
  8. will it now shoot up in value.....
  9. this is very true. Soul records can only be either good or bad examples of there particular genre. some have the magic others don't.

I heard that before but never managed to get it confirmed. Does Johnny McCall sing lead on the 4 shades track or is he a backing singer ?
  11. yep, must be this one. Just listening now on youtube. fire island for me just means the one I listed (anthem in its day for me) but don't think its got any connection to LH.
  12. "there but for the grace of god" ?????????
  13. good stuff. Happy to have my doubts proved wrong. my copy is in the post looking forward to listening to the vinyl instead of an mp3 on internet.
  14. is it young divines ? I like that one...
  15. thats what I thought. Didn't sound quite right.
  16. I had a listen to it last night and can't decide..... did see a discopgraphy on the net saying its him but you can't believe all you read. did he have a son who may have sang on this ?
  17. are you certain its Ralph ?
  18. I think he may have.... but saying that when I went to my first nighter in about 3 years a couple of months ago I didn't know too many. There were plenty of new sounds mixed in with the stuff I knoiw and like.
  19. Thats how I read it. but do the customers attending rare soul nights not want to hear at least a selection out of a given number of records ? a lot of the top DJs must have records that people associate with them and as a result they will get played. some of these records may have taken a lot of finding in the first place so will get a good spell of time on the tuntables.
  20. thanks.
  21. veron changed hands for a lot of money in football transfers but was pretty rubbish at British clubs. just a bit off topic.....
  22. are these shows available to download ? without having to mess about with one of those bits of recording software....

I can see the logic here. I wouldn't say you need to have had the big ticket records though just heard them lots and lots over a number of years so when you spend you want something different. Not something you know inside out.

its a slippery slope but sounds like you've got the bug good and proper now. Its frightening how easy it is to refer to a 75-100 record as cheap and not even think it remotely strange to spending that sort of money. I think there's a few of us now who came over from the house music era.

i'm having a mainstream phase just now. example being Bar-Kays "Summer of our love" and this... which is sensational. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGAvP_c9AqQ things like tomangoes are always going to sound. They don't reach cult status for nothing. you've got pretty mixed taste which is a good thing in my book.
